Article Synopsis
  • The quality of water in aquaculture ponds significantly affects the smell and sensory properties of fish, particularly rainbow trout from three fish farms in Türkiye.
  • Water samples were collected across four seasons and analyzed for volatile components using HS-SPME/GC-MS, revealing seven groups of volatiles, with aldehydes being the most prevalent.
  • Compounds such as (E)-2-Heptenal and nonanal are linked to off-odors, which increase in winter due to cooler water temperatures, suggesting that fish producers need to regularly monitor water quality to maintain fish quality.

Article Synopsis
  • The study investigates the associated production of Higgs and W bosons, focusing on how the relative signs of the Higgs couplings to W and Z bosons impact the process.
  • Two specific searches were conducted using large amounts of collision data from the LHC to analyze different coupling scenarios: one for opposite-sign couplings and another for same-sign (standard model-like) couplings.
  • The results significantly exclude the opposite-sign coupling hypothesis and set a strict upper limit on the production rate of this process compared to standard model predictions.

  • Cardiovascular disease (CVD) significantly affects people living with HIV (PLWH), with this study finding a diagnosed CVD prevalence of 10.8% among 1425 participants aged 40-75.
  • The assessment utilized five different risk evaluation tools, revealing that 42.8% of participants had a high 10-year risk of CVD, while 71.7% were classified as high- to very high-risk using the SCORE2 tool.
  • The findings stress the need for better cardiovascular health monitoring and highlighted that current utilization of lipid-lowering therapy is inadequate, despite a large number of PLWH being eligible for such treatment per recent guidelines.

Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology, Medical University of Lublin, Lublin, 20-093, Poland; Institute of Nuclear Physics, PAS, 31342, Krakow, Poland. Electronic address:

This study employed Fourier transform infrared (FTIR) spectroscopy to determine the chemical composition of brain tissues and the changes induced by irisin at doses of 50 mg and 100 mg. Brain tissues were collected from control rats and those administered with irisin, and key vibrational peaks were analyzed. In the 50 mg irisin group, all described vibrations decreased compared to control tissues, while the 100 mg group showed a decrease only in lipid vibrations.

Article Synopsis
  • - The study compared the effectiveness of two newer methods for locating non-palpable breast lesions—Magnetic Seed (Magseed) and Radiofrequency Identification (RFID)—against traditional wire-guided techniques.
  • - Using turkey breasts and raisins as simulation models, both techniques achieved a 100% success rate in lesion localization, but Magseed had shorter operation times while RFID had shorter incisions.
  • - Overall, neither method showed a significant advantage over the other in terms of effectiveness or surgical outcomes, suggesting both can be used safely for lesion localization.

Objectives: There is still no clear relationship between the presence of Graves' disease (GD) and the development of papillary thyroid carcinoma. The aim of this study was to compare the clinicopathologic features of patients diagnosed with papillary thyroid carcinoma (PTC) with thyroid nodules and GD and patients with PTC with thyroid nodules but without autoimmune thyroid disease.

Methods: The study was designed in a retrospective manner and included a cohort of 239 patients with PTC who underwent total thyroidectomy.
