Penile paraffinoma is a rare condition after penile injection of liquid paraffin or other mineral oils, with well-documented debilitating complications. Nevertheless, such injections are still performed by people of Eastern European and Asian descent for cosmetic penile augmentation. We report a case of penile paraffinoma in an otherwise healthy, 30-year-old male, with obstructive lower urinary tract symptoms (LUTS) as the sole complaint at presentation in the emergency department and a conservative approach.

Numerous models and biomarkers have been proposed to estimate prognosis and improve decision-making in patients with acute heart failure (AHF). The present literature review provides a critical appraisal of externally validated prognostic models in AHF, combining clinical data and biomarkers. We perform a literature review of clinical studies, using the following terms: "acute heart failure," "acute decompensated heart failure," "prognostic models," "risk scores," "mortality," "death," "hospitalization," "admission," and "biomarkers.

Introduction: Tyrosine kinase inhibitors (TKIs) have been used in patients with advanced medullary thyroid carcinoma (MTC); however, data on their effectiveness and safety are limited. The aim of this systematic review and meta-analysis was to document clinical response and toxicities of TKIs in advanced MTC.
Methods: We systematically searched major databases for articles or abstracts on TKI use in MTC patients until May 2018.

The "POWERFUL" multicenter, retrospective, and prospective study investigated the effectiveness of pomalidomide plus low-dose dexamethasone (POM/LoDex) therapy in relapsed/refractory multiple myeloma in routine care in Greece. Ninety-nine eligible adult patients treated with POM/LoDex according to the approved label after having received ≥2 prior therapies, including lenalidomide and bortezomib, were consecutively enrolled between 16 November 2017 and 21 February 2019 in 18 hematology departments. Fifty patients (50.

Background: R-CHOP can cure approximately 75% of patients with primary mediastinal large B-cell lymphoma (PMLBCL), but prognostic factors have not been sufficiently evaluated yet. R-da- EPOCH is potentially more effective but also more toxic than R-CHOP. Reliable prognostic classification is needed to guide treatment decisions.

Background: Neonates and infants requiring anaesthesia are at risk of physiological instability and complications, but triggers for peri-anaesthetic interventions and associations with subsequent outcome are unknown.
Methods: This prospective, observational study recruited patients up to 60 weeks' postmenstrual age undergoing anaesthesia for surgical or diagnostic procedures from 165 centres in 31 European countries between March 2016 and January 2017. The primary aim was to identify thresholds of pre-determined physiological variables that triggered a medical intervention.

This case series aimed to describe the ocular abnormalities occurring in β-thalassemia patients who need regular blood transfusions and receive iron chelation therapy.
Case Series: This is a case series prospectively studied 32 β-thalassemia patients from Northern Greece receiving regular blood transfusions and iron-chelating therapy.

Atrial fibrillation (AF) and diabetes mellitus (DM) are commonly encountered in clinical practice. Although, the long term macrovascular and microvascular sequela of DM are well validated, the association between the less prevalent type 1 DM (T1DM) and atrial arrhythmogenesis is poorly understood. In the present review we highlight the current experimental and clinical data addressing this complex interaction.

Transplant-ineligible relapsed/refractory (rr) diffuse large B-cell lymphoma (DLBCL) patients represent an unmet medical need. Polatuzumab vedotin (Pola), an anti-CD79b antibody-drug-conjugate (ADG), with bendamustine- rituximab(BR) has recently gained approval for these patients, both in the USA and Europe, based on the GO29365 phase IIb trial. Real-life data with Pola are extremely limited.

CD4+ T cells orchestrate immune responses and are actively engaged in shaping tumor immunity. Signal transducer and activator of transcription (STAT) signaling controls the epigenetic tuning of CD4+ T-cell differentiation and polarization, and perturbed STAT signaling networks in CD4+ T cells subvert antitumor immunity in malignancies. Azacitidine (AZA), the mainstay therapy for high-risk myelodysplastic syndromes (HR-MDS), affects CD4+ T-cell polarization and function, but whether this contributes to AZA efficacy is currently unknown.

Background & Objective: Significant advances in the field of male infertility have been witnessed during the last years. Given the well-known detrimental effects of reactive oxygen species (ROS), the administration of antioxidants has emerged as a promising solution for oxidative stress (OS)-induced male infertility. Nevertheless, this perception seems largely oversimplified, and the existing literature fails to recognize a notable superiority of the excessive use of these widely available nutritional compounds.

End-of-treatment (EoT) PET/CT is used as a guide to omit radiotherapy (RT) patients with primary mediastinal large B-cell lymphoma (PMBCL). We present the mature and extended results of a retrospective study evaluating the prognostic significance of EoT-PET/CT after adequate response to R-CHOP. Among 231 consecutive PMLBCL patients, 182 underwent EoT-PET/CT and were evaluated according to the Deauville 5-point scale (D5PS) criteria.
