Background: Polyarteritis nodosa is a relatively uncommon type of systemic necrotizing vasculitis that primarily affects medium-sized arteries. While gastrointestinal involvement is known in polyarteritis nodosa, heavy gastrointestinal bleeding due to gastric ulceration is relatively uncommon. We present the case of an 81-year-old male of Chinese ethnicity who experienced severe gastrointestinal bleeding as a result of polyarteritis nodosa and an innovative treatment approach for a better patient outcomes.

This study aims to decipher the mechanism of the broth of Codonopsis Radix fermented with Lactobacillus plantarum(FCR) on the gastric mucosa in the rat model of acute gastric ulcer. A total of 64 SD rats were randomized into 8 groups: control, model, positive control(omeprazole), probiotic, unfermented Codonopsis Radix, and low-, medium-and high-dose FCR, with 8 rats in each group. The rat model of acute gastric ulcer was established by gavage with anhydrous ethanol.

Background: Hepatogastric fistula (HGF) is an uncommon occurrence that can be associated with various medical conditions. The primary causes typically involve peptic ulcer disease, infections (such as pyogenic, amoebic or tuberculosis), or iatrogenic factors (like post transarterial chemoembolization or radiotherapy). Massive gastrointestinal hemorrhage following HGF is extremely rare, with iodine-125 (I) seed migration to the stomach through HGF not previously documented.

Background: Pharmacologic prophylaxis for gastric ulcer is commonly prescribed in patients hospitalized in the intensive care unit (ICU). The aim of the study was to assess the current prevalence and risk factors for gastric mucosa lesion in ICU patients receiving standard pharmacologic prophylaxis undergoing endoscopy for percutaneous gastrostomy implantation.
Methods: Patients hospitalized in the mixed medical-surgical ICU undergoing percutaneous endoscopic gastrostomy (PEG) were analyzed.

The present study aims to assess the therapeutic potential of (2S,3S,4S,5S,6S-2-(acetoxymethyl)-6-(4-chlorophenyl)-3-(pyridine-4-yl)5-thioxo-4,5-dihydro-1,2,4-triazol-1-yl tetrahydro-2H-pyran 3,4,5tryltriacetate (JAK05) on gastric ulcer. The current study was designed to evaluate the anti-ulcer potential of JAK05 against ethanol-induced gastric ulcer by employing in silico, in vitro and in vivo techniques. In silico studies, JAK05 has a binding score ranging from -8.

Epstein-Barr virus (EBV) is a herpesvirus capable of establishing lifelong latent infections, leading to a wide spectrum of diseases. It can affect multiple organs, including the gastrointestinal tract, typically through lymphoproliferative syndromes or gastric cancer, while acute gastrointestinal disease is rare and poorly understood. Two cases of EBV-induced acute colitis in kidney transplant recipients were described.

Aging is a multifactorial biological process characterized by a decline in physiological function and increasing susceptibility to various diseases, including malignancies and gastrointestinal disorders. Helicobacter pylori () infection is highly prevalent among older adults, particularly those in institutionalized settings, contributing to conditions such as atrophic gastritis, peptic ulcer disease, and gastric carcinoma. This review examines the intricate interplay between aging, gastrointestinal changes, and pathogenesis.

In this report, we disclose the design and synthesis of a series of 2-trifluoromethyl-2H- chromene ethers as novel COX-2 inhibitors with low ulcerogenicity. Among them, 6-fluoro-3-(4-methoxyphenyl)-2-(2-(thiophen-3-yl)ethoxy)-2-(trifluoromethyl)-2H-chromene (E25) significantly suppressed LPS-induced release of NO and PGE, expression of COX-2 and iNOS, and activation of NF-κB pathway. The inhibitory effect of E25 on human recombinant COX-2 (IC = 70.

Diffuse large B-cell lymphoma (DLBCL) is the most common type of immunoblastic lymphoma associated with AIDS, with the stomach being the most frequent extranodal site of involvement. Despite the widespread use of combined antiretroviral therapy (cART), the incidence of systemic lymphomas remains relatively high. These lymphomas often present in the early stages of AIDS as high-grade malignancies.

Helicobacter pylori, a significant factor in the development of gastric cancer and peptic ulcers, poses challenges for drug development due to its resilience. Computational approaches offer potential solutions for effective vaccine development targeting its antigens while ensuring stability and safety. The four critical antigenic proteins included in this study's innovative vaccine design are neuraminyllactose-binding hemagglutinin (HpaA), catalase (KatA), urease (UreB), and vacuolating toxin (VacA).
