We present the case of a 65-year-old man with bilateral keratoconus and history of bilateral penetrating keratoplasty (PK) who developed gradual visual decline in the left eye due to cataract formation. Following successful left eye cataract surgery and monofocal, non-toric intraocular lens (IOL) in-the-bag implantation, the patient experienced persistently low uncorrected distance visual acuity (UDVA) due to high residual refractive error and intolerance to contact lenses. A supplementary toric IOL was placed in the ciliary sulcus, but subsequent rotational instability of the lens required repeated realignment.

Conduction system pacing is an alternative practice to conventional right ventricular apical pacing. It is a method that maintains physiologic ventricular activation, based on a correct pathophysiological basis, in which the pacing lead bypasses the lesion of the electrical fibers and the electrical impulse transmits through the intact adjacent conduction system. For this reason, it might be reasonably characterized by the term "electrical bypass" compared to the coronary artery bypass in revascularization therapy.

Backgound: The number of endovascular abdominal aortic aneurysm repairs (EVARs) has surpassed the number of open surgical repair of AAAs worldwide with a great variety of endografts being available. The aim of this study is to conduct a systematic review of the literature and meta-analysis of studies reporting patients with infrarenal abdominal aortic aneurysm (AAA) subjected to EVAR with the Anaconda endograft.
Methods: We performed a systematic review of multiple electronic databases for studies including patients with infrarenal AAA who were subjected to elective EVAR with Anaconda endograft exclusively.
Background Hospital-acquired infections are a common problem in Intensive Care Units and are associated with significant morbidity, mortality, and cost of hospitalization. Despite the development of prevention and control strategies, the incidence of hospital-acquired infections remains consistently high in ICUs and is often associated with the practices of healthcare professionals in patient care. Purpose The aim of the study was to investigate the perceptions of ICU nursing staff regarding measures for the prevention of hospital-acquired infections.

Background: The advent of the new coronavirus SARS-CoV-2 has created unprecedented situations, both in terms of health and socio-economic level, worldwide. The emergence of vaccines against this highly contagious virus has raised hopes for its effective inhibition. The efficacy of vaccines, in more than a year of their application in clinical practice, is indisputable, both in terms of reducing serious hospitalizations and deaths, especially in high-risk populations.

Introduction: Myocardial infarction with non-obstructive coronary arteries (MINOCA) occurs in 5%-15% of all patients with acute myocardial infarction. Cardiac MR (CMR) and optical coherence tomography have been used to identify the underlying pathophysiological mechanism in MINOCA. The role of cardiac CT angiography (CCTA) in patients with MINOCA, however, has not been well studied so far.

The coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) is associated with increased mortality in patients with chronic kidney disease (CKD), dialysis patients and kidney transplant recipients (KTR). Cardiovascular complications, such as sudden arrhythmias, thromboembolic events, coronary events, cardiomyopathies and heart failure, may present in about 10-20% of patients with COVID-19. Patients with CKD, dialysis patients and KTR are all at increased cardiovascular risk and present with more cardiovascular complications after COVID-19 compared to the general population.

First branchial cleft anomalies (FBCAs) are the most infrequent malformations that occur during the development of the branchial apparatus, appearing in less than 8% of all branchial anomalies. Traditionally, they are classified into Work type I and II, depending on their origin. We present a pair of rare FBCAs: a case of a preauricular Work type I cyst with twin fistulae coursing toward the parotid gland and a Work type II cyst of significant dimensions.

Introduction: Transesophageal overdrive pacing is an accepted method for the diagnosis and treatment of supraventricular tachycardias, although is not used frequently in clinical practice.
Case Report: A 47 years old woman is reported with a medical history of β -Thalassemia Major admitted to our hospital with atrial tachycardia of recent onset and successfully converted using a transesophageal overdrive atrial pacing.
Conclusion: Transesophageal overdrive atrial pacing is a low cost, simple and safe procedure that can be performed at the bedside, especially in patients, as those with β -Thalassemia Major, whose health status makes difficult the usage of medicines that could possibly aggravate their general health status.

During the past decade, vision problems that were attributed to the use of electronic screens have gradually shifted from being a workplace health issue to a wider public health issue. "Computer vision syndrome" originally related to the few professionals exposed to long hours of work in front of a computer screen. The widespread use of digital screens in devices used throughout the day have led to the emergence of "digital eye strain" as a new clinical syndrome that affects every individual who spends a large period of time fixated on multiple screens, for work or leisure.

Introduction: Platelets play a crucial role in thrombotic episodes. Mean Platelet Volume (MPV) is the primary indicator of platelet's activation; its measurement is easy and time-effective.
Aim: We tested the hypothesis that MPV is correlated with SYNTAX score in patients that suffered from an Acute Coronary Syndrome (ACS).
