Postoperative pulmonary complications (PPCs) are common in patients undergoing general anesthesia, with atelectasis being a key contributor that increases postoperative mortality and prolongs hospitalization. Our research hypothesis is that ultrasound-guided individualized PEEP titration can reduce postoperative atelectasis. This single-center randomized controlled trial recruited elderly patients for laparoscopic surgery.

BACKGROUND Vasovagal syncope is a loss of consciousness caused by decreased arterial pressure and cerebral blood flow. The characteristic features of vasovagal syncope include cardiovascular inhibition caused by neural reflexes, accompanied by vasodilation and bradycardia. To date, there is little literature to report several episodes of syncope under spinal anesthesia during the perioperative period for drainage of an anal abscess.
