Limited data is available on the health-related quality of life (HRQoL) and symptoms of patients with chronic myeloid leukemia (CML) who are in treatment-free remission (TFR). We herein report HRQoL results from the EURO-SKI trial. Patients who had been on tyrosine kinase inhibitors (TKIs) therapy for at least 3 years and achieved MR4 for at least 1 year were enrolled from 11 European countries, and the EORTC QLQ-C30 and the FACIT-Fatigue questionnaires were used to assess HRQoL and fatigue respectively.

Background: The wide range of R0 resection rates (R0RR) and incomplete resection rates (IRR) observed with conventional cold snare polypectomy (CCSP) emphasizes the necessity for technique enhancement. The COLDWATER study aimed to compare underwater cold snare polypectomy (UCSP) to CCSP for 5-10-mm colorectal polyps, focusing on comprehensive histopathological evaluation, efficacy, and safety.
Methods: This was a randomized, single-blind, controlled trial comparing UCSP to CCSP for non-pedunculated colorectal polyps of size 5-10 mm.

The AIDA randomized clinical trial found no significant difference in clinical failure or survival between colistin monotherapy and colistin-meropenem combination therapy in carbapenem-resistant Gram-negative infections. The aim of this reverse translational study was to integrate all individual preclinical and clinical pharmacokinetic-pharmacodynamic (PKPD) data from the AIDA trial in a pharmacometric framework to explore whether individualized predictions of bacterial burden were associated with the trial outcomes. The compiled dataset included for each of the 207 patients was (i) information on the infecting Acinetobacter baumannii isolate (minimum inhibitory concentration, checkerboard assay data, and fitness in a murine model), (ii) colistin plasma concentrations and colistin and meropenem dosing history, and (iii) disease scores and demographics.

Osteoanabolic agents are used as a first line treatment in patients at high fracture risk. The PTH receptor 1 (PTH1R) agonists teriparatide (TPTD) and abaloparatide (ABL) increase bone formation, bone mineral density (BMD), and bone strength by activating PTH receptors on osteoblasts. Romosozumab (ROMO), a humanized monoclonal antibody against sclerostin, dramatically but transiently stimulates bone formation and persistently reduces bone resorption.

Background And Aim: Hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) diagnosis mainly relies on its pathognomonic radiological profile, obviating the need for biopsy. The project of incorporating artificial intelligence (AI) techniques in HCC aims to improve the performance of image recognition. Herein, we thoroughly analyze and evaluate proposed AI models in the field of HCC diagnosis.

Background: The COVID-19 pandemic has disrupted global daily life, including the world of elite athletes. This paper examines the multifaceted impact the COVID-19 pandemic had on elite swimmers and water polo athletes, specifically their mental health, their concerns over the virus, their intentions of getting vaccinated, and sleep disturbances that they may have faced.
Methods: We conducted a cross-sectional study on elite swimmers and water polo players, using an anonymous questionnaire.

Introduction: The role of stereotactic body radiation therapy (SBRT) as a locally effective therapeutic approach for liver oligometastases from tumors of various origin is well established. We investigated the role of robotic SBRT (rSBRT) treatment on oligometastatic patients with liver lesions.
Material And Methods: This review was conducted according to the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses statement.

Pulmonary hypertension (PH) is a progressive and potentially fatal complication of sickle cell disease (SCD), affecting 6-10% of adult SCD patients. Various mechanisms and theories have been evaluated to explain the pathophysiology of this disease. However, questions remain, particularly regarding the clinical heterogeneity of the disease in terms of symptoms, complications, and survival.

Background/aim: Immediate and delayed breast reconstruction remains a controversial topic. Apart from the clinical outcomes that have to be considered, there is a discrepancy of opinions regarding the potential differences in quality of life. It is essential to clarify this issue, in order to contribute to the reconstruction of the decision-making process.

Connexins, a family of tetraspan membrane proteins forming intercellular channels localized in gap junctions, play a pivotal role at the different stages of tumor progression presenting both pro- and anti-tumorigenic effects. Considering the potential role of connexins as tumor suppressors through multiple channel-independent mechanisms, their loss of expression may be associated with tumorigenic activity, while it is hypothesized that connexins favor the clonal expansion of tumor cells and promote cell migration, invasion, and proliferation, affecting metastasis and chemoresistance in some cases. Hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC), characterized by unfavorable prognosis and limited responsiveness to current therapeutic strategies, has been linked to gap junction proteins as tumorigenic factors with prognostic value.

Defining predictive biomarkers for targeted therapies and optimizing anti-tumor immune response is a main challenge in ongoing investigations. Progastrin has been studied as a potential biomarker for detecting and diagnosing various malignancies, and its secretion has been associated with cell proliferation in the gastrointestinal tract that may promote tumorigenesis. Progastrin is a precursor molecule of gastrin, synthesized as pre-progastrin, converted to progastrin after cleavage, and transformed into amidated gastrin via biosynthetic intermediates.

The present review demonstrates the major tumor suppressor genes, including TP53, CDKN2A and SMAD4, associated with pancreatic cancer. Each gene's role, prevalence and impact on tumor development and progression are analyzed, focusing on the intricate molecular landscape of pancreatic cancer. In addition, this review underscores the prognostic significance of specific mutations, such as loss of TP53, and explores some potential targeted therapies tailored to these molecular signatures.

This case study reports a rare case of a non-functioning metastatic pancreatic neuroendocrine tumor (pNET) transforming into a functioning pNET. A 59-year-old male, previously treated with distal pancreatectomy, splenectomy, lymph node dissection, liver metastasectomy, and pharmacotherapy, presented with weakness, hypoglycemia, and daily episodes of watery diarrhea. A functioning neuroendocrine liver metastasis expressing insulin and gastrin was identified.
