Introduction: The gut microbiota plays a pivotal role in influencing host health, through the production of metabolites and other key signalling molecules. While the impact of specific metabolites or taxa on host cells is well-documented, the broader impact of a disrupted microbiota on immune homeostasis is less understood, which is particularly important in the context of the increasing overuse of antibiotics.
Methods: Female C57BL/6 mice were gavaged twice daily for four weeks with Vancomycin, Polymyxin B, or PBS (control).

Objective: We aimed to evaluate microbiome and microbiota-derived C18 dietary polyunsaturated fatty acids (PUFAs), such as conjugated linoleic acid (CLA), and to investigate their differences that correlate with arthritis severity in collagen-induced arthritis (CIA) mice.
Methods: On day 84 after induction, during the chronic phase of arthritis, cecal samples were analyzed using 16S rRNA sequencing, and plasma and cecal digesta were evaluated using liquid chromatography-tandem mass spectrometry. Differences in microbial composition between 10 control (Ctrl) and 29 CIA mice or between the mild and severe subgroups based on arthritis scores were identified.

Purpose: This study aims to evaluate the effectiveness and safety of prophylactic hyperthermic intraperitoneal chemotherapy (P-HIPEC) in patients with locally advanced gastric cancer (AGC) after laparoscopic radical gastrectomy. Additionally, it explores how the frequency and timing of P-HIPEC influence treatment outcomes.
Methods: A retrospective analysis was conducted on 227 patients with locally AGC who underwent laparoscopic surgery at Maoming People's Hospital from January 2016 to December 2022.

The prognostic value of negative regulators of ferroptosis in patients with colorectal cancer (CRC) has not yet been fully elucidated. The present study performed a systematic identification and selection of candidate negative regulators of ferroptosis using The Cancer Genome Atlas data cohort (n=367), followed by clinical validation through immunohistochemistry of samples from patients with CRC (n=166) and further evaluation. analysis identified specific light-chain subunit of the cystine/glutamate antiporter, AIFM2, NFE2L2, FTH1, GLS2, glutathione peroxidase 4 (GPX4) and heat shock protein β-1 (HSPB1) genes as possible candidates.

Recent research has demonstrated the efficacy of traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) and its active compounds in combating cancer, leading to an increasing utilization of TCM as adjunctive therapy in clinical oncology. However, the optimal dosage of TCM remains unclear, and excessive use may result in cardiotoxicity, which poses a significant health concern for patients undergoing systemic treatment. Therefore, elucidating the underlying mechanisms of cytotoxicity induced by TCM can provide valuable insights for clinical management.

Background: Whey protein's biochemical properties make it an ideal nutritional supplement for patients with cancer, especially in perioperative care. Thus, the present study aims to assess the efficacy of whey protein supplementation (WPS) compared to standard care in enhancing postoperative outcomes for patients undergoing comprehensive surgical staging for gynecological cancer.
Methods: In an open-label, randomized controlled trial conducted at Rajavithi Hospital between November 28, 2023 and July 8, 2024, 61 patients scheduled for comprehensive surgical staging were enrolled.

The investigation of changes in the membrane of cancer cells holds great potential for biomedical applications. Malignant cells exhibit overexpression of receptors, which can be used for targeted drug delivery, therapy, and bioimaging. Targeted bioimaging is one the most accurate imaging methods with a non-invasive nature, allowing for localization of the malignant cell without disrupting cellular integrity.

The cancers of the gastrointestinal (GI) tract have become a common diagnosis worldwide contributing to a large number of mortalities. Though potentially curable they are mostly fatal due to late diagnosis and lack of accurate diagnostic markers. microRNA, micromanagers of gene expression have been associated to have distinct roles as oncogenes or tumour suppressors in several cancers including GI cancers.

The use of combination therapies that employ a variety of cell death mechanisms has emerged as a promising avenue of research in the treatment of cancer. However, the optimization of therapeutic synergies when integrating different modes remains a significant challenge. To this end, we developed a multifunctional intelligent drug-carrying nanoparticle (DFMTCH NPs) based on the metal-organic framework MIL-100, loaded with doxorubicin (DOX) and disulfiram (DSF), coated with a Cu-tannic acid (Cu-TA) network and hyaluronic acid (HA), for the purpose of combined chemotherapy/chemodynamic/photothermal anti-cancer therapy.

Attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) is a complex neurodevelopmental condition, predominantly affecting children, characterized by inattention, hyperactivity, and impulsivity. A growing body of evidence has highlighted the potential influence of the gut microbiota on the onset and presentation of ADHD symptoms. The gut microbiota, a diverse microbial ecosystem residing within the gastrointestinal tract, exerts multiple effects on systemic physiology, including immune modulation, metabolic regulation, and neuronal signalling.

This condition results in hypoalbuminemia, hypogammaglobulinemia, and lymphopenia due to the abnormal leakage of lymphatic fluid into the gastrointestinal tract. As there are no specific serological or radiological tests available, the gold standard for diagnosing intestinal lymphangiectasia is endoscopic examination with histopathological examination of intestinal biopsy specimens.

Long-term exposure to ultraviolet radiation compromises skin structural integrity and results in disruption of normal physiological functions. Stem cells have gained attention in anti-photoaging, while controlling the tissue mechanical microenvironment of cell delivery sites is crucial for regulating cell fate and achieving optimal therapeutic performances. Here, we introduce a mechanically regulated human recombinant collagen (RHC) microcarrier generated through microfluidics, which is capable of modulating stem cell differentiation to treat photoaged skin.
