Diabetic kidney disease (DKD) significantly increases mortality, with patients facing a fourfold risk of death within ten years. Chronic inflammation, marked by transforming growth factor-β (TGF-β) and intracellular adhesion molecule-1 (ICAM-1) activity, contributes to kidney damage and fibrosis. This study investigates the effect of autologous dendritic cells on inflammation and kidney function, focusing on apparent diffusion coefficient (ADC), TGF-β, and ICAM-1 levels.

The prevalence of type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) is increasing worldwide, leading to a higher incidence of diabetic kidney disease (DKD), a major risk factor for end-stage kidney disease (ESKD). This study investigates the effects of autologous dendritic cell (DC) therapy on albuminuria and inflammatory biomarkers (IL-6, IL-10, and TNF-α) in DKD patients. An open-label clinical trial was conducted with 69 DKD outpatients at the Gatot Soebroto Army Central Hospital (RSPAD GS).

A typical consequence of type 2 diabetes mellitus, diabetic kidney disease (DKD) is a significant risk factor for end-stage renal disease. The pathophysiology of diabetic kidney disease (DKD) is mainly associated with the immune system, which involves adhesion molecules and growth factors disruption, excessive expression of inflammatory mediators, decreased levels of anti-inflammatory mediators, and immune cell infiltration in the kidney. Dendritic cells are professional antigen-presenting cells acting as a bridge connecting innate and adaptive immune responses.

World Health Organization (WHO) issued the latest recommendations regarding the management of drug-resistant Tuberculosis (TB) in 2022, allowing the replacement of ethambutol (6 months) with linezolid (2 months). This recommendation also introduced a new regimen, namely bedaquiline, pretomanide, linezolid, moxifloxacin (BPaLM) for fluoroquinolone-sensitive patients and bedaquiline, pretomanide, linezolid, (BPaL) for patients insensitive to fluoroquinolone (6-9 months). The latest TB regimen introduced by WHO provides a shorter-course treatment, however not much has been discussed about the impact of this new regimen on chronic kidney disease (CKD) patients, particularly on hemodialysis (HD).

Unlabelled: Pleuroperitoneal leak as a cause of pleural effusions in peritoneal dialysis is a rare but important complication to consider in continuous ambulatory peritoneal dialysis (CAPD) patients presenting with recurrent progressive dyspnoea. Generally, these effusions are unilateral and right-sided, resulting in shortness of breath and reduced ultrafiltration volume, which are initially managed by peritoneal rest. We describe a case of bilateral pleural effusions in a 57-year-old female on chronic CAPD who developed recurrent progressive dyspnoea but maintained adequate dialysis output.

Introduction: Interim analysis of phase I and phase II clinical trials of personalized vaccines made from autologous monocyte-derived dendritic cells (DCs) incubated with S-protein of SARS-CoV-2 show that this vaccine is safe and well tolerated. Our previous report also indicates that this vaccine can induce specific T-cell and B cell responses against SARS-CoV-2. Herein, we report the final analysis after 1 year of follow-up regarding its safety and efficacy in subjects of phase I and phase II clinical trials.

Finding a vaccine that can last a long time and effective against viruses with high mutation rates such as SARS-CoV-2 is still a challenge today. The various vaccines that have been available have decreased in effectiveness and require booster administration. As the professional antigen presenting cell, Dendritic Cells can also activate the immune system, especially T cells.

The immune response of dengue fever/dengue hemorrhagic fever is a series of immunopathogenesis processes starting from viral infection to the target on monocytes and macrophages. It may consequently cause a cascade of viremia in the circulation that stimulates the afferent, efferent, and effector mechanism by the interaction of the humoral and complement system. The cascade results in inflammatory substance that will affect capillary permeability and activate coagulation factors leading to further effects on endothelial level.
