The Relationship Between Health Literacy and Diabetes Self-Efficacy and Foot Self-Care in Type II Diabetics.

This study was conducted to determine the effect of health literacy on diabetes self-efficacy and foot self-care in type II diabetics. This descriptive correlational study was conducted with 187 people. The research was conducted between 01 June 2021 and 31 December 2021 in a province located in the southeastern region of Turkey.

Investigation of MHR-nephropathy relationship and the effect of SGLT2is on MHR in patients with type 2 diabetes.

Objective: The aim of this study was to evaluate the relationship between monocyte/high-density lipoprotein (HDL) ratio (MHR), an inflammatory marker, and diabetic nephropathy (DN), a microvascular complication of diabetes in diabetic patients and to investigate the effect of sodium-glucose co-transporter 2 inhibitors (SGLT2i) on MHR.

Material And Methods: The study included 119 diabetic patients. Hemogram, glucose, HbA1c, urea, creatinine, albumin, HDL cholesterol, LDL cholesterol, triglycerides, total cholesterol, MHR, NLR (neutrophil-lymphocyte ratio), and CRP parameters were evaluated in blood parameters taken after 8-10 h of fasting before and 6 months after SGLT2 inhibitor use, and albumin, creatinine, and albumin/creatinine parameters were evaluated in urine samples.

Assessment of vision-related quality of life and depression in patients with age-related macular degeneration.

Purpose: To evaluate the effect of age-related macular degeneration (AMD) on vision-related quality of life (VRQOL) and depression levels.

Methods: This cross-sectional study included 143 patients who are being followed up with a diagnosis of AMD. The Turkish versions of the National Eye Institute Visual Functioning Questionnaire-25 (NEI VFQ-25) and Geriatric Depression Scale-15 (GDS-15) were directed to the patients.

Materials And Methods: Forty-eight Wistar-albino rats weighing 350-400 g were randomly divided into groups, 6 in each group, as the study group was given Sildenafil Citrate and the control group given saline, respectively.

Machine learning models for early prediction of mortality risk in patients with burns: A single center experience.

Mortality rate is considered as the most important outcome measure for assessing the severity of burn injury. A scale or model that accurately predicts burn mortality can be useful to determine the clinical course of burn injuries, discuss treatment options and rehabilitation with patients and their families, and evaluate novel, innovative interventions for the injuries. This study aimed to use machine learning models to predict the mortality risk of patients with burns after their first admission to the center and to compare the performances of these models.

Effects of Thymoquinone on Urotensin-II and TGF-β1 Levels in Model of Osteonecrosis in Rats.

To induce ON, 15-week-old animals were subcutaneously injected with MPA at a dose of 15 mg/kg twice weekly for 2 weeks.

Metastatic castration-resistant prostate cancer (mCRPC) remains a challenging condition to treat despite recent advancements. This retrospective study aimed to assess the activity and tolerability of Lutetium-177 (Lu-177) PSMA-617 radioligand therapy (RLT) in mCRPC patients across multiple cancer centers in Turkey. The study included 165 patients who received at least one cycle of Lu-177 PSMA-617 RLT, with the majority having bone metastases and undergone prior treatments.

Introduction: Ischemia-modified albumin (IMA) level increases in inflammatory conditions. We aimed to investigate the association between IMA levels and the severity of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) infection in adult patients.

Methodology: We grouped adult patients with COVID-19 infection: Group A - mild symptoms, but normal computed tomography (CT), Group B - mild/moderate illness, and Group C - severe or critical illness.

Granulomatous Mediastinitis: A Rare Cause of Pulmonary Hypertension.

A rare case of a patient with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease who developed secondary anthracofibrosis to biomass exposure, fibrosing mediastinitis due to anthracotic enlarged lymph nodes in the mediastinum, and pulmonary hypertension because of compres- sion of the lymph nodes on the pulmonary arteries is presented. This is a case report of a 71-year-old female patient who has been followed up with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease for 10 years, has no history of smoking, and has been exposed to biomass for many years. The patient, who had been hospitalized in various centers for the last 3 years due to progressive shortness of breath and dry cough, applied to us with dry cough and dyspnea complaints.

Objective: As diabetic patients live longer and there are more effective treatments available, the incidence of diabetes and its complications is increasing. The effects of oxidative stress and antioxidant processes on diabetes behavior, especially diabetic foot, are really direct. The goal of this research is to investigate the effects of oxidative stress and antioxidant mechanism on the outcome of amputation by examining the levels of 8-hydroxy-2'-deoxyguanosine (8-OHdG) and thiol/disulfide in the blood of patients diagnosed with diabetic foot.

Evaluation of whole blood thiamine pyrophosphate concentrations in critically ill patients receiving chronic diuretic therapy prior to admission to Turkish intensive care units: A pragmatic, multicenter, prospective study.

Background/objectives: Thiamine plays a pivotal role in energy metabolism. Low handgrip strength is associated with diabetic foot disease in geriatric patients with type 2 diabetes.

Background: This study aims to reveal the prevalence of low handgrip strength in older patients with type 2 diabetes who have diabetic foot disease and to assess the association of handgrip strength with diabetic foot disease in older patients with type 2 diabetes.

Methods: Eighty-nine geriatric patients with diabetic foot ulcers and 69 patients without diabetic foot ulcers who presented to the endocrinology outpatient clinic between August 2020 and November 2021 were included in the study. The exclusion criteria were the usage of steroids, stroke-induced quadriplegia, myopathy, disability, hemodialysis treatment, type 1 diabetes, patients under 65 years of age, and history of malignancy.

Fluoroscopy guided without contrast injection for ganglion impar blockade in traumatic coccydynia: Description a modified approach and 1-year results.

Background: This study presents a new fluoroscopy-controlled approach in patients with chronic traumatic coccydynia by applying ganglion impar block using the needle-inside-needle technique from the intercoccygeal region without the administration of contrast material. With this approach, the cost and possible side effects of using contrast material can be prevented. In addition, we examined the long-term effect of this method.

Transient ischemic liver injury and respiratory failure in a COVID-19-positive patient after multiple bee stings.

We present a patient with multiple bee stings who developed lung and liver injuries and subsequently tested positive for coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19). A 65-year-old male patient presented to the emergency department after being stung by more than 100 honeybees. His physical examination revealed pustular lesions distributed across his chest, arms, back, legs, and head, marking the sting zones.

Knowledge, attitudes and behaviors of family physicians about childhood vaccinations that are not in the routine vaccination schedule: a cross-sectional study.

Aim: In our country, there are childhood vaccinations that are not included in the routine vaccination schedule and that families have to buy and have for a fee. In addition to income level, family physicians' recommendations also play a major role in getting these vaccines.Our study was planned to determine the level of knowledge, attitudes and behaviors of family physicians about rotavirus, HPV and meningococcal vaccines, which are not included in the routine vaccination scheme of the Ministry of Health.
