Aquilaria malaccensis Lam., an Agarwood-producing tree native to Southeast Asia, secretes oleoresin, a resin with diverse applications, in response to injuries. To explore the role of endosphere microbial communities during Agarwood development, we utilized a metagenomics approach across three stages: non-symptomatic (NC), symptomatic early (IN), and symptomatic mature (IN1).

The MYC proto-oncogene encodes a basic helix-loop-helix leucine zipper (HLH-LZ) transcription factor, acting as a master regulator of genes involved in cellular proliferation, differentiation, and immune surveillance. Dysregulation of MYC is implicated in over 70% of human cancers, driving oncogenic processes through altered gene expression and disrupted cellular functions. Non-synonymous single nucleotide polymorphisms (nsSNPs) within coding regions can significantly impact protein structure and function, leading to abnormal cellular behaviours.

Cocrystallization of trans-aconitic acid (TACA) and isonicotinamide (INA) using liquid assisted mechanochemical grinding results in a unique supramolecular hydrogen-bonded organic framework (HOF) system encapsulating various organic solvents (liquid guest) with the formation of channel inclusion compounds. Dimension and shape of the framework is dependent on the solvent used during liquid assisted grinding (LAG). Although crystal structure of the cocrystal (TACA) ⋅ (INA) ⋅ (HO)@(INA) has been determined by Single Crystal X-ray diffraction (SCXRD), crystal structures of 3 cocrystal HOFs were determined by microcrystal electron diffraction (MicroED) and synchrotron X-ray diffraction due to lack of suitable single crystal.

This study investigates MB aggregation in propanol, ethanol, butanol, and methanol using UV-Visible, steady-state, and time-resolved fluorescence spectroscopy at room temperature. This work reveals the presence of monomers, dimers, and higher aggregates across various concentrations, affecting both the absorption spectra and fluorescence intensity. Characteristic peaks for monomeric, dimeric, and higher aggregates of MB are identified, with shifts in emission peak intensity and lifetime as a function of concentration, solvent polarity, and viscosity.

Background: Liver in the body plays vital role including digestion, detoxification, metabolism and even production of hormones. Hepatocellular carcinoma is recognized as one of leading cause of death worldwide. Infection with hepatitis B and C virus, nonalcoholic fatty liver disease and excessive consumption of alcohol are among the most common risk factors associated with the development of hepatocellular carcinoma.

Leachate-contaminated water (LCS) poses significant health risks due to its heavy metal content and altered physicochemical properties. This study examined the physicochemical parameters and heavy metal levels in LCS and assessed its reproductive toxicity, genotoxicity, and cytotoxic effects in exposed mice. Groups of mice (n = 5) were orally administered 100 μL of 30 % and 70 % LCS (v/v) twice daily for 35 days.

Nonalcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD), a fast-emerging global burden, is an umbrella term for several liver manifestations that result in excessive accumulation of fat in the liver. NAFLD leads to gut microbiome dysbiosis, loss in gut epithelia, increased gut permeability, etc. The limited availability of registered drugs for NAFLD highlights the urgent need to focus on understanding its pathogenesis and discovering new treatments, including the potential exploration of herbal therapies for managing the condition.

Aging is an inevitable biological process, and emerging research has highlighted the potential of dietary and pharmacological interventions to decelerate the trajectory of age-related diseases and prolong the health span. This study evaluates the protective effects of Musa balbisiana seed on healthy aging using D-galactose-induced accelerated aging rats. The results suggested that the bioactive ethyl acetate fraction of Musa balbisiana seed extract (BF) exhibited protective effects against aging-induced oxidative stress by reducing oxidative DNA damage, advanced glycation end-product formation, and malondialdehyde levels while restoring antioxidant and glyoxalase enzyme activities.

Here, we report the in situ generation of Bi nanoparticles (BiNPs) into a nanoporous matrix by impregnation of bismuth chloride and subsequent reduction with sodium borohydride. The nanoporous matrix was created by acid activation of natural montmorillonite clay under controlled conditions with the aim that it may serve as a host for BiNPs. The characterization of stabilized BiNPs was done by using Fourier-transform infrared (FTIR), powder X-ray diffraction (PXRD), X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS), thermogravimetric analysis (TGA), transmission electron microscopy (TEM), and field emission scanning electron microscopy-energy dispersive X-ray (FESEM-EDX) techniques.

Contamination of ground water with pollutants released from various anthropogenic activities is a major concern due to its adverse effects on the environment and human health. Rapid and efficient detection of such pollutants is the first step toward remediation of the problem. Herein we report a two-point fluorescence turn OFF-ON detection method for Hg ions using nitrogen doped carbon dots (NCDs).

Addressing global environmental challenges and meeting the escalating energy demands stand as two pivotal issues in the current landscape. Lignocellulosic biomass emerges as a promising renewable bio-energy source capable of fulfilling the world's energy requirements on a large scale. One of the most important steps in lowering reliance on fossil fuel and lessening environmental effect is turning lignocellulosic biomass into biofuel.

In many regions of the world, significant data collection, analysis, and availability on comorbidity and fatality incidents caused by COVID-19 during the lockdown period (2020-2022) is rare. This is especially true for hospitals and COVID treatment facilities in India. This lack of understanding impedes the development of appropriate treatment options, potentially resulting in inferior planning, patient recovery results, and a load on healthcare resources.

Muga is a semi-domesticated multi-voltine silkworm cultivated in different seasons of the year. Crops are reared in specific months and are traditionally named Jarua (spring), Chotua, Bohogua, Jethua, Aherua, Saonia, Bhodia, Ahinia, Katia (autumn) and Aghonia. Seasonal variation forces silkworm larvae to face harsh environmental conditions manifested by generation of oxidative stress and occurrence of microbial diseases.

Hierarchically structured micro-mesoporous ZSM-5/MCM-41 composite materials incorporating copper ions were synthesized using pre-synthesized ZSM-5 and cetyltrimethylammonium bromide (CTAB) as a template for forming the MCM-41 structure. The composites were characterized through powder X-ray diffraction, N adsorption-desorption, diffuse reflectance spectroscopy (UV-vis DRS), Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy, thermogravimetric analysis, scanning electron microscopy, and energy dispersive X-ray spectroscopy. X-ray diffraction confirmed well-ordered ZSM-5 and MCM-41 structures, and UV-vis DRS showed successful copper ion incorporation.

Herein, we report an effective multi-component synthesis that starts with readily available starting materials and accesses poly-substituted pyridine derivatives by using L-proline as a benign catalyst. This process uses cyclic amines, aldehydes, and malononitrile in a condensation reaction to produce a variety of pyridine derivatives under mild conditions. Furthermore, depending on the catalysts used, the selective synthesis of an amide and/or an aldehyde functionality is achieved through α-C(sp)-H oxygenation of the tertiary amine moiety in the resultant pyridine derivatives.
