Hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) ranks as the third most prevalent reason for cancer-related death on a global scale. Tyrosine kinase inhibitors (TKIs) continue to be the primary treatment option for advanced hepatocellular carcinoma. A series of fluoro-11H-indeno[1,2-b]quinoxaline derivatives as an HCC drug targeting the VEGFR2/AKT axis was designed and synthesized.

A high cellulase-producing bacterial isolate TS4 was recovered from an Egyptian soil sample and identified using 16S rRNA gene sequencing as Streptomyces thermodiastaticus. One-factor-at-a-time (OFAT) preliminary studies were carried out to determine the key factors affecting cellulase production by S. thermodiastaticus and their optimum ranges.

Since cancer is becoming a leading cause of death worldwide, efforts should be concentrated on understanding its underlying biological alterations that would be utilized in disease management, especially prevention strategies. Within this context, multiple bodies of evidence have highlighted leptin's practical and promising role, a peptide hormone extracted from adipose and fatty tissues with other adipokines, in promoting the proliferation, migration, and metastatic invasion of breast carcinoma cells. Excessive blood leptin levels and hyperleptinemia increase body fat content and stimulate appetite.

Gouty arthritis is a prevalent inflammatory illness. Gout attacks begin when there is an imbalance in the body's uric acid metabolism, which leads to urate buildup and the development of the ailment. A family of conserved, short non-coding RNAs known as microRNAs (miRNAs) can regulate post-transcriptional protein synthesis by attaching to the 3' untranslated region (UTR) of messenger RNA (mRNA).

This research investigates a novel nanocomposite material composed of reduced graphene oxide (rGO) and nickel-5,15-bisdodecylporphyrin (Ni-BDP) nanoparticles for the effective removal of methyl orange (MO), a harmful synthetic dye, from water. The structure and composition of the synthesized rGO/Ni-BDP nanocomposite were characterized using high-resolution transmission electron microscopy (HR-TEM), Raman spectroscopy, nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) spectroscopy, mass spectrometry, and ultraviolet-visible (UV-Vis) spectroscopy. The study demonstrates the material's efficacy as both a catalyst and adsorbent for MO removal.

Leprosy is a chronic, debilitating disease lacking a definitive diagnostic biomarker. Serum anti-phenolic glycolipid-I (PGL-I) IgM antibody level is considered an important diagnostic and prognostic marker for leprosy patients. However, there is limited evidence on the role of anti-PGL-I IgM antibody level as early predictive biomarker of subclinical infection among Egyptian household contacts of leprosy patients.

Background: Depression is a pervasive mental health condition, particularly affecting older adults, where early detection and intervention are essential to mitigate its impact. This study presents an explainable multi-layer dynamic ensemble framework designed to detect depression and assess its severity, aiming to improve diagnostic precision and provide insights into contributing health factors.
Methods: Using data from the National Social Life, Health, and Aging Project (NSHAP), this framework combines classical machine learning models, static ensemble methods, and dynamic ensemble selection (DES) approaches across two stages: detection and severity prediction.

Background: Although there are many uses for metal-organic framework (MOF) based nanocomposites, research shows that these materials have received a lot of interest in the field of water treatment, namely in the photodegradation of water contaminants, and disinfection of some pathogenic bacteria and fungi. This is brought on by excessive water pollution, a lack of available water, low-quality drinking water, and the emergence of persistent micro-pollutants in water bodies. Photocatalytic methods may be used to remove most water contaminants, and pathogenic microbes, and MOF is an excellent modifying and supporting material for photocatalytic degradation.

Background: Using infection control barriers (ICBs) on light curing units (LCUs) became mandatory to achieve proper infection control measures without jeopardizing the integrity of the restorations, especially at deeper layers. This study explored the effect of two ICBs on the irradiance of the LCU, as well as the degree of conversion (DC) and flexural strength (FS) of two types of bulk-fill composites. Water vapor permeability (WVP) of both barriers was also assessed to evaluate the capability of such barriers to prevent transmission of blood and saliva droplets and aerosols.

Bone scintigraphy is recognized as an efficient diagnostic method for whole-body screening for bone metastases. At the moment, whole-body bone scan image analysis is primarily dependent on manual reading by nuclear medicine doctors. However, manual analysis needs substantial experience and is both stressful and time-consuming.
