Orbital myositis is a rare clinical condition that involves idiopathic inflammation mostly of extraocular muscles. The purpose of this study was to present a diagnostic and treatment plan of orbital myositis. A 60-year-old female presented with decreased visual acuity on her left eye, ocular hypertension, restricted and painful left abduction, diplopia, swollen eyelids, and orbital discomfort.

In recent years, it has been shown that gastrointestinal microflora has a substantial impact on the development of a large number of chronic diseases. Interferon alpha and non-specific markers of inflammation in patients with systemic lupus erythematosus.

Aim To determine the value of IFN (intzerferon)-α in the patients with systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) and to correlate IFN-α with values of non-specific biochemical parameters of inflammation (C-reactive protein, leukocytes values, erythrocyte sedimentation rate, albumins and globulins). Methods Research included 55 patients with SLE diagnosis and a control group consisted of 25 healthy subjects (during period 2019-2020). IFN (Interferon)-α and non-specific biochemical parameters of inflammation were obtained using standard protocols.

Recanalization rate of proximal deep venous thrombosis related to therapeutic modality during six months follow-up.

Aim To investigate infl uence of neutrophil-to-lymphocyte ratio (NLR) and proatherogenic risk factors to improve the accuracy of pneumonia severity index (PSI) in the prediction of community acquired pneumonia (CAP) outcome in healthy individuals. Methods A retrospective observational cross-sectional study conducted at the Clinic for Pulmonary Diseases and Tuberculosis "Podhrastovi", University Clinical Centre Sarajevo, included 83 patients with the diagnosis of CAP during the period March 2019-March 2021. Once diagnosed with CAP, PSI score was calculated and according to its value the need for hospital treatment was identifi ed.

Association between maternal thyroid function and risk of gestational hypertension and preeclampsia.

In all patients fulfilling inclusion criteria TSH, FT3, and FT4 using electrochemiluminescence immunoassay (ECLIA, Roche Diagnostics, Basel, Switzerland) were checked.

Short-term and long-term results after intravitreal bevacizumab therapy for macular oedema in branch retinal vein occlusion.

The aim of this study was to determine the possible correlation between the short- and long-term effects of intravitreal bevacizumab on macular oedema after branch retinal vein occlusion (BRVO). This prospective clinical study included fifteen eyes of patients with macular oedema after BRVO. Corrected distance visual acuity (CDVA), recorded in LogMAR units, central foveal thickness (CFT) and maximum foveal thickness (MFT) were evaluated at one month after first application and at least every 2 months for one year.

Challenging case of treating fungal keratitis.

Treating fungal keratitis is always a challenge due to limited antifungal medication, their poor penetration, and often, the delay in diagnosis. The purpose of this study is to present new routes of medication delivery, such as intrastromal application for advanced cases not responding to topical therapy. Challenges of Surgical Treatment of Atypical Giant Choledochal Cyst with the Absence of Gallbladder in Adult Patient.

Choledochal cysts (CCs) are rare congenital anomalies in the form of cystic dilatation of any part of the biliary tree, and they rarely reach the size over 10 cm. We present a case of a 51-year-old female with a one-year history of abdominal pain and palpable mass in the epigastrium and right upper abdomen. Diagnosis of giant CC was made using magnetic resonance cholangiopancreatography.

Percutaneous biliary drainage for obstructive jaundice in patients with inoperable, malignant biliary obstruction.

Aim Of The Study: Most of the malignancies leading to obstructive jaundice are diagnosed too late when they are already advanced and inoperable, with palliation being the only treatment option left. Due to progressing hyperbilirubinaemia with its consequent adverse effects, biliary drainage must be established even in advanced malignancies. This study aims to investigate and analyse factors that affect clinical outcomes of percutaneous trans-hepatic biliary drainage (PTBD) in patients with obstructive jaundice due to advanced inoperable malignancy, and identify potential predictors of patient survival.

Delayed Management of an Orbital Floor Blow-out Fracture.

A bony fracture in the orbital floor, the most common site, can lead to tissue herniation, enophthalmos, hypoglobus, or strabismic diplopia. Several surgical approaches for repair have been described in the literature. This report is a description of an illustrative case and a brief summary of the literature related to the transconjunctival approach to orbital floor fracture repair as performed by ophthalmologists.

Maculopathy, Fundus Changes and Anterior Lenticonus in Alport Syndrome.

Alport syndrome is a rare basement membrane disorder that may include ocular manifestations: dot-and-fleck retinopathy, anterior lenticonus, posterior polymorphous corneal dystrophy, or temporal macular thinning. It is primarily an X-linked inheritance condition (85%).
