Intracranial atherosclerotic disease is a major cause of ischemic stroke. Stenting and aggressive medical management for preventing recurrent stroke in intracranial stenosis was terminated prematurely due to a high stroke and death rate in patients randomized for intracranial stent placement. However, for some patients, angioplasty and/or stent placement remains the best approach.

Meperidine is an opiod analgesic used in a variety of clinical situations. The active metabolite, normeperidine, is a central nervous system excitatory agent and has the ability to cause irritability, hyperreflexia, tremor, myoclonus and seizures. Previously identified risk factors for the development of meperidine-related seizures include renal failure, high meperidine dosages, and co-adminestration of hepatic enzyme inducing medications or phenothiazines which decreases seizure treshold.

Transient osteoporosis of the hip (TOH) is a rare clinical condition with usually an unknown aetiology and which typically develops in middle-aged men, or in women in the third trimester of their pregnancy. It is characterized by transient osteopenia and by gradually increasing pain associated with a limitation of the range of motion of the hip. Bone marrow oedema is a typical but nonspecific finding in TOH.

Background: We investigated the validity of probe-to-bone testing in the diagnosis of osteomyelitis in a selected subgroup of patients clinically suspected of having diabetic foot osteomyelitis.
Methods: Between January 1, 2007, and December 31, 2008, inpatients and outpatients with a diabetic foot ulcer were prospectively evaluated, and those having a clinical diagnosis of foot infection and at least one of the osteomyelitis clinical suspicion criteria were consecutively included in this study.
Results: Sixty-five patients met the inclusion criteria and were prospectively enrolled in the study.

Objective: The purpose of this study is to determine the effectiveness of the diffusion-weighted magnetic resonance imaging (DWI) of the differentiation of benign and malignant testicular masses.
Methods: Fifteen male patients who admitted to our clinic with the diagnosis of testicular mass detected by ultrasound were enrolled to this study. The patients were between 20 and 61 years old (mean 25.

The objective is to compare immediate and delayed SWL as a treatment for ureter stones between 5 and 20 mm. Patients who applied to the emergency department with single, radio opaque ureteric stone of 5-20 mm size were included in the study. Patients were randomized into immediate and delayed SWL groups.

Introduction: Endovascular treatment of intracranial aneurysms has been an effective treatment option. In this paper, we report our experience with the Silk stent (SS) for endovascular treatment of complex intracranial aneurysms and present periprocedural events, immediate results, delayed complications, and imaging and clinical follow-up results.
Methods: We retrospectively examined angiographic images and clinical reports of 76 consecutive patients with 87 intracranial aneurysms who were treated with SSs between March 2008 and June 2011.

Purpose: To assess the reliability of cultures of superficial swabs (SS) by comparing them with cultures of concomitantly obtained deep tissue (DT) specimens in patients with diabetic foot ulcers.
Methods: We reviewed clinical and microbiological data from patients with diabetes who presented during a two-year period to our hyperbaric medicine center with a foot ulcer. We identified patients who had at least one concomitantly collected SS and DT pair of specimens sent for culture.

Objective: To determine possible acute kidney injury with new marker neutrophil gelatinase-associated lipocalin (NGAL) in urine and to show the relationship between changes of this marker and conventional markers in patients undergoing shock wave lithotripsy (SWL).
Methods: In patients with kidney stones, serum urea, creatinine, urine microalbumin, and NGAL levels were determined before SWL and at the first, second, and seventh days after SWL. In addition, patients who had undergone SWL were evaluated with Technetium-99m (Tc99m)-dimercaptosuccinic acid (DMSA) and Tc99m-diethylenetriaminepenta acetate renal scintigraphy 1 week before and 3 months after SWL.

In response to systemic infection, mice usually present specific behaviors such as reduced activity and feeding, ruffled fur, hunched position, ataxia and tremor. We aimed to compare tissue bioluminescence, tissue cultures and clinical scores of BALB/c mice as potentially complementary outcome measures of Salmonella disease progression In Balb/c mice. The clinical status of the mice was assessed by visual examination for motility, ruffled fur, hunched position, feeding, ataxia and tremor.

Background And Purpose: There are no definite data indicating which modality to use to assess the efficacy of shockwave lithotripsy (SWL). Usually, plain abdominal radiography (PAR) is recommended in percutaneous nephrolithotomy (PCNL) afterward and in the follow-up of asymptomatic stones, whereas noncontrast CT (NCCT) is recommended in cases of residual fragments. We compared the efficacies of PAR and NCCT in terms of assessing the outcome of SWL treatment for radiopaque ureteral stones.

The objective of the study is to investigate the effect of doxazosin, administered to the subjects who underwent SWL due to upper ureteral stones, on therapeutic outcomes. The study enrolled the patients with a radio-opaque stone ≥5 mm in upper ureter. Patients were randomized into two groups: the first group underwent SWL following the diagnosis and they were recommended to receive oral hydration.
