Introduction: Noise represent an unwanted sound that endangers human health in multiple manners and in work setting causes reduction of productivity on one side, and increased waste on the other. Noise pollution occurs when the ear is exposed to the volume of sound that is disturbing, stressful or directly damaging hearing, but also acting on the organism as a whole.
Aim: The aim of the article is to examine the vulnerability of workers working on the "press" machine, and to carry out an analysis and examine the press operator workplace, then perform the noise spread measurement in the press operator work area and compare the current measurements with the permissible levels and analyze the time period of worker exposure, as well as presentation of the effects of noise on productivity and workers health.

Aim To determine risk factors for deep vein thrombosis (DVT) in hospitalized patients in a 10-year follow-up. Methods In this observational study data were collected from the disease history of patients admitted to the Department of Angiology of the Clinical Centre University of Sarajevo in the period of 10 years (2008-2017). Of 6246 hospitalized patients, 1154 were with established diagnosis of DVT and included in the study as a basic inclusion criterion.

Introduction: The most appropriate choice of pharmacological treatment of heart rhythm disorders occurring in patients with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) and cardiovascular comorbidity is often a topic of debate between pulmonologists and cardiologists in clinical practice, although numerous studies and clinical trials have demonstrated evidence to support the use of selective beta-blockers (BBs) in these patients.
Aim: To examine the difference in the number of exacerbations in patients treated with a combination of verapamil and digoxin or BB alone in patients with different COPD stages.
Patients And Methods: The study included 68 patients (n = 68) diagnosed with COPD who were followed-up during a 12-month period, and the number of exacerbations were analyzed.

Aim To identify short-term effects of extracorporeal shock wave lithotripsy (ESWL) on renal function in children and adolescents with single kidney stones. Methods In a 4-year period 30 children (15 boys and 15 girls) from 10 to 18 years of age were treated for unilateral renal stones with ESWL. Inclusion criteria were: up to 18 years of age, kidney stone (from 4 to 20 mm in diameter) visible on X-ray, first ESWL treatment, unilateral lithotripsy treatment without previous kidney surgery, patients without infravesical obstruction, patients without proven urinary infection, repeated use of one (the same) analgesic, patients without anticoagulant and antihypertensive therapy, patients without use of nephrotoxic drugs prior to and during the treatment, normal blood pressure, non-pregnancy patients with normal renal function.

Introduction: Cancelling elective procedures on the day of surgery presents a constant problem in all higher-level medical facilities, and the research of causes, consequences and possible solutions is the duty of every facility in order to enhance the quality of healthcare services.
Aim: The aim of the research was to determine the percentage and reasons for cancelling elective procedures and provide adequate measure to reduce this number in the future and to identify ways to improve the patients' satisfaction level.
Material And Methods: This prospective study included all patients that were scheduled for surgery from March 2016 to November 2018 in the operating rooms at our Department of Surgery, including both performed and cancelled cases.

Introduction: Renal vasculature is extremely sensitive to vasoconstrictor effects of endothelin (ET), while nitric oxide (NO) has special role in several pathological renal conditions.
Aim: The aim of this study to examine the presence, character, and degree of changes in NO and ET levels in the serum of extracorporeal shock wave lithotripsy (ESWL)-treated patients with nephrolithiasis.
Patients And Methods: This study included a total of 60 patients that were divided in two groups: Group I ( = 24), in which a total of 2000SWs were administered; 0-2 units; (0.

Introduction: The increase in the percentage of the Cesarean sections has got an important place in determination of modern obstetrics. The evaluation of that needs actual, modern opinion for obstetrics and transformation actual obstetric science than investigating the best situation for the mother and child in the actual moment. All medical, organizational, economic and ethical capacities with support of modern diagnostic and therapeutic procedures present a reason for the access in modern obstetrics.

Introduction: In patients with acute myocardial infarction (AMI) early risk assessment of development of complications is of great importance. It is proven that aldosterone level has a major role in progression of cardiovascular pathology.
Aim: Determination of influence of aldosterone plasma level in the progression of heart disease in patients without signs of heart failure after AMI.

Background: The aim of this post hoc analysis of a large cohort study was to evaluate the association between night-time surgery and the occurrence of intraoperative adverse events (AEs) and postoperative pulmonary complications (PPCs).
Methods: LAS VEGAS (Local Assessment of Ventilatory Management During General Anesthesia for Surgery) was a prospective international 1-week study that enrolled adult patients undergoing surgical procedures with general anaesthesia and mechanical ventilation in 146 hospitals across 29 countries. Surgeries were defined as occurring during 'daytime' when induction of anaesthesia was between 8:00 AM and 7:59 PM, and as 'night-time' when induction was between 8:00 PM and 7:59 AM.

Alzheimer's disease represents the most common age-related neurodegenerative disorder and a leading cause of progressive cognitive impairment. Predicting cognitive decline is challenging but would be invaluable in an increasingly aging population which also experiences a rising cardiovascular risk. In order to examine whether plasma measurements of one of the established biomarkers of heart failure, brain natriuretic peptide (BNP), reflect a decline in cognitive function, associated with Alzheimer's disease neurodegeneration, BNP levels were analysed, by using a novel assay called a SOMAscan, in 1.

Aim To investigate a correlation between resistive index (RI) level changes following extracorporeal shock wave lithotripsy (ESWL) in treated and non-treated kidneys depending on the ESWL treatment intensity. The study was conducted on 60 subjects, which were divided in two groups according to age and treatment protocol. Results In the group of patients younger than 55 years of age there was a significant increase in mean RI values, on the first (p=0.

The aim of this study was to present a patient (acute allograft dysfunction after a kidney transplantation) with previously detected minimum plaque on both iliac arteries by scintigram and afterward a pathological Color Doppler Ultrasound (CDU) record and to point on possibility of avoiding toxic computed tomography (CT) angiography in certain renal graft recipients. Ultrasound (US) findings showed normal graft size, whereas Doppler signals detected parvus-tardus waveforms pointing to arterial stenosis. Isotope perfusion scintigraphy registered a slow flow on both iliac arteries and normal graft perfusion.

Background: Laparoscopic surgery causes less pain than traditional surgery; however, to relieve postoperative pain, surgeons frequently apply local anesthetic preemptively. The aim of this study was to assess the effect of different local anesthetics on pain intensity in patients who had undergone a laparoscopic appendectomy (LA), who received the anesthetic preemptively at incision sites and postemptively, intraperitoneally and trocar sites.
Patients And Methods: A total of 120 LA patients (men and women) were randomly assigned to 1 of the 4 groups (N = 30/group): Group 1: no peritoneal or local administration of local anesthetics during LA; Group 2: 5 mL of 1% lidocaine was applied at incision sites and 10 mL 1% lidocaine was injected under direct vision in the right iliac fossa area and around the stump of the appendix and trocar sites at the end of the procedure; Group 3: 5 mL of 0.
