Herein, biomass-derived multilayer-structured absorbable microparticles (MQ T ) composed of starches and plant polyphenols are readily constructed for the safe and effective treatment of bone defects with intractable bleeding by coating multiple layers of quaternized starch (Q) and tannic acid onto microporous starch microparticles via facile layer-by-layer assembly. MQ T microparticles exhibit efficient degradability, low cytotoxicity, and good blood compatibility.

We conducted research to detect the proteomic profiles in synovial fluid (SF) from knee osteoarthritis (OA) patients to better understand the pathogenesis and aetiology of OA. Our long-term goal is to identify reliable candidate biomarkers for OA in SF. The SF proteins obtained from 10 knee OA patients and 10 non-OA patients (9 of whom were patients with a meniscus injury in the knee; 1 had a discoid meniscus in the knee, and all exhibited intact articular cartilage) were separated by two-dimensional electrophoresis (2-DE).

Purpose: Diabetes is a great risk factor for dementia and mild cognitive impairment (MCI). This study investigates whether complex network-derived features in resting state EEG (rsEEG) could be applied as a biomarker to distinguish amnestic mild cognitive impairment (aMCI) from normal cognitive function in subjects with type 2 diabetes (T2D).

Method: In this study, EEG was recorded in 28 patients with T2D (16 aMCI patients and 12 controls) during a no-task eyes-closed resting state.

The aim of this study was to explore the association of CpG islands methylation of liver kinase B1 (LKB1) with primary lung cancer and smoking, providing a theoretical basis for the demethylating drug to treat lung cancer by detecting the LKB1 promoter CpG methylation. mRNA expression of LKB1 were detected by in situ hybridization and methylation status on Hap II locus of the promoter of LKB1 was analyzed by methylation-specific polymerase chain reaction (PCR). 7 of 80 LKB1 positive cases had methylation on CpG islands while 18 of 44 LKB1 negative cases had methylation on CpG islands.

Prospective memory (PM) refers to the ability to remember to perform intended actions in the future. Although PM deficits are a prominent impairment in schizophrenia, little is still known about the nature of PM in symptomatically remitted patients with schizophrenia. To address this issue, event-related brain potentials (ERPs) were recorded from 20 symptomatically remitted patients with schizophrenia and 20 healthy controls during an event-based PM paradigm.

We randomly divided 80 cases of severe sepsis-induced ALI and ARDS into a UTI group and a ginsenosides (GS)+UTI group. Continuous electrocardiac monitoring of pulse, respiratory rate, blood pressure, and heart rate; invasive hemodynamic monitoring; ventilator-assisted breathing and circulation support; and anti-infection as well as UTI treatment were given in the UTI group with GS treatment added for 7 consecutive days in the GS+UTI group.

Atrial fibrillation (AF) is a major cause of thromboembolic (TE) events including stroke and transient ischemic attacks, catheter radiofrequency ablation (CA) has been demonstrated to effectively eliminate AF in majority of patients. During the peri-procedural CA of AF, dabigatran, a reversible direct thrombin inhibitor, has been proved as safe and efficacy as warfarin in the prevention of thromboembolic complication. However, for patients with CHADS2 score ≥3, sometimes dabigatran may not be an ideal substitute of warfarin.

We aimed to investigate the influence of nuclear factor-κB (NF-κB) on the biological behavior of Y79 retinoblastoma cells exposed to hypoxia and its possible mechanism. The cells were administrated with hypoxia, and/or 5 μM pyrrolidine dithiocarbamate (PDTC) (a selective NF-κB inhibitor) to inhibit the NF-κB activity, expressions of NF-κB was measured by western blot, and the translocation of NF-κB was detected. To examine the proliferation of Y79 cells, MTT assay was applied.

This research is to investigate the role of tolerant spleen dendritic cells (DC) in multiple organs dysfunction syndromes (MODS) at late stage. Tolerant DC and MODS were induced by intraperotineal injection of zymosan. The immunity of DC was determined by examining interleukin (IL)-10, IL-12, IL-2, major histocompatibility complex (MHC), CD86, programmed death (PD-1), programmed death ligand 1 (PD-L1), paired immunoglobulin-like receptor B (PIR-B) or T-cell proliferation in serum, spleen homogenate, DC culture or DC/T-cell co-culture.
