A novel glycoprotein assay was developed by integrating the hairpin aptamer (H-APT)-mediated glycoprotein recognition and the reactive oxygen species-sensitive microcapsule (ROS-MC)-induced signal amplification. The analyzing process begins with the transfer of the target glycoprotein to a chlorin e6 (Ce6)-labeled DNA sequence via H-APT-mediated DNA displacement. Subsequently, the Ce6-labeled DNA was used to induce the disassembly of fluorophore-loaded ROS-MC under 650-nm light irradiation.

Connective tissue growth factor (CTGF) and Caspase 8 (CASP8) have been implicated in cancer development and progression. Variants such as CASP8 rs3834129 (-652 6N I/D) and CTGF rs6918698 (-945 C>G) have been associated with several cancers, although their association is still debated between populations. This study investigates the possible association between the CASP8 rs3834129 and CTGF rs6918698 variants with colorectal cancer (CRC) in Mexican patients.

To assess the protective effects of (-)-Epigallocatechin-3-gallate (EGCG), a natural antioxidant, against cellular oxidative damage induced by titanium dioxide nanoparticles (TiO2-NPs), Human Colon cells NCM460 and Colon Cancer cells SW620 were selected for this study. The cells were divided into three groups: control group, TiO2-NPs (80 μg/mL) exposure group, and EGCG (20 μmol/L)+TiO2-NPs (80 μg/mL) co-exposure group. The study evaluated the precipitation rate of TiO2-NPs influenced by EGCG in a cell-free system.

Colorectal cancer (CRC) is the third most frequent type of cancer and the second leading cause of cancer-related deaths globally. Despite a thorough understanding of its biology, etiology, and epidemiology, an estimated 1.8 million new cases are diagnosed each year, and 900000 people die as a result of malignancy.

Colorectal cancer is the third most commonly diagnosed cancer worldwide and the second most common cause of cancer-related death in both men and women. Although a number of treatments are available to combat this malignancy, the antimetabolite 5-fluorouracil has been the cornerstone of therapy since its synthesis in the 1950s. Unfortunately, the prolonged use of 5-fluorouracil can lead to chemoresistance, which has prompted research into combination regimens to improve efficacy and quality of life and reduce resistance.

Background: Gastric cancer (GC) remains one of the most lethal malignancies globally, with limited therapeutic options. Cancer-associated fibroblasts (CAFs), a diverse population of stromal cells within the tumor microenvironment (TME), play a central role in tumor progression and therapeutic resistance. However, the specific markers identifying tumor-promoting CAF subsets in GC have yet to be fully characterized.

Background: Immunotherapy utilizing dendritic cells (DCs) and cytokine-induced killer (CIK) cells is a promising treatment approach for solid tumors. This systematic review and meta-analysis aimed to evaluate the efficacy and safety of DC-CIK immunotherapy by assessing overall survival, progression-free survival, overall response rate, disease control rate, and adverse events in relevant randomized controlled trials. The results of this analysis will contribute to optimizing treatment strategies and improving cancer immunotherapy outcomes.

Background: The survival benefit of adjuvant chemotherapy after curative hepatectomy for colorectal cancer (CRC) liver metastases remains controversial. This retrospective study aimed to evaluate the efficacy of adjuvant chemotherapy in improving recurrence-free survival (RFS) and overall survival (OS) in patients who underwent curative hepatectomy for CRC liver metastases at a tertiary medical center.
Methods: We retrospectively analyzed clinicopathological factors in 89 patients (surgery alone, n = 63; adjuvant chemotherapy, n = 26) who underwent curative hepatectomy for CRC liver metastases from January 2010 to December 2022.

Background: Lymphovascular invasion (LVI) has been identified as a prognostic factor in various cancers, but its significance in node-negative gastric cancer remains unclear. Gastric cancer prognosis is notably affected by lymph node metastasis, with LVI potentially indicating metastatic spread.
Methods: A retrospective review was conducted on 5,699 patients who underwent curative radical gastrectomy for gastric cancer between 1989 and 2018.

Introduction: Combination of Standardized Patient (SP) and Case Based Learning (CBL) is a common method in medical education, but traditional SP (TSP) may not be conducive to students' mastery of basic medical knowledge and the cultivation of clinical thinking. Therefore, it is necessary to innovate SP to optimize SP combined with CBL teaching method.
Objective: This study aims to explore the effectiveness of a chatbot utilizing standardized patients based on CBL (CSP-CBL) for colorectal cancer education.

Background: There is increasing interest in enhancing the response of the PARP inhibitor olaparib, which is currently approved for pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma (PDAC) patients with defects in DNA damage repair associated with germline BRCA1/2 mutations. Moreover, agents that can mimic these defects in the absence of germline BRCA1/2 mutations are an area of active research in hopes of increasing the number of patients eligible for treatment with PARP inhibitors. The extent to which regorafenib, an FDA-approved tyrosine kinase inhibitor, can be used to enhance the efficacy of PARP inhibitors in PDAC cells without known BRCA1/2 mutations remains to be investigated.

Accumulating evidences have indicated that cancer stem cells (CSCs) can initiate tumor progression and cause recurrence after therapy. However, specific markers of gastric CSCs (GCSCs) from different origins have not been comprehensively revealed. Here, we further detected whether cell populations labelled with CD44 and Lgr5, well-recognized stem markers for gastric cancer (GC), can better emphasize cancer initiation, therapeutic resistance and recurrence.
