Its main histological type is germ cell tumor, that is divided into seminomatous and non-seminomatous tumors. Seminoma, consisting 55% of testicular cancer, manifests in the fourth decade of men's life and a rare type of it is the anaplastic seminoma (5% to 15% of testicular seminoma).

In this study a sample of Greek forensic patients suffering from psychotic disorders was examined regarding demographic, clinical, legal and psychometric characteristics. All patients had committed a crime and were found not guilty by reason of insanity (NGRIs) in a court of law.

Coagulation Disorders And Mortality In Burn Injury: A Systematic Review.

Even though coagulopathy is a familiar entity in trauma, its relationship to burn injury remains unclear. Literature appears inconsistent as to the conclusions of the use of coagulation assays, either routine methods or newer viscoelastic coagulation assays (VCAs), thromboelastography (TEG) and rotational thromboelastometry (ROTEM), for prediction of patients' coagulation status and mortality. The use of diagnostic assays as mortality markers will be of great importance, since they would recognize at early stages patients with great medical demands and objectify burn injury severity.

Facial penetrating injuries can cause retention of foreign bodies in the frontal sinus. This rare condition can remain underdiagnosed for years, since non-specific symptoms, such as headaches and nasal obstruction, can be developed. So far, removal by an endoscopic approach is the most preferred treatment option because it is less invasive with a short recovery time.

The Supraclavicular Artery Island Flap for Pharynx Reconstruction.

The supraclavicular artery island flap (SCAIF) is a reliable, easy-to-harvest and versatile fasciocutaneous flap that can be used for pharynx reconstruction. Instead of free flaps, it requires no microsurgical technique, reduced operating time and postoperative care, making it an ideal option, especially during the COVID-19 pandemic. The primary aim of our study was to present two cases of a total laryngectomy and reconstruction with the SCAIF during the pandemic.

Head and neck cancer (HNC) comprises a heterogeneous variety of malignant tumors, characterized by a relatively high tumor mutation burden. Previous data have revealed that immune system dysfunction appears to serve a key role in the development and progression of HNC and established immunosuppression is vital for evading the host immune response. Despite progress in chemotherapy and radiotherapy, the survival rate of patients with HNC is still low.

Phenotyping exercise limitation of patients with Interstitial Fibrosing Lung Disease: the importance of exercise hemodynamics.

Introduction And Objective: Left-heart dysfunction and pulmonary vasculopathy are increasingly recognized as contributing factors of exercise capacity limitation in interstitial fibrosing lung disease (IFLD). Moreover, the clinical significance of exercise pulmonary hypertension (ePH) in pulmonary and cardiac diseases has been documented, representing a risk factor for decreased exercise capacity and survival, progression to resting pulmonary hypertension (PH) and overall clinical worsening. We conducted a prospective study aiming at: (a) assessing the prevalence of PH and ePH in a cohort of 40 functionally limited patients with IFLD, (b) determining the post-capillary (postC) or pre-capillary (preC) etiology of either PH or ePH in this cohort, and (c) examining the correlations between invasively and non-invasively measured exercise variables among hemodynamic groups.

The role of omega-3 (n-3) fatty acids has been investigated in clinical trials with promising results. The aim of this study is to provide a detailed summary of the evidence about the efficacy of n-3 in the treatment of pediatric NAFLD.

Reconstruction of a massive defect of the neck after a scorpion sting: A case report.

Introduction: Cutaneous traumas from scorpion sting envenomation are rare in European countries. Regarding Greece, complex is the most widespread scorpion species. The venom of these small dark brown arthropods, which shelter in woods, usually provokes local cutaneous symptoms: erythema, edema, cellulitis, urticarial plaques, ulcers and rarely skin necrosis.

Intraductal papilloma of the sublingual gland imitating a ranula.

Ductal papillomas are rare benign lesions of the salivary glands with two distinctive types, intraductal and inverted. The rarest anatomical location where intraductal papillomas occur is the major salivary glands. In the present study, we report an intraductal papilloma of the left sublingual gland with the relevant clinical, imaging, and histopathological findings and postoperative follow-up.

Τhe anthropometric and biochemical profile of pediatric non-alcoholic fatty liver disease: A systematic review and a meta-analysis.

Background & Aims: Non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) is the most common liver disease in children and one of the leading indications for liver transplantation in adults. However, current screening methods are inadequate and are accompanied by several disadvantages. This meta-analysis aims to identify the anthropometrical and biochemical characteristics most commonly appearing in pediatric NAFLD that could contribute to the diagnosis of the disease in the every-day clinical setting.

Feelings of Loneliness and Social Dissatisfaction in Siblings of Children with Autism Spectrum Disorders: The Role of Birth Order and Perceived Social Support.

Loneliness has been associated with several adverse psychosocial outcomes in childhood and adolescence. The present study aimed to investigate feelings of loneliness and social dissatisfaction in school-aged typically-developing (TD) siblings of children with an autism spectrum disorder (ASD). For this purpose, 118 siblings of children with ASD and 115 siblings of TD children and one of their parents participated in this study.

Diagnosis and management of combined post- and precapillary pulmonary hypertension in a patient with multiple comorbidities.

Diagnosis of pulmonary hypertension requires a laborious investigation that must be performed in accordance with international guidelines. Right-heart catheterization is the gold standard examination to assess the degree of hemodynamic impairment of post- or precapillary origin, guiding management. The presence of comorbidities is becoming rather frequent in real-life pulmonary hypertension cases, thus creating diagnostic and therapeutic complexity.

Reduction in Hospitalizations for Respiratory Diseases during the First COVID-19 Wave in Greece.

Introduction: During the first COVID-19 wave, a considerable decline in hospital admissions was observed worldwide.

Aim: This retrospective cohort study aimed to assess if there were any changes in the number of patients hospitalized for respiratory diseases in Greece during the first CO-VID-19 wave.

Methods: In the present study, we evaluated respiratory disease hospitalization rates across 9 tertiary hospitals in Greece during the study period (March-April 2020) and the corresponding period of the 2 previous years (2018-2019) that served as the control periods.

Giant Adrenocortical Carcinoma: A Case Report and Review of the Relevant Literature.

BACKGROUND Adrenocortical carcinomas are rare and aggressive tumors often diagnosed as incidentalomas. The malignancy can present with abnormal hormone secretion or the tumor may be non-functioning and present as a palpable mass causing discomfort. Here, we present a case of an adrenal cortical carcinoma originally identified as an incidentaloma.

Pulmonary rehabilitation for cystic fibrosis: A narrative review of current literature.

Pulmonary rehabilitation is a key component in cystic fibrosis care.  This review summarizes the recent evidence in the area of pulmonary rehabilitation for cystic fibrosis in the form of questions and answers regarding interventions, indications, benefits and risks of pulmonary rehabilitation. Pulmonary rehabilitation includes airway clearance techniques, exercise training, education and behaviour change and can improve patients' exercise capacity, muscle strength, quality of life and nutritional status.

Unilateral Submandibular Gland Aplasia with Ipsilateral Sublingual Ranula - A Case Report.

Background: Congenital aplasia of major salivary glands is a very rare entity, especially if it concerns an ipsilateral aplasia in a nonsyndromic patient.

Key Points From The Case: The aim of this report is to present a case of an aplasia of the left submandibular gland, which was incidentally diagnosed during presurgical imaging for an ipsilateral sublingual ranula. Histopathological evidence of the lack of sublingual gland tissue in the excised specimen of the ranula is discussed.

Background: Increasing scientific evidence shows the significant role of epigenetic mechanisms in drug use disorder, abstinence and relapse. Studies on human subjects are limited compared to those on animals, for various reasons such as poly-substance abuse, high drop-out rate and technical difficulties.

Objectives: Our goal was to evaluate whether a monitored abstinence period of 21 days could induce changes in global DNA methylation in chronic heroin users.

The aim of this study was to compare the baseline characteristics (demographic, psychiatric-psychopathological and legal) among Greek forensic patients found not guilty by reason of insanity. The first step of this approach being differentiating patients who committed a criminal offense during their first psychotic episode from the ones who did so later in the course of their illness. All patients were hospitalized in the Department of Forensic Psychiatry (DFP) of the Psychiatric Hospital of Thessaloniki (PHT) from January 2015 to January 2020 and were examined in order to be included in the study.

Metastatic myxoid liposarcoma to the tongue: a unique intraoral metastasis.

The first case of a myxoid liposarcoma metastatic to the tongue of a 78-year-old male patient with primary scrotal liposarcoma for the past seven years is reported. The patient presented with a firm exophytic mass of the left dorsal surface of the tongue, sized 4 to 4.5 cm, with oedema and bleeding.
