Factors influencing social avoidance and distress after radical lung cancer resection: a mediation analysis.

Objective: To investigate factors influencing social avoidance and distress (SAD) in patients following radical resection of lung cancer (RRLC) and analyze the mediating effects among these factors.

Methods: Clinical data from 320 patients who underwent RRLC between January 2022 and December 2023 at the General Hospital of Western Theater Command PLA were analyzed. Data were collected using the General Information Questionnaire, Social Avoidance and Distress Scale (SADS), Hospital Anxiety and Depression Scale (HADS), Perceived Social Support Scales (PSSS), General Self-Efficacy Scale (GSES), and Consumer Experiences of Stigma Questionnaire (CESQ).

Transforming growth factor-β (TGF-β) is a multifunctional cytokine that plays a vital role in regulating cell growth, differentiation and survival in various tissues. It participates in a variety of cellular processes, including cell apoptosis, cell migration and evasion, and plays a paradoxical role in tumor genesis and development. In the early stage of tumor, TGF-β inhibits the occurrence of tumor by inhibiting cell proliferation and regulating cell apoptosis.

The fascinating role of SPRR3 in various malignant tumors has prompted extensive research to unravel its expression patterns and prognostic significance. To comprehensively investigate SPRR3, we leveraged multiple datasets containing invaluable biomedical information, specifically focusing on the comparative analysis of SPRR3 gene expression levels across different cancer types. Meticulous examination of lung adenocarcinoma allowed us to delve deeper into the correlation between SPRR3 expression and its molecular biological functions.

Based on this, this study determines whether and how circ-ITCH is involved in the pathogenesis of chronic glomerulonephritis (CGN).

Risk factors for ICU-acquired weakness in sepsis patients: A retrospective study of 264 patients.

Background: Sepsis is a common critical illness in intensive care unit (ICU) and an important risk factor for intensive care unit-acquired weakness (ICU-AW). The objective of the study is to analyze the risk factors of ICU-AW in septic patients.

Methods: A total of 264 septic patients admitted to the General Hospital of the Western Theater Command from January 2018 to April 2022 were included in this study.

Background: Physical activity (PA) is widely recommended for preventing and combating obesity, but the most effective PA pattern for treating obesity remains unclear. Cardiometabolic index (CMI), derived from waist height ratio and triglycerides to high-density lipoprotein-cholesterol ratio, is a novel indicator for evaluating obesity. However, the relationship between different PA patterns and CMI remains unelucidated.

Remifentanil‑induced hyperalgesia (RIH) is characterized by the emergence of stimulation‑induced pain, including phenomena such as allodynia and thermal hyperalgesia following remifentanil infusion. As a sequence‑specific DNA binding transcription factor, PAX6 positively and negatively regulates transcription and is expressed in multiple cell types in the developing and adult central nervous system. It was hypothesized that puerarin could relieve RIH via targeting PAX6 to regulate transcription of transient receptor potential cation channel subfamily V Member 1 (TRPV1).

Imatinib and statin drugs have been recognized to regulate T-cell function, statins also have been demonstrated endothelia protection, but whether this combination therapy was able to improve the efficacy remains unknown.

Background: Emerging evidence suggests that there may be an association between a history of fractures and dementia risk, but the epidemiological findings are inconsistent. We, therefore, conducted a meta-analysis to systematically assess the risk of dementia among people with a history of fractures.

Methods: We comprehensively searched four electronic databases (PubMed, Web of Science, Embase, and Cochrane Library) for relevant literature published from inception to 10 January 2023.

Bilateral decompressive craniotomy complicated by postoperative mycoplasma hominis epidural empyema and meningitis: A case report.

Objective: To identify delivery error type and predict associated error magnitude by image-based features using machine learning (ML).

Methods: In this study, a total of 40 thoracic plans (including 208 beams) were selected, and four error types with different magnitudes were introduced into the original plans, including 1) collimator misalignment (COLL), 2) monitor unit (MU) variation, 3) systematic multileaf collimator misalignment (MLCS), and 4) random MLC misalignment (MLCR). These dose distributions of portal dose predictions for the original plans were defined as the reference dose distributions (RDD), while those for the error-introduced plans were defined as the error-introduced dose distributions (EDD).

[The expression and function of PD-L1 in CD133(+) human liver cancer stem-like cells].

To investigate the expression of programmed death protein-ligand 1 (PD-L1) in liver cancer stem-like cells (LCSLC) and its effect on the characteristics of tumor stem cells and tumor biological function, to explore the upstream signaling pathway regulating PD-L1 expression in LCSLC and the downstream molecular mechanism of PD-L1 regulating stem cell characteristics, also tumor biological functions. HepG2 was cultured by sphere-formating method to obtain LCSLC. The expressions of CD133 and other stemness markers were detected by flow cytometry, western blot and real-time quantitative polymerase chain reaction (RT-qPCR) were used to detect the expressions of stemness markers and PD-L1.
