Purpose: This research evaluated the morphological differences of temporomandibular joint (TMJ) between patients with obstructive sleep apnea hypopnea Syndrome (OSAHS) and normal population using magnetic resonance imaging (MRI).

Methods: Eighteen OSAHS patients were admitted from January 2014 to May 2016 and 18 healthy adults were chosen as control. OSAHS patients were divided into three sub-groups (n=6), i.

Objective: To evaluate a new method to plan the incisions of thoracic surgical operation with robot using three-dimensional (3D) reconstruction techniques.

Methods: Three-dimensional reconstruction techniques were used to reconstruct the chest CT of patients with the software OSIRIX (APPLE®). Tumor location, size and relationship with the vein and artery were unambiguously obtained.

In this study, the relationship between CpG island methylation and smoking and DNA methyltransferase in the occurrence and development of lung adenocarcinoma was explored by detecting p16 promoter methylation status. Protein and mRNA levels of p16 were detected by immunohistochemistry and in situ hybridization assays. p16 gene promoter and exon 1 CpG island locus Hap II sites methylation status was analyzed with the methylation-specific PCR.

The aim of this study was to explore the association of CpG islands methylation of liver kinase B1 (LKB1) with primary lung cancer and smoking, providing a theoretical basis for the demethylating drug to treat lung cancer by detecting the LKB1 promoter CpG methylation. mRNA expression of LKB1 were detected by in situ hybridization and methylation status on Hap II locus of the promoter of LKB1 was analyzed by methylation-specific polymerase chain reaction (PCR). 7 of 80 LKB1 positive cases had methylation on CpG islands while 18 of 44 LKB1 negative cases had methylation on CpG islands.

Total ginsenosides synergize with ulinastatin (UTI) against septic acute lung injury (ALI) and acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS). We randomly divided 80 cases of severe sepsis-induced ALI and ARDS into a UTI group and a ginsenosides (GS)+UTI group. Continuous electrocardiac monitoring of pulse, respiratory rate, blood pressure, and heart rate; invasive hemodynamic monitoring; ventilator-assisted breathing and circulation support; and anti-infection as well as UTI treatment were given in the UTI group with GS treatment added for 7 consecutive days in the GS+UTI group.

Atrial fibrillation (AF) is a major cause of thromboembolic (TE) events including stroke and transient ischemic attacks, catheter radiofrequency ablation (CA) has been demonstrated to effectively eliminate AF in majority of patients. During the peri-procedural CA of AF, dabigatran, a reversible direct thrombin inhibitor, has been proved as safe and efficacy as warfarin in the prevention of thromboembolic complication. However, for patients with CHADS2 score ≥3, sometimes dabigatran may not be an ideal substitute of warfarin.

We aimed to investigate the influence of nuclear factor-κB (NF-κB) on the biological behavior of Y79 retinoblastoma cells exposed to hypoxia and its possible mechanism. The cells were administrated with hypoxia, and/or 5 μM pyrrolidine dithiocarbamate (PDTC) (a selective NF-κB inhibitor) to inhibit the NF-κB activity, expressions of NF-κB was measured by western blot, and the translocation of NF-κB was detected. To examine the proliferation of Y79 cells, MTT assay was applied.

[The value of ultrasound in diagnosis of IgG4-related sialadenitis].

Shanghai Kou Qiang Yi Xue

December 2014

Department of Ultrasound, South Building Clinic Division, General Hospital of PLA. Beijing 100853,

Purpose: To study the ultrasonic manifestation of IgG4-related sialadenitis, and improve sonographers' understanding of this disease.

Methods: Based on the clinical serological test and histopathologic diagnosis, the features were evaluated by sonography in 25 cases of IgG4-related sialadenitis, including the shape and border of the gland, internal echo texture, presence and distribution of vascularity, duct dilatation, presence/absence of calculi and submandibular lymph nodes. The changes on ultrasonography in 14 patients with IgG4-related sialadenitis before and after steroid treatment were evaluated.

Article Synopsis
  • * Experiments involved using different glucose concentrations and analyzing the impact of a protein called SDF-1 on BMSC migration, finding that high glucose reduces migration while SDF-1 generally promotes it.
  • * Results indicate that high glucose not only hampers BMSC migration but also decreases the levels and expression of both CXCR-4 and MMP-2, highlighting the role of the SDF-1/CXCR-4 pathway in this process.

Objective: To evaluate the relationship between the expression of lung resistance-related protein (lrp) gene or multidrug resistance-associated protein (mrp) gene and prognosis in untreated acute leukemia (AL) patients.

Methods: Reverse transcriptase-polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR) was used to examine the expression of lrp and mrp gene in 58 newly diagnosed AL patients.

Results: The positive rate of lrp and mrp gene expression in newly diagnosed acute lymphocytic leukemia (ALL) group was 15.
