Lichen Planus Pigmentosus: A Clinicopathological Study From Northeast India.

Introduction:  Lichen planus pigmentosus (LPP) is an uncommon variant of lichen planus, characterized by the insidious onset of dark brown to gray pigmented macules, mainly in sun-exposed areas and flexural folds. It is mainly reported in Indian, Latino, American, and Middle Eastern patients. This paper aims to document the clinicopathological characteristics of LPP.

Background: Intestinal parasitic infections (IPIs) and malnutrition in under-five children contribute substantially to developing countries' childhood morbidity and mortality. This study assessed the prevalence and profile of IPI in under-five children and compared them with nutritional status and other socioeconomic factors.

Methods: Anthropometric indices were used for checking the nutritional status of under-five children.

Maternal and perinatal Health Research collaboration, India (MaatHRI) is a research platform that aims to improve evidence-based pregnancy care and outcomes for mothers and babies in India, a country with the second highest burden of maternal and perinatal deaths. The objective of this paper is to describe the methods used to establish and standardise the platform and the results of the process. MaatHRI is a hospital-based collaborative research platform.

Small Vessel Vasculitis, an Uncommon Presentation of Systemic Lupus Erythematosus.

We report a nineteen year old female with gangrene of toes as the only clinical feature of systemic lupus erythematosus. She was treated successfully with pulse cyclophosphamide and steroid.

Vancomycin-resistant enterococci: Troublemaker of the 21st century.

The emergence of multidrug-resistant and vancomycin-resistant enterococci during the last decade has made it difficult to treat nosocomial infections. Although various enterococcal species have been identified, only two (Enterococcus faecalis and Enterococcus faecium) are responsible for the majority of human infections. Vancomycin is an important therapeutic alternative against multidrug-resistant enterococci but is associated with a poor prognosis.
