Background: Dystonia is a common neurological hyperkinetic movement disorder that can be caused by mutations in anoctamin 3 (ANO3, TMEM16C), a phospholipid scramblase and ion channel. We previously reported patients that were heterozygous for the ANO3 variants S651N, V561L, A599D and S651N, which cause dystonia by unknown mechanisms.
Methods: We applied electrophysiology, Ca measurements and cell biological methods to analyze the molecular mechanisms that lead to aberrant intracellular Ca signals and defective activation of K channels in patients heterozygous for the ANO3 variants.

Ischemia-reperfusion (I/R) injury is a process in which impaired perfusion is restored by restoring blood flow and tissue recirculation. Nanomedicine uses cutting-edge technologies that emerge from interdisciplinary influences. In the literature, there are very few in vivo and in vitro studies on how cerium oxide (CeO) affects systemic anti-inflammatory response and inflammation.

: This study aimed to examine the effects of manual therapy (MT) and home exercise (HE) treatments on pain, sleep quality, stress level, and quality of life in patients with bruxism. : The study included 30 bruxism patients ages 18-25 years who were randomly divided into the manual therapy group (MTG) and home exercise group (HEG). Before treatment (T1), all patients were asked to fill out the Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index (PSQI), Perceived Stress Scale (PSS), Fonseca Anamnestic Index (FAI), and Quality of Life Scale/Short Form-36 (SF-36), and additionally, the number of trigger points (NTP) and pain levels were determined.

Background/aim: The hyperglycemic environment in diabetes disrupts normal wound-healing processes, leading to chronic wounds. This study investigated whether the combination of the phenolic compounds ellagic acid and carnosic acid shows synergistic effects on diabetic wound healing and oxidative parameters in diabetic rats.
Materials And Methods: Diabetic rats were divided into control, untreated, Carbopol 974P treated, topical treatment, and oral gavage treatment groups.

Nickel oxide nanoparticles are engineered particles that are now widely used in medicine, agriculture, and industry applications. This study aimed to investigate subchronic testicular toxicity induced by nickel oxide (NiO) and nickel oxide nanoparticles (NiONPs) in rats by comparing oral, intraperitoneal (IP), and intravenous (IV) routes of administration. Forty-two male Wistar rats were used for the study, and seven groups were formed: control group, NiO oral (150 mg/kg), NiO IP (20 mg/kg), NiO IV (1 mg/kg), NiONP oral (150 mg/kg), NiONP IP (20 mg/kg), and NiONP IV (1 mg/kg).

Lidocaine (LID), frequently used in dermal applications, is a nonpolar local anesthetic agent that is practically insoluble in water. The main aim of this study is to develop the nanosuspension formulation of LID using the design of experiments (DoE). The improved solubility and dissolution rate provided by nanosizing are expected to result in enhanced dermal bioavailability.

Background And Aim: Many scoring systems are used to evaluate malnutrition, but there is no consensus on which scoring system would be more appropriate. We aimed to investigate the effect of malnutrition in patients with non-valvular atrial fibrillation (NVAF) and to compare three scoring systems.
Methods And Results: A total of 2592 patients with non-valvular AF from 35 different centers in Turkey were included in this prospective study.

Endogenous and exogenous factors play a role in endothelial dysfunction. Inflammation, leukocyte adhesion-aggregation, abnormal vascular proliferation, atherosclerosis, and hypertension are among the endogenous factors. Another factor that affects endothelial dysfunction is exogenous factors such as drug treatments, smoking, alcohol, and nutrition.

Introduction: Hepatitis B reactivation and administration of prophylactic antiviral treatment are considered in patients with autoimmune inflammatory rheumatic diseases (AIIRD) undergoing immunosuppressive/immunomodulatory treatment. Data are more robust for rheumatoid arthritis patients receiving bDMARDs but are limited for other AIIRD and drug categories.
Methods: Adult patients with AIIRD (inflammatory arthritis [IA] or connective tissue diseases [CTD]) and documented chronic or resolved HBV infection (defined as serum HBsAg positivity or anti-HBcAb positivity in the case of HBsAg non-detection respectively), followed-up in six rheumatology centers in Greece and Italy, were included.

Background: For patients undergoing arthroscopic rotator cuff repair surgery (RCR), it is crucial to prevent falls to minimize the risk of re-tearing the repaired muscles. Shoulder immobilization during the postoperative period may lead to a decline in postural balance. This prospective cohort study aimed to investigate the postural balance of patients in the early postoperative period following arthroscopic RCR.

Objective: Patients with mild autonomous cortisol secretion (MACS) are at increased risk of cardiometabolic outcomes, such as hyperglycemia, metabolic syndrome, and cardiovascular diseases. Nonalcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) is also associated with increased cardiometabolic risk. We aimed to investigate the prevalence and predictors of NAFLD in metabolically healthy subjects with MACS.
