Introduction: Membranous nephropathy can lead to end-stage kidney disease, for which kidney transplantation is the preferred therapy. However, the disease often relapses, which can impact allograft survival.
Methods: We conducted a prospective multicenter study in France involving 72 patients with membranous nephropathy who were awaiting and then underwent kidney transplantation.

Regional citrate anticoagulation use in intermittent hemodialysis is limited by the increased risk of metabolic complications due to faster solute exchanges than with continuous renal replacement therapies. Several simplifications have been proposed. The objective of this study was to validate a mathematical model of hemodialysis anticoagulated with citrate that was then used to evaluate different prescription scenarios on anticoagulant effectiveness (free calcium concentration in dialysis filter) and calcium balance.

Objective: Iliocaval thrombotic obstruction is a challenging condition, especially because thrombus age and corresponding pathological remodeling at presentation are unknown, which directly impacts management. Our aim was to assess the ability of magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) in determining age thresholds of experimentally created inferior vena cava (IVC) thrombosis in pigs.
Methods: We used a previously described swine model of IVC thrombosis.

Introduction: Arteriovenous malformations (AVMs) are rare, especially in elderly patients. Occasionally, AVM can produce aneurysmal degenerations, which can lead to bleeding or rupture. The aim of this case report was to describe the surgical treatment of large arterial and venous aneurysms in the arm associated with an AVM.

Background: Soft-tissue sarcomas represent approximately 1% of adult malignancies. When they involve the lower limbs (LLs) and come into contact with blood vessels, the therapeutic choice was historically a primary amputation. Today, radical surgical resection with wide margins of safety is the primary therapeutic option for multidisciplinary limb-salvage surgery.

Previous studies in Western diet (WD)-fed male rats have highlighted a link between the stimulation of cardiac contractility, mitochondrial adaptations and a pro-inflammatory fatty acid profile of phospholipids in the heart. Our objectives were to determine (1) if WD-fed female Wistar rats and obese humans display a similar pro-inflammatory profile in their cardiac phospholipids and (2) if this lipid profile is associated with deleterious effects on the heart of the female rodents. Female Wistar rats were fed WD for 5 weeks or a laboratory chow as a control.

Objectives: DnaJ homolog subfamily B member 9 (DNAJB9) is a co-chaperone protein that governs the functions and integrity of cells. In immunoglobulin G4-related disease (IgG4-RD), DNAJB9 was shown to be upregulated in plasma cells, but its immunohistochemical expression has never been explored. This pilot study aims to investigate the immunohistochemical distribution and intensity of DNAJB9 in IgG4-RD tissue specimens.

Background: Data on ventilator associated pneumonia (VAP) in COVID-19 and influenza patients admitted to intensive care units (ICU) are scarce. This study aimed to estimate day-60 mortality related to VAP in ICU patients ventilated for at least 48 h, either for COVID-19 or for influenza, and to describe the epidemiological characteristics in each group of VAP.
Design: Multicentre retrospective observational study.

Background: The respective benefits of high and low doses of dexamethasone (DXM) in patients with severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-Cov2) and acute respiratory failure (ARF) are controversial, with two large triple-blind RCTs reaching very important difference in the effect-size. In the COVIDICUS trial, no evidence of additional benefit of high-dose dexamethasone (DXM20) was found. We aimed to explore whether some specific patient phenotypes could benefit from DXM20 compared to the standard of care 6 mg dose of DXM (DXMSoC).

Purpose: In the assessment of basic medical knowledge, the composition of the reference panel between specialists and primary care (PC) physicians is a contentious issue. We assessed the effect of panel composition on the scores of undergraduate medical students in a script concordance test (SCT).
Methods: The scale of an SCT on basic nephrology knowledge was set by a panel of nephrologists or a mixed panel of nephrologists and PC physicians.

The aim of this review was to describe the changes in the microbiota of patients with Behçet's disease (BD) and the mechanisms involved in the relationship between the microbiome and immunity in BD. A systematic search for relevant articles was made on PubMed and the Cochrane Library database using the following terms: "microbiota AND Behçet's disease" or "microbiome AND Behçet's disease". Sixteen articles were included in a qualitative synthesis.

Background: Direct-acting antiviral (DAA) agents for the treatment of hepatitis C virus (HCV) infection have been proven safe and effective in cirrhotic patients awaiting liver transplantation (LT). However, in the long term, data remain minimal regarding the clinical impact of viral eradication on patients listed for decompensated cirrhosis or hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC). We aimed to elucidate the clinical outcomes of patients regarding delisting and the evolution of HCC during the long-term follow-up.

Background: To study the mortality and delays of management of patients with acute mesenteric ischemia (AMI) admitted to the emergency department of a tertiary hospital and identify risk factors for 1-month mortality.
Methods: A single-center and retrospective study including all consecutive patients treated for AMI from January 2008 to December 2018 was conducted. Short- and medium-term survival was studied with a Kaplan-Meier analysis.

Purpose: CAG/CAA repeat expansions in TBP are responsible for spinocerebellar ataxia (SCA) type 17 (SCA17). We previously detected cosegregation of STUB1 variants causing SCA48 with intermediate alleles of TBP in 2 families. This cosegregation questions the existence of SCA48 as a monogenic disease.

Importance: The benefit of high-dose dexamethasone and oxygenation strategies vs standard of care for patients with severe acute hypoxemic respiratory failure (AHRF) caused by COVID-19 pneumonia is debated.
Objectives: To assess the benefit of high-dose dexamethasone compared with standard of care dexamethasone, and to assess the benefit of high-flow nasal oxygen (HFNo2) or continuous positive airway pressure (CPAP) compared with oxygen support standard of care (o2SC).
Design, Setting, And Participants: This multicenter, placebo-controlled randomized clinical trial was conducted in 19 intensive care units (ICUs) in France from April 2020 to January 2021.

Background: Spontaneous coronary artery dissection (SCAD) is still an underdiagnosed condition that requires a detailed assessment of angiographic signs. It also shares similar clinical presentations with Takotsubo syndrome (TTS). The concomitant presentation of SCAD with TTS is a possible occurrence, making it difficult for clinicians to treat and manage.
