Extraosseous Ewing sarcomas (EESs) are rare tumours originating from soft tissues. Their clinical picture depends mainly on the primary site of the sarcoma. Patient characteristics and outcomes seem to be different in EES compared to patients with skeletal Ewing sarcoma, with implications for patient care and prognosis.

We report a case of a 42-year-old male patient who was transferred to our emergency department suffering from a gunshot wound in his left lateral thigh. The patient was haemodynamically stable, and the physical examination of the abdomen and thorax was unremarkable. There was no obvious exit point and there were no other injuries.

The injection of drugs into the neck is unusual and thrombosis of the internal jugular vein can be a rare clinical presentation with a high risk for severe complications. We report a case of a 31-year-old male intravenous drug user presenting with fever, shortness of breath and right neck oedema. Laboratory studies revealed elevated inflammation parameters.

Metastatic squamous cell carcinoma (SCC) to the breast is a very rare entity with a few cases reported in the literature, while the hand as an extra-mammary origin site for this type of malignancy has not been reported before. We describe a unique case of a woman with a SCC lesion excised from the right index finger that metastasized to her ipsilateral breast. A 68-year-old female patient presented with a small palpable lesion of the right breast and without any skin ulceration or malformation.

Background: Increased expression of the glutathione S-transferase placental isoform (GST-pi) and of P-glycoprotein (P-gp) in tissues from patients with nonsmall cell lung cancer (NSCLC) has been associated with poor antineoplastic drug sensitivity, response to treatment, and survival. However, the diagnosis of advanced NSCLC often is based on cytology. The objectives of the current study were to examine GST-pi and P-gp expression in cytologic specimens from patients with unresectable NSCLC and to determine the association of that expression with response to chemotherapy and survival.
