Background: EBV-miR-BARTs exhibit significant relevance in epithelial tumors, particularly in EBV-associated gastric and nasopharyngeal cancers. However, their specific mechanisms in the initiation and progression of gastric cancer remain insufficiently explored.
Material And Methods: Initially, EBV-miRNA-BART6-5p and its target gene SMAD4 expression were assessed in EBV-associated gastric cancer tissues and cell lines.

Objective: To investigate the relationship between the expression of thioredoxin reductase 1 (TrxR1) in gastric cancer tissues and the survival time of patients with gastric cancer and its effect on the growth of gastric cancer cells.
Methods: The expression level of TrxR1 mRNA in gastric cancer tissues and adjacent tissues of 76 patients was determined by real-time PCR assays, and the relationship between the mRNA expression level of TrxR1 and the clinicopathological characteristics and prognosis of gastric cancer patients was analyzed. Three gastric cancer tissues and adjacent tissues were randomly selected, and the expression of TrxR1 protein was detected by immunohistochemistry and Western blot.

Background: The predictive model of postsurgical recurrence for solitary early hepatocellular carcinoma (SE-HCC) is not well established. The aim of this study was to develop a novel model for prediction of postsurgical recurrence and survival for patients with hepatitis B virus (HBV)-related SE-HCC ≤10 cm.
Patients And Methods: Data from 1,081 patients with HBV-related SE-HCC ≤10 cm who underwent curative liver resection from 2003 to 2016 in our center were collected retrospectively and randomly divided into the derivation cohort (n = 811) and the internal validation cohort (n = 270).

Long non-coding (lnc) RNA Erbb4-IR has been associated with diabetic renal injury; however, its roles in other diseases remain unknown. Therefore, the present study investigated the involvement of Erbb4-IR in prostate carcinoma. Reverse transcription-quantitative PCR was used to analyze gene expression in tissue samples collected from patients with prostate carcinoma.
View Article and Find Full Text PDFFerroptosis is characterized by the accumulation of iron-derived reactive oxygen species (ROS). Ferroptosis causes neuronal death in multiple neurological disorders. Dexmedetomidine (Dex), an extensively used anesthetic, has neuroprotective effects against ROS, but its effect on iron metabolism remains unknown.

Evidence from previous studies suggests that the male reproductive system can be disrupted by fetal or neonatal exposure to diethylstilbestrol (DES). However, the molecular basis for this effect remains unclear. To evaluate the effects of DES on mouse spermatocytes and to explore its potential mechanism of action, the levels of DNA methyltransferases (DNMTs) and DNA methylation induced by DES were detected.
