Background: Primary angle-closure glaucoma (PACG) is a leading cause of irreversible blindness worldwide. However, the features of the morphology of Schlemm's canal (SC) in PACG eyes after phacoemulsification with goniosynechialysis (phaco-GSL) surgery are still unknown. This study aimed to evaluate changes in the SC in Chinese patients with PACG after phaco-GSL using swept-source optical coherence tomography (SS-OCT).

Fabry disease is an X-linked lysosomal storage disorder caused by deficiency of the lysosomal enzyme ⍺-galactosidase-A (⍺-Gal A), resulting in widespread accumulation of terminal galactose-containing glycosphingolipids (GSLs) and the impairment of multiple organ systems. Thrombotic events are common in Fabry patients, with strokes and heart attacks being significant contributors to a shortened lifespan in patients of both genders. Previously, we developed an ⍺-Gal A-knockout (KO) murine model that recapitulates most Fabry symptomologies and demonstrated that platelets from KO males become sensitized to agonist-mediated activation.

Introduction: Cardiac hypertrophy is a compensatory stress response produced by a variety of factors, and pathologic hypertrophy can lead to irreversible, severe cardiac disease. Glycosphingolipids (GSLs) are vital constituents of cells, and changes in their content and composition are important factors causing mitochondrial dysfunction in diabetic cardiomyopathy; however, the relationship between GSLs expression and cardiac hypertrophy and specific mechanisms associated with it are not clear.
Methods: Here, using male C57BL/6 mice, we performed aortic arch reduction surgery to establish an animal model of pressure overload cardiac hypertrophy.

The possible cardiovascular advantages of glucagon-like peptide-1 receptor agonists (GLP-1RAs), a class of drugs predominantly used to treat type 2 diabetes (T2D), have garnered increasing attention in recent years. Clinical trials have looked into the possibility that GLP-1RAs have extra cardioprotective benefits in addition to their ability to manage T2D, demonstrating significant major adverse cardiovascular events (MACE) reduction and a favorable safety profile. GLP-1 RAs improve cardiovascular outcomes, especially in those with existing cardiovascular disease.

Background: Triple-negative breast cancer (TNBC) is characterized by the absence of expression of the estrogen receptor and the progesterone receptor by immunohistochemistry and human epidermal growth factor receptor overexpression absence either by immunohistochemistry or absence of amplification by fluorescence in-situ hybridization. TNBCs tend to have rapid growth when compared to other subtypes of breast cancer. TNBC is associated with higher histologic grade and more advanced disease at presentation.
