Background & Aims: Lysozyme and antibacterial peptides have been reported to broad-spectrum antibacterial activity and can further improve wound healing. The aim of this study was to assess the effectiveness of a recombinant fusion protein created by combining lysozyme and an antibacterial peptide in forming new vessels and wound healing in an ischemic hind limb.
Methods: An ischemic hind limb model was established by isolation and ligation of the femoral artery in diabetic mice.

Cerebral autosomal recessive arteriopathy with subcortical infarcts and leukoencephalopathyis a rare form of inherited cerebral small vessel disease associated with mutations in the high-temperature requirement serine peptidase A1 gene. As of now, only about 50 cases have been reported. In 2012, our group reported a family with a novel mutant of the high-temperature requirement serine peptidase A1 gene in China for the first time.

Hypoxia is a well-recognized biological characteristic to therapy resistance and negative prognostic factor in patients with head and neck squamous cell carcinoma (HNSCC). This study aims to investigate the changes of hypoxia measured by F-fluoroerythronitroimidazole (FETNIM) uptake on integrated positron emission tomography and computed tomography (PET/CT) during chemoradiotherapy and its prognostic value of clinical outcome in locoregionally advanced HNSCC.Thirty-two patients with locoregionally advanced HNSCC who received definitive treatment with concurrent chemoradiotherapy underwent FETNIM PET/CT scans before and after 5 weeks of treatment.

The aim of this study is to investigate the effect of miR-148b on cell proliferation and migration of Schwann cells and explore its mechanism. The miR-148b group, miR-con group and the anti-miR-148b group, anti-miR-con group, si-con group, si-CALR group, Ctrl group, CALR group were transfected into Schwann cells by liposome method; the expression of miR-148b was detected by qRT-PCR; the cell viability was detected by MTT assay; the migration of cells was detected by Transwell method; WB assay was used to detect the protein expression of CALR. Firstly, we found that compared with miR-con group and si-con group, the proliferation and migration of miR-148b group and si-CALR group were significantly down-regulated (P < .

BACKGROUND Lysozymes and antibacterial peptides have been confirmed to protect humans against viral and bacterial infection, and accelerate wound healing. The study aimed to evaluate the effect of lysozyme-antimicrobial peptide fusion protein on the diabetic wound size reduction in streptozotocin (STZ)-induced diabetic rats. MATERIAL AND METHODS Diabetic rats were prepared via intraperitoneal injection of STZ, 70 mg/kg.

Pain, especially chronic pain, can lead to cognitive deficits. Mismatch negativity (MMN) is a change-specific component of the auditory event-related brain potential (ERP) that is thought to provide a unique window into sensory memory processes. The present study was designed to determine how chronic and acute pain affects auditory sensory memory.

Background: Tbx2 plays a critical role in determining fates of cardiomyocytes. Little is known about the contribution of TBX2 3' untranslated region (UTR) variants to the risk of congenital heart defect (CHD). Thus, we aimed to determine the association of single-nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) in TBX2 3' UTR with CHD susceptibility.

Tumor Necrosis Factor-α (TNF-α)-inhibited osteogenic differentiation of mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs) contributes to impaired bone formation, which plays a central role in the pathogenesis of postmenopausal osteoporosis. However, the exact mechanisms of TNF-α-inhibited osteoblast differentiation have not been fully elucidated. Multiple P2 purinoceptor subtypes are expressed in several species of osteoblasts and are confirmed to regulate bone metabolism.

Purpose: Signal evaluation is considered to be a tedious process owing to the large number of disproportional signals detected. This study aimed to apply a biclustering algorithm in the spontaneous reporting system of China and to obtain the optimal parameters. The biclustering algorithm is expected to improve the efficiency of signal evaluation by identifying similar signal groups.

Malignant melanoma, a tumor derived from melanocytes, shows severe drug resistance and prompt metastasis, causing a serious threat to human health. Circular RNAs (circRNAs) are widely expressed in mammals and have been indicated to play important roles in tumorigenesis. In the present study, we analyzed the variability of circRNAs in malignant melanoma by microarray and identified six differentially expressed circRNAs.

Nuclear factor κ-light-chain-enhancer of B cells (NF-κB) is one of the most important tumorigenic factors. Although it has been established that NF-κB is overly activated in human glioma cells, the molecular mechanisms that lead to the signal transduction to NF-κB and thereby the induction of resistance to apoptosis remain poorly understood. The present study demonstrated that mRNA and protein levels of E3 ubiquitin-protein ligase 2 (MIB2) were markedly upregulated in glioma cell lines and clinical samples.

Post-MI heart failure is characterized by structural remodeling, in which intramyocardial fibrosis takes a important part. Poly(ADP-ribose) polymerase 1 (PARP-1) is a extensive nuclear enzyme and plays a critical role in various diseases. It was shown that PARP-1 inhibition could alleviate heart failure and dowregulate autophagy, but whether PARP-1 regulates autophagy and thus impacts the activities of CFs remain unknown.
