Evidence of the association between the gut microbiome and cardiovascular diseases has accumulated. An imbalance or dysbiosis of this system has been shown to play a role in the pathogenesis of cardiovascular events, including aortic diseases. We aimed to elucidate the findings of the gut microbial taxonomy associated with aortic diseases and their subtypes.

Background: Tyrosine kinase inhibitors targeting the vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) inhibitor pathway with immune checkpoint blockade have shown promising outcomes in managing metastatic renal cancer. However, they increase the risk of a person developing high blood pressure and cardiovascular complications.
Case Summary: In this study, we report the case of a 73-year-old woman on axitinib and pembrolizumab for her Stage 4 renal cell carcinoma.

Introduction: Neural crest cells (NCCs) are multipotent and are attributed to the combination of complex multimodal gene regulatory mechanisms. Cardiac neural crest (CNC) cells, originating from the dorsal neural tube, are pivotal architects of the cardio-neuro-vascular domain, which orchestrates the embryogenesis of critical cardiac and vascular structures. Remarkably, while the scientific community compiled a comprehensive inventory of neural crest derivatives by the early 1980s, our understanding of the CNC's role in various cardiovascular disease processes still needs to be explored.

Background: This study evaluates the implications of blood pressure homeostasis in bilateral vs. unilateral carotid surgeries, focusing on the incidence of postoperative hypertension, hyperperfusion syndrome, and stroke as primary outcomes. It further delves into the secondary outcomes encompassing major adverse cardiovascular events and all-cause mortality.

Background: Thoracoabdominal acute aortic syndrome is associated with high morbidity and mortality. We aim to scrutinize our evolving strategies for acute aortic syndrome (AAS) management using minimally invasive and adaptive surgical techniques over two decades.
Methods: This is a longitudinal observational study at our tertiary vascular centre from 2002 to 2021.

Although various neurodegenerative disorders have been associated with coeliac disease (CD), the underlying neuropathological link between these brain and gut diseases remains unclear. We postulated that the neuronal damage sporadically observed in CD patients is immune-mediated. Our aim was to determine if the loss of neurons, especially Purkinje cells, coincides with microglia activation and T- and B-cell infiltration in the cerebellum of patients with CD and a concomitant idiopathic neurological disease affecting the cerebellum (NeuroCD).

Objectives: We aim to scrutinize our evolving re-intervention strategies following primary endovascular aortic aneurysm repair (EVAR) - EVAR GORE SalvAge Fabric Technique (ARAFAT), aortic sac double breasting with endograft preservation, and stent-graft explantation.
Methods: We performed 1,555 aortic interventions over the study period, including 910 EVARs. Factors associated with the need for reintervention and the likelihood of chronic fabric fatigue failure (CFFF) were investigated.

This review discusses the impact of endovascular aneurysm repair on cardiovascular (CV) hemodynamics and the role of stent-graft material, i.e., polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE) vs.

Background: Early diagnosis and treatment of under-recognized retroperitoneal fibrosis (RPF) are essential before reaching the poorly responsive fibrotic stage. Although most patients respond to medical therapy, relapses and unresponsiveness are common. However, open surgery in medically resistant patients is associated with major adverse clinical events.

This study aims to review the available literature pertinent to vascular complications in COVID-19. A systematic search was performed using PubMed and Google Scholar to identify all relevant studies based on our study objective. Multiple studies have reported widespread systemic inflammation and procoagulant/hypercoagulable state in COVID-19, including thrombotic microangiopathy, endothelial dysfunction, bleeding disorder, and thrombosis.

Background: Thoracic and abdominal aortic stent grafts are firmer and more rigid than the native aorta. Aortic implanted devices have been implicated in the development of acute systolic hypertension, elevated pulse pressure, and reduced coronary perfusion.
Case Summary: We report four cases of staged thoracic endovascular aortic repair (TEVAR) and then endovascular aneurysm repair (EVAR).

Primary aortic tumors after endovascular aortic repair are rarely reported in the literature. Here, we report an elderly male with abdominal aortic leiomyosarcomas (LMS) after an endovascular aneurysm repair in 2012 for a 5-cm symptomatic abdominal aortic aneurysm using an Endurant II aortic stent graft (Medtronic, Minneapolis, Minn). The autopsy confirmed the aortic LMS after the patient rapidly deteriorated and succumbed to death.

Background: Resistant and uncontrolled hypertension prominently amplifies the risk of end-stage renal disease and fatal cardiovascular events. Therapeutic inertia, despite maximum tolerated anti-hypertensive medications, puts patients at high risk, thus non-pharmacologic therapies have been proposed.
