A new anti-fibrinolytic hemostatic compound 8-O-acetyl shanzhiside methylester extracted from Lamiophlomis rotata.

J Ethnopharmacol

July 2016

Department of Pharmacy, General Hospital of Lanzhou Command of PLA, Lanzhou, China; Department of Pharmaceutics, School of Pharmacy, Lanzhou University, Lanzhou, China. Electronic address:

Article Synopsis
  • The study investigates the hemostatic properties of Lamiophlomis rotata, identifying 8-O-Acetyl shanzhiside methylester (ASM) as the main compound responsible for its anti-fibrinolytic activity.
  • ASM effectively reduced blood loss and clotting times in animal models of traumatic hemorrhage and hyperfibrinolysis, suggesting its potential as a new fibrinolysis inhibitor.
  • Unlike traditional antifibrinolytics, ASM does not negatively affect other clotting parameters, making it a promising alternative for managing excessive bleeding.

Article Synopsis
  • Nitric oxide (NO) has dual roles as both a pro-oxidant and antioxidant in biological systems and has been shown to enhance survival in high-altitude conditions.
  • Researchers synthesized various isosorbide mononitrate derivatives to explore their protective effects against hypoxia, specifically finding that acetyl ferulic isosorbide mononitrate (AFIM) was the most effective in prolonging survival times in mice.
  • AFIM demonstrated antioxidative properties by maintaining normal levels of key antioxidant enzymes and decreasing damaging compounds, suggesting its protective effects may be linked to sustained NO release and the antioxidant activity of acetyl ferulic acid.

September 2014

Department of Pharmacy , General Hospital of Lanzhou command of PLA , Lanzhou 730050, China. ; Department of Pharmaceutics, School of Pharmacy, Fourth Military Medical University, Xi ' an 710032 , China.

Article Synopsis
  • - A new method for analyzing fudosteine in human serum using HPLC-ESI/MS/MS was developed, demonstrating high sensitivity and selectivity.
  • - The method involved a mobile phase of 75% 20 mM acetic acid and 25% acetonitrile, with a quick run time of about 7 minutes and an injection volume of 10 μL.
  • - The calibration curve was linear from 0.1 to 15.0 µg/mL, with a determination coefficient of over 0.9998, making the method reliable, accurate, and easy to use, with minimal sample preparation needed.

Acute mountain sickness is caused by sub-acute hypoxia in healthy individuals going rapidly to altitude. Both tissue hypoxia in vitro and whole-body hypoxia in vivo have been found to promote the release of reactive oxygen species. Nitronyl nitroxide can trap free radicals such as ·NO or ·OH, and may therefore be efficient protective agents.

The purpose of this study was to evaluate percutaneous penetration and arrhythmogenic effects of aconitine after transdermal administration, compared with the oral route. Skin penetration of aconitine was tested by a microdialysis technique in rats and in vivo recovery was determined by retrodialysis. After oral and transdermal administration of aconitine, dialysate was sampled at 20 min intervals until the end of the experiment for the determination of concentration of aconitine in skin.

A simple, rapid, sensitive column-switching HPLC method is described for the analysis of the 10-hydroxycamptothecin (HCPT) in human serum. A pre-column containing restricted access media (RAM) is used for the sample clean-up and trace enrichment and is combined with a C18 column for the final separation. The analytical time is 8 min.

Objective: To explore the influence of recombinant human growth hormones (rhGH) postburn systemic metabolism.

Methods: Twenty-four burn patients were randomly and equally divided into treatment and control groups. Same amount of rhGH (9 U/d) or isotonic saline was injected subcutaneously to respective patients during 3 approximately 17 postburn days (PBDs).

Aim: To investigate regulative effects of thiol reagents, N-acetyl-l-cysteine (NAC) and natrii dimercaptosussinas (NDMS), catalase (CAT), and calcium chelator 2-[(2-bis-[carboxymethyl]-amino-5-methyl-phenoxy)-met]-6-methoxy-8-bis-[carboxy-methyl]-aminoquinoline (Quin 2) on apoptosis and telomerase activity induced by arsenic trioxide (As2O3) in three myelocytic leukemia cell lines.

Methods: Flow cytometry was used to examine apoptosis and a PCR ELISA kit was used to detect telomerase activity.

Results: As2O3 induced about 40 % - 60 % of apoptosis in NB4, K562, and HL-60 cells at the concentration of 0.

A reversed-phase HPLC method is described for determination of 5-fluorouracil in human serum. After being extracted with ethyl acetate 5-fluorouracil was analyzed by reversed-phase HPLC column (Zorbax ODS) and UV-detector (273nm) with tegaful as internal standard. The mobile phase was a mixture of methyl alcohol and water (20:80, V:V) at a flow rate of 1mL/min.

4-[4''-(2'',2'',6'',6''-Tetramethyl-1''-piperidinyloxy)amino]-4'- demethylepipodophyllotoxin (GP-7) 10-40 mg.kg-1 ip daily for 7 d reduced the specific antibody formation of splenocytes, serum agglutinin titer, and hemolysin HC50 in mice immunized with SRBC. GP-7 inhibited the footpad delayed hypersensitivity reaction and decreased the weights of spleen and thymus, but did not affect the phagocytic function of the peritoneal macrophages.
