A Case Report of Glomus Tympanicum Complicated With Facial Nerve Palsy.

Introduction: Generally, glomus tumors are considered tumors of the autonomic system arising from chromaffin cells of the parasympathetic paraganglia of the skull base and neck. Glomus tympanicum is the most common primary tumor of the middle ear cavity and it arises from the paraganglia of the middle ear.

Case Report: We present a case of glomus tympanicum presented in a 70-year-old woman, complicated with facial nerve palsy which at first sight was misdiagnosed as cholesteatoma.

A Case of Dedifferentiated Laryngeal Liposarcoma With Metachronous Transformation Into a Neoplasm With Myxofibrosarcomatous Elements.

Liposarcomas are rare mesenchymal tissue tumors and are divided into subtypes based on their histopathological characteristics. They are mostly well-differentiated neoplasms with the tendency to recur locally. Lymph node involvement or distant metastases have been reported as extremely rare.

The significance of double mandibular osteotomy for surgical treatment of large aneurysm of internal carotid artery above mandibular angle. A case report and literature review.

The aim of this study is to report a case of an unusual large aneurysm of the internal carotid approached with a doubly mandibular osteotomy in order to prove the significance and the excellent result of the specified surgical procedure because of the cooperation of maxillofacial and vascular surgeons. The double mandibular osteotomy is described, as well as the bypass of the aneurysm and the anastomosis of the peripheral edges of the artery. The double mandibular osteotomy can deliver the internal carotid artery from the bifurcation to its entrance to the skull base through the carotid canal and can offer the opportunity to the vascular surgeon to perform the anastomosis easily, quickly and safely.

Methods: In-person follow-up was conducted in patients with prior hospitalization due to COVID-19 1(Τ1), 3(Τ2), and 6 (Τ3) months after hospital discharge.

Coagulation Disorders And Mortality In Burn Injury: A Systematic Review.

Even though coagulopathy is a familiar entity in trauma, its relationship to burn injury remains unclear. Literature appears inconsistent as to the conclusions of the use of coagulation assays, either routine methods or newer viscoelastic coagulation assays (VCAs), thromboelastography (TEG) and rotational thromboelastometry (ROTEM), for prediction of patients' coagulation status and mortality. The use of diagnostic assays as mortality markers will be of great importance, since they would recognize at early stages patients with great medical demands and objectify burn injury severity.

Background: Chronic respiratory conditions are a prominent public health issue and thus, building a patient registry might facilitate both policy decision making and improvement of clinical management processes. Hellenic Registry of patients with Home Mechanical Ventilation (HR-HMV) was initiated in 2017 and a web-based platform is used to support patient data collection. Eighteen hospital departments (including sleep labs) across Greece participate in this initiative, focusing on recording data for both children and adult patients supported by mechanical ventilation at home, including patients with Sleep Apnea-Hypopnea Syndrome (SAHS) under Positive Airway Pressure (PAP) therapy.

Cross-Cultural Adaptation and Validation of the Greek SPOT-25 Quality of Life Questionnaire in Patients with Otosclerosis.

To translate, adapt and validate in Greek the stapesplasty outcome test (SPOT)-25 quality of life questionnaire for patients with otosclerosis. SPOT-25 was translated to Greek and completed by otosclerosis patients on the day of diagnosis, the day before surgery and three months postoperatively.
