Objective: The purpose of the study was to differentiate between benign and malignant thyroid nodules using nodule-spinal cord signal intensity and nodule apparent diffusion coefficient (ADC) ratios on diffusion-weighted magnetic resonance imaging (DW-MRI).
Materials And Methods: Forty-four patients (27 females, 17 males; mean age, 49 years) with nodules who underwent DW-MRI were included in this study. The images were acquired with 0, 50, 400 and 1000 s/mm(2)b values.

Tuberous sclerosis (TS) is an autosomal-dominant disorder characterized by a variety of hamartomatous lesions in various organs. Various organ involvements can be detected with radiology: neurologic involvement (cortical tubers, subependymal nodules and white matter abnormalities), renal involvement (angiomyolipoma) and pulmonary involvement (pulmonary lymphangioleiomyomatosis, multifocal micronodular pneumocyte hyperplasia). Here, we are reporting a case of tuberous sclerosis with multiple organ involvement and massive bilateral AMLs in a 49-year-old female patient.

Background: The pathophysiological mechanism of chronic urticaria is still poorly understood and its aetiology is considered to have an autoreactive basis. Autologous serum skin tests (ASSTs) and autologous plasma skin tests (APSTs) comprise the simplest ways for diagnosing autoreactive urticaria (with autoantibodies, histamine-releasing factor and coagulation factors, especially thrombin) in a clinical setting. However, there are still some questions about the specificity of these tests.

The prevalence of otitis media with effusion (OME) and environmental risk factors were investigated in 423 children aged 7-12 years at three primary schools in Princes' Islands, Istanbul, Turkey. An ear, nose and throat examination, including tympanometry, was performed in April (end of the school year) and the families completed a questionnaire about potential risk factors. Type B or C2 tympanograms were taken as indicating OME.

Objective: Our aim was to establish a standardized approach for patients with palmoplantar and axillary hyperhidrosis and to compare patient satisfaction and complication rates for two different operations.
Materials And Methods: Between 2008 and 2010, 30 patients underwent conventional T3/4 clipping (group A), and 30 underwent only T3 and T6 clipping (group B). Both groups were compared with regard to compensatory sweating (CS), complications, patient satisfaction and recovery of plantar hyperhidrosis.

Thomas syndrome is a rare syndrome including Potter sequence, renal anomalies, heart defects, cleft palate with other oropharyngeal anomalies. Here, we report a newborn with Potter sequence, bilateral renal hypoplasia and cystic dysplasia, multiple cardiovascular malformations, long large ears, frontal bossing, small lips, partial simple toe syndactyly, and cleft palate. To our best knowledge, this patient may be considered as a new variant of Thomas syndrome or a new syndrome.

Background: Surgical treatment of bronchiectasis is associated with acceptable mortality and morbidity rates. To date, few reports on the prediction of postoperative morbidity using some preoperative measures have been presented. We present our results regarding the influence of some specific factors on postoperative morbidity on young adult patients who were treated surgically for bronchiectasis.

Objective: To investigate the association between the clinical severity of childhood asthma and serum leptin levels, to define whether the severity of asthma correlates with body mass index (BMI) or serum leptin levels and to examine the sensitivity of leptin levels in predicting asthma severity.
Methods: This study was conducted in 65 patients, aged 2 to 14 yrs with newly diagnosed asthma without any chronic co-morbidity. The subjects were distributed into three groups according to the severity of asthma.

Objective: To evaluate the usefulness of renal zinc clearance/glomerular filtration rate ratio (R(ClZn)/GFR) as an indicator of marginal zinc deficiency that is generally associated with iron deficiency in childhood.
Methods: Zinc status was evaluated in 36 iron-deficient children (22 boys and 14 girls) who ranged in age from 1 to 10 years using serum zinc concentration and U(Zn/Cr) and R(ClZn)/GFR ratios. The results were compared with the zinc status of 36 similar-aged healthy children (24 boys and 12 girls).

Background: Apelin is a novel adipocytokine produced by white adipose tissue that binds the APJ receptor with high affinity. Insulin may have a role in regulation of apelin synthesis and secretion from the adipose tissue.
Objective: To investigate blood apelin concentrations in children with type 1 diabetes mellitus (T1DM) and display association of apelin with adiponectin, body mass index (BMI), lipids and insulin sensitivity.

The first case demonstrating the association of a port wine stain with pneumosinus dilatans was reported in 2003 by Dogan B et al. The current study is an extension of that case report, attempting to demonstrate that the association of pneumosinus dilatans and port wine stain is clinically significant and warrants clinical evaluation in patients with port wine stains. We aimed to evaluate the patients with or without facial port wine stains if they had pneumosinus dilatans.

The adrenal gland is a common site of disease, with an abnormality prevalence as high as 9% in autopsy series. With the increasing use of CT, adrenal lesions are frequently found in the daily practice of radiology and are diagnosed in up to 5% of CT examinations performed for varied reasons. Imaging features on CT can establish a specific diagnosis of many of these lesions, including myelolipoma, hematoma and cysts.
