Background: Cerebral palsy (CP) is a neurodevelopmental disorder and motor disorder syndrome. It has been confirmed that mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs) and mouse nerve growth factor (mNGF) can repair brain tissue damage and nerve injury; however, exosomes derived from healthy cells may have a comparable therapeutic potential as the cells themselves.
Objectives: The purpose of this study was to explore the improvement effect of human umbilical cord mesenchymal stem cell (hUC-MSCs)-derived exosomes on a CP model and determine whether there is a synergistic effect when combined with mNGF.

Salidroside, a phenolic compound isolated from various plants, is the principal active constituent of Traditional Chinese Medicine known for its adaptogenic properties. Due to the challenging environment of species, such as high altitude, high radiation, drought, and hypoxia, the source of salidroside is scarce. However, numerous studies have shown that salidroside has a range of biological activities, including cardiovascular and central nervous system activity, and anti-hypoxia, anti-inflammatory, and anti-aging activities.

Objective: The prevalence and characteristics of drug-related problems (DRPs) in the cardiovascular surgery unit have not been adequately explored, leaving a gap in our understanding of this critical issue. This study aimed to address this gap by determining the prevalence, characteristics of DRPs and identifying factors associated with their occurrence.
Methods: During a non-consecutive 48-month study period, a retrospective analysis was conducted to investigate DRPs and the interventions carried out by pharmacists for patients undergoing cardiovascular surgery.
Objective: The aim of this study was to investigate the role of ferroptosis in the occurrence of postoperative cognitive dysfunction (POCD) using a mouse model and to elucidate whether electroacupuncture (EA) can improve POCD by suppressing ferroptosis via the transferrin receptor 1 (TFR1)-divalent metal transporter 1 (DMT1)-ferroportin (FPN) pathway.
Methods: The experiment involved three groups: the control group, the POCD group and the POCD + EA group. The POCD animal model was established using sevoflurane anesthesia and tibial fracture.

Background: Tumor-associated macrophages (TAMs), particularly M2-polarized TAMs, are significant contributors to tumor progression, immune evasion, and therapy resistance in gastric cancer (GC). Despite efforts to target TAM recruitment or depletion, clinical efficacy remains limited. Consequently, the identification of targets that specifically inhibit or reprogram M2-polarized TAMs presents a promising therapeutic strategy.

Implantation of a mesh loaded with mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs) is a common approach for the treatment of pelvic organ prolapse (POP). The mesh provides effective support to pelvic floor, enhancing muscle contraction of pelvic organs while reducing inflammation. In this study, a fully degradable mesh is designed for the treatment of POP, utilizing MSCs stimulated by a galvanic battery-powered electric field.

Rheumatoid arthritis (RA) is an inflammatory autoimmune disease, primarily characterized by chronic symmetric synovial inflammation and erosive bone destruction.Mitochondria, the primary site of cellular energy production, play a crucial role in energy metabolism and possess homeostatic regulation capabilities. Mitochondrial function influences the differentiation, activation, and survival of both immune and non-immune cells involved in RA pathogenesis.

A safe and effective vaccine is urgently needed to prevent acute respiratory infections caused by respiratory syncytial virus (RSV). Oral administration offers several advantages, including ease of delivery, minimal stress for vaccine recipients, and greater safety than the systemic injection. In this study, we developed an oral vaccine candidate based on the human adenovirus serotype 5 (Ad5) vector, Ad5-PreF-DS2, encoding a prefusion protein of RSV with a dsRNA as an endogenous adjuvant.

Background: Chemotherapy-induced peripheral neuropathy (CIPN) significantly impairs the quality of life of patients undergoing chemotherapy and diminishes their adherence to the treatment regimen. Existing studies suggest that compression therapy may prevent the onset of CIPN, yet the specific efficacy remains to be conclusively determined.
Methods: We performed a systematic review and meta-analysis of randomized controlled trials (RCTs) comparing compression therapy with inactive comparators in patients scheduled for chemotherapy.

The maintenance of intracellular and extracellular adenosine triphosphate (ATP) levels plays a pivotal role in cardiac function. In recent years, burgeoning attention has been directed towards ATP-induced cell death (AICD), revealing it as a distinct cellular demise pathway triggered by heightened extracellular ATP concentrations, distinguishing it from other forms of cell death such as apoptosis and necrosis. AICD is increasingly acknowledged as a critical mechanism mediating the pathogenesis and progression of various cardiovascular maladies, encompassing myocardial ischemia-reperfusion injury, sepsis-induced cardiomyopathy, hypertrophic cardiomyopathy, arrhythmia, and diabetic cardiomyopathy.

The Hedgehog(Hh) signaling pathway has the functions of improving embryogenesis and maintaining tissue homeostasis. By influencing the tumor microenvironment, intervening in cell apoptosis, and regulating angiogenesis, it is pivotal in the occurrence, progression, and recovery of various tumors. Therefore, targeting and inhibiting the abnormal activation of the Hh pathway has become a potential research strategy for alleviating and treating cancer.

Traditional Chinese medicine(TCM) is widely used to prevent and treat various diseases due to its many active ingre-dients, diverse biological activities, low side effects, and drug resistance. The classical model organism Drosophila melanogaster, with its advantages of short life cycle, simple physiological structure, low cultivation cost, and easy operation, has been widely used in the modern research of TCM through gene regulation techniques including transgenic and gene knockout techniques. In this paper, the application of Drosophila in modern research of TCM was outlined from the disease models of inflammatory bowel disease, aging, tumor, neurodegenerative disease, and sleep disorders, with a view to providing new methods and techniques for the research and application of the model organism Drosophila in the field of TCM.
