Thyroid storm is a syndrome related to acute exacerbation of thyrotoxicosis for which timely diagnosis and treatment are crucial. Importance of antithyroid drug therapy in thyroid storm patients has been emphasised in clinical treatments for a long time. These patients should receive definitive therapy for their underlying hyperthyroidism to avoid recurrence after controlling thyroid storm.

Purpose: Standard adjuvant chemotherapy for triple-negative breast cancer (TNBC) includes a taxane and an anthracycline. Concomitant capecitabine may be beneficial, but robust data to support this are lacking. The efficacy and safety of the addition of capecitabine into the TNBC adjuvant treatment regimen was evaluated.

Background: Circulating levels of the systemic inflammation marker C-reactive protein (CRP) have been associated with increased risk and poor outcomes of many diseases, such as cardiovascular events and cancer. Accumulating evidence has indicated that the conformational rearrangement of human pentameric CRP (pCRP) to monomeric CRP (mCRP) is a prerequisite for participation in the pathogenesis. Therefore, determining the mechanism of the dissociation of pCRP into pro-inflammatory mCRP under physiological/pathological circumstances has been intriguing.

Objective: To analyze the incidence and mortality rates of laryngeal cancer in China from 2008 to 2012.
Methods: Incident and death cases of laryngeal cancer were retrieved from the National Central Cancer Registry (NCCR) database collecting from 135 cancer registries in China during 2008-2012. The crude incidence and mortality rates of laryngeal cancer were calculated by area (urban/rural), region (eastern, middle, western), gender and age group (0, 1-4, 5-9, …, 85+).

Giant cell tumors(GCT) of bone is benign bone tumors with aggressive and osteolytic activity. As traditional treatment of GCT, removal of bone graft is disease with high local recurrence rate, and could reduce local recurrence by auxiliary means. Different surgical methods such as prosthesis replacement, wide resection and En-bloc resection could be selected for different parts of giant cell tumor of bone, based on the lesion location, size, extent of invasion, recurrence rate.

Background: Reliable biomarkers of apatinib response in gastric cancer (GC) are lacking. We investigated the association between early presence of common adverse events (AEs) and clinical outcomes in metastatic GC patients.
Patients And Methods: We conducted a retrospective cohort study using data on 269 apatinib-treated GC patients in two clinical trials.

Background: The role of radiation therapy in addition to chemotherapy has not been well established in non-oligometastatic Stage IV non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC). We aimed to investigate overall survival (OS) of non-oligometastatic Stage IV NSCLC treated with chemotherapy with concurrent radiation to the primary tumor.
Methods: Eligible patients were screened from two prospective studies.

Purpose: There is currently no standard treatment strategy for patients with advanced metastatic gastric cancer experiencing progression after two or more lines of chemotherapy. We assessed the efficacy and safety of apatinib, a novel vascular endothelial growth factor receptor 2 tyrosine kinase inhibitor, in patients with advanced gastric or gastroesophageal junction adenocarcinoma for whom at least two lines of prior chemotherapy had failed.
Patients And Methods: This was a randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled phase III trial.

Purpose: The aim of this prospective multi-institutional phase 2 study was to investigate disease control, survival outcomes, and toxicity after thoracic three-dimensional radiation therapy (3D-RT) with concurrent chemotherapy for newly diagnosed stage IV non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC).
Methods And Materials: Eligible patients were 18 to 80 years of age, had a Karnofsky performance status (KPS) score ≥70%, and newly diagnosed stage IV NSCLC with limited metastatic disease (defined as involving ≤3 organs). Patients received platinum-doublet chemotherapy with concurrent irradiation to the primary tumor.

The histone γH2AX is a marker of activated DNA damage that is overexpressed in various cancers and corresponding precursor lesions, indicating that γH2AX is a component in oncogenic transformation. The present study aimed to determine whether the immunohistochemical expression of γH2AX is involved in the progression between superficial gastritis (n=20), atrophic gastritis (n=24) and gastric carcinoma (n=79). There was no increase in γH2AX expression between superficial and atrophic gastritis, but there was a significant increase in γH2AX expression between these two conditions and gastric carcinoma (χ=68.

Purpose: Patients with metastatic gastric cancer (mGC) who do not respond to or who experience progression with second-line chemotherapy have no treatment options that clearly confer a survival benefit. This trial investigated the safety and efficacy of apatinib, an inhibitor of vascular endothelial growth factor receptor, as a treatment option for heavily pretreated patients with mGC.
Patients And Methods: Patients who experienced treatment failure with at least two chemotherapeutic regimens were randomly assigned to receive placebo (group A), apatinib 850 mg once daily (group B), or apatinib 425 mg twice daily (group C).

Background & Objective: It is a hot spot in tumor therapies to inhibit the angiogenesis of carcinoma. Our current study was designed to investigate the inhibitory effect of somatostatin analogue on the angiogenesis of gastric carcinoma by hypodermic injection.
Methods: Twenty-five patients who have positive expression of vascular endothelial growth factor(VEGF) and somatostatin receptor 2(SSTR2)were selected by gastroscopic biopsy and immunohistochemical staining before surgical operation.

Background & Objective: Regional chemotherapy is charactized by a high drug concentration in tumor tissues and slight side-effects. Some significant histopathological changes were observed in the patients with gastric carcinoma treated by selective intra-arterial infusion chemotherapy before operation. The aim of this study was to investigate the effect of preoperative intra-arterial chemotherapy on apoptosis and p53 expression in human gastric cancer and its clinical significance.
