In this study, heavy chain genes of IgD and IgT were sequenced and characterized their gene expression in rock bream (Oplegnathus fasciatus). Rock bream (RB)-IgD cDNA is 3319 bp in length and encodes a leader region, variable domains, a μ1 domain, and seven constant domains (CH1-CH7). A membrane-bound (mIgT) and secretory form (sIgT) of RB-IgT cDNAs are 1902 bp and 1689 bp in length, respectively, and encode a leader region, variable domains, four constant domains (CH1-CH4) and C-terminus.

Sexual reproduction is crucial for increasing the genetic diversity of populations and providing overwintering structures, such as perithecia and associated tissue, in the destructive plant pathogenic fungus . While mating-type genes serve as master regulators in fungal sexual reproduction, the molecular mechanisms underlying this process remain elusive. Winged-helix DNA-binding proteins are key regulators of embryogenesis and cell differentiation in higher eukaryotes.

Up to half of the senior dogs suffer from canine cognitive dysfunction syndrome (CCDS), the diagnosis method relies on subjective questionnaires such as canine cognitive dysfunction rating (CCDR) scores. Therefore, the necessity of objective diagnosis is emerging. Here, we developed blood-based biomarkers for CCDS early detection.

Inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) is a chronic disorder characterized by recurrent gastrointestinal inflammation, lacking a precise aetiology and definitive cure. The gut microbiome is vital in preventing and treating IBD due to its various physiological functions. In the interplay between the gut microbiome and human health, extracellular vesicles secreted by gut bacteria (BEVs) are key mediators.

This study investigates the changes in hippocampal proteomic profiles during demyelination and remyelination using the cuprizone model. Employing two-dimensional gel electrophoresis and liquid chromatography-tandem mass spectrometry for protein profiling, we observed significant alterations in the expression of ketimine reductase mu-crystallin (CRYM) and protein disulfide isomerase A3 precursor (PDIA3) following exposure to and subsequent withdrawal from cuprizone. Immunohistochemical staining validated these protein expression patterns in the hippocampus, revealing that both PDIA3 and CRYM were downregulated in the hippocampal CA1 region during demyelination and upregulated during remyelination.

Altered human aldo-keto reductase family 1 member C3 (AKR1C3) expression has been associated with poor prognosis in diverse cancers, ferroptosis resistance, and metabolic diseases. Despite its clinical significance, the endogenous biochemical roles of AKR1C3 remain incompletely defined. Using untargeted metabolomics, we identified a major transformation mediated by AKR1C3, in which a spermine oxidation product "sperminal" is reduced to "sperminol.

Marine organisms' lipid metabolism contributes to marine ecosystems by producing a variety of lipid molecules. Historically, research focused on the lipid metabolism of the organisms themselves. Recent microbiome studies, however, have revealed that gut microbial communities influence the amount and type of lipids absorbed by organisms, thereby altering the organism's lipid metabolism.

Infectious hematopoietic necrosis virus (IHNV) severely and lethally infects salmonid fish, including Atlantic salmon (Salmo salar) and rainbow trout (Oncorhynchus mykiss) worldwide. Rapid and accurate viral detection is crucial for preventing pathogen spread and minimizing damage. Although several IHNV detection assays have been developed, their analytical and diagnostic performances have not been evaluated and field usability assessments have not been completely validated.

Allatotropin (AT) has been identified in many insects and plays important roles in the regulation of their intestinal contraction, heart rate, ion transport, and digestive enzyme secretion. However, information on AT-related bioinformatics in other animal phyla is scarce. In this study, we cloned a full-length cDNA encoding the AT-related peptide receptor (ATRPR) of the abalone Haliotis discus hannai (Hdh) and further characterized Hdh-ATRPR with its potential ligands, Hdh-ATRPs.

Atopic dermatitis (AD) is a chronic inflammatory-allergic skin disorder that causes pruritic and eczematous skin lesions. Effect of extract (CFE) on AD has not been reported yet. In this study, inhibitory effects of CFE against skin severity scores, skin lesions, AD characteristics, and histological features of BALB/c mice with AD caused by 2,4-dinitrochlorobenzene (DNCB) were investigated.

Background: Re-implantation of failed implants is common to maintain the original prosthetic plan; however, it may not always be ideal due to various factors. Few studies have thoroughly investigated the outcomes of re-implanted implants, while considering factors that can enhance their survival rates. Therefore, this study aimed to identify the risk factors that may contribute to the refailure of implants placed the second time by analyzing previously failed implants and evaluating their survival.

Introduction: In strawberry farming, phenotypic traits (such as crown diameter, petiole length, plant height, flower, leaf, and fruit size) measurement is essential as it serves as a decision-making tool for plant monitoring and management. To date, strawberry plant phenotyping has relied on traditional approaches. In this study, an image-based Strawberry Phenotyping Tool (SPT) was developed using two deep-learning (DL) architectures, namely "YOLOv4" and "U-net" integrated into a single system.

This study investigates the evolving landscape of nursing informatics by conducting a follow-up survey initiated by the International Medical Informatics Association (IMIA) Students and Emerging Professionals (SEP) Nursing Informatics (NI) group in 2015 and 2019. The participants were asked to describe what they thought should be done in their institutions and countries to advance nursing informatics in the next 5-10 years. For this paper, responses in English acquired by December 2023 were analysed using inductive content analysis.

A novel encapsulation system was designed, utilizing sodium alginate (SA) polysaccharide as the matrix and easily absorbed Fe as the metal-organic framework, to construct microbead scaffolds with both high catechins (CA) and vitamin C (Vc) loading and antioxidant properties. The structure of microbead hydrocolloids was investigated using SEM, XPS, FTIR, XRD and thermogravimetry, and the antioxidant activity, in vitro digestion and the release of CA and Vc were evaluated. These results revealed that the microbead hydrocolloids SA-CA-Fe and SA-CA-Vc-Fe exhibited denser and stronger cross-linking structures, and the formation of inter- and intramolecular hydrogen and coordination bonds improved thermal stability.
