Background: Accurate calculation of lung cancer dose using the Monte Carlo (MC) algorithm in CyberKnife (CK) is essential for precise planning. We aim to employ deep learning to directly predict the 3D dose distribution calculated by the MC algorithm, enabling rapid and accurate automatic planning. However, most current methods solely focus on conventional intensity-modulated radiation therapy and assume a consistent beam configuration across all patients.

Objective: To evaluate the predictive value of neutrophil free fatty acid receptor 3 (FFAR3) for secondary infection in patients with severe acute pancreatitis (SAP).
Methods: (1) Biological information analysis: peripheral blood microarray data sets related to acute pancreatitis (GSE194331) were obtained from the Gene Expression Omnibus (GEO), including data from 32 healthy adults, 52 patients with mild acute pancreatitis, 20 patients with moderate-to-severe acute pancreatitis, and 10 patients with SAP. The original data of GSE194331 dataset were downloaded for quality control, pruning, quantification, annotation and difference analysis, and the different genes were obtained.

Objectives: The relationship between statin treatment and fracture risk is still controversial, especially in in patients with cardiovascular diseases (CVDs). We aim to determine whether statin therapy affects the occurrence of fractures in the general US population and in patients with CVDs.
Methods: Epidemiological data of this cross-sectional study were extracted from the National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey (NHANES, 2001-2020, n = 9,893).

Metabolism-related pathways are important targets for intervention in the treatment of hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC), but few studies have reported on the combination of inhibitors of folate metabolism-related enzymes and molecularly targeted drugs for HCC. The results of the present work are the first to reveal the effects of an inhibitor of dihydrofolate reductase (DHFR), pralatrexate, on the sensitivity of HCC cells to molecularly targeted agents examined using multiple assays. In HCC cells, knockdown of DHFR or treatment with pralatrexate enhanced the sensitivity of HCC cells to molecularly targeted agents, such as sorafenib, regorafenib, lenvatinib, cabozantinib, or anlotinib.

In recent years, the incidence of thyroid cancer has surged globally, posing significant challenges in its diagnosis, treatment, and prognosis. Exosomes, as a class of extracellular vesicles, are secreted by nearly all cell types and encapsulate a variety of nucleic acids and proteins reflective of their cell of origin, thereby facilitating critical intercellular communication. Recent advancements in understanding these exosomes have catalyzed their application in oncology, particularly through uncovering their roles in the pathogenesis, diagnosis, and therapy of cancers.

Cryptococcus is a pathogenic fungus that poses a threat to human health. Conventional detection methods have limited the rapid and accurate qualitative and quantitative analysis of Cryptococcus, affecting early diagnosis and treatment. In this study, we developed a Point-of-Care Testing (POCT) platform that integrates lateral flow immunoassay (LFIA) with smartphones, enabling both rapid qualitative and quantitative detection of Cryptococcus.

Background: While metabolic-associated fatty liver disease (MAFLD) is widely recognized as a risk factor for cardiovascular disease (CVD), the connection between the dynamic patterns of severity of hepatic steatosis and the associated CVD risk remains uncertain.
Method: This study included 71,098 participants from the Kailuan Study without CVD or cancer who underwent two consecutive biennial health screenings between 2006 and 2008 and were followed up until 2022. MAFLD and its severity were assessed using ultrasound.

Background: Alzheimer's disease (AD), an age-progressive neurodegenerative disease, is featured by a relentless deterioration of cognitive abilities. In parallel with the hypotheses of Aβ and tau, microglia-mediated neuroinflammation is a core pathological hallmark of AD. Promoting the transition of microglia from M1 to M2 phenotype and inhibition of neuroinflammatory response provide new insights into the treatment of AD.

Background: Cell death plays an essential role in carcinogenesis, but its function in the recurrence and postoperative prognosis of head and neck cancer (HNC), which ranks as the 7 most common malignancy globally, remains unclear.
Methods: Data from five main subtypes of HNC related single-cell RNA sequencing (scRNA-seq) were recruited to establish a single-cell atlas, and the distribution of cell death models (CDMs) across different tissues as well as cell subtypes were analyzed. Bulk RNA-seq from the Cancer Genome Atlas Program (TCGA) dataset was subjected to a machine learning-based integrative procedure for constructing a consensus cell death-related signature risk score (CDRscore) model and validated by external data.

Background: Bilateral optic neuritis associated with optic disc swelling is a common feature of myelin oligodendrocyte glycoprotein antibody-associated disease (MOGAD). However, extensive deep retinal haemorrhages have not been described in the context of MOG-associated optic neuritis. Here, we report a case of infectious mononucleosis with marked binocular peripapillary and perivascular haemorrhages as well as extensive deep retinal haemorrhages in the presence of MOGAD.

Objective: Utilizing the FAERS database, this study aims to analyze the ADE signals of sacituzumab govitecan to provide references for clinical safety.
Methods: By searching the US FAERS database, we applied Reporting Odds Ratio (ROR) and Proportional Reporting Ratio (PRR) methods to analyze ADE reports for sacituzumab govitecan from Q2 2020 to Q4 2023, covering 15 quarters.
Results: The total number of reports with sacituzumab govitecan as the first suspicion was 2854.

The redox status is intricately linked to the development and progression of cancer, a process that can be modulated by long non-coding RNAs (lncRNAs). Previous studies have demonstrated that redox regulation can be considered a potential therapeutic approach for cancer. However, the redox-related lncRNA predictive signature specific to bladder cancer (BCa) has yet to be fully elucidated.

Background/aims: Colorectal cancer (CRC) is one of the deadliest cancers worldwide, mostly arising from adenomatous polyps. Mounting evidence has demonstrated that changes in the gut microbiome play key roles in CRC progression, while quite few studies focused on the altered microbiota architecture of advanced adenoma (AA), a crucial precancerous stage of CRC. Thus, we aimed to investigate the microbial profiles of AA patients.

Biological scaffolds are widely utilized in hernia treatment due to their exceptional pro-regenerative properties, which mitigate scar formation. However, serious complications occurred, caused by inflammatory response, premature degradation, and mechanical failure. Consequently, improvements of the biological scaffold are necessary to mitigate these risks.
