Unlabelled: We examined the effect of probenecid in regulating the ERK and JNK downstream MAPK pathways affecting respiratory syncytial virus replication.

Background: We have previously shown that probenecid inhibits RSV, influenza virus, and SARS-CoV-2 replication in vitro in preclinical animal models and in humans. In a Phase two randomized, placebo-controlled, single-blind, dose range-finding study using probenecid to treat non-hospitalized patients with symptomatic, mild-to-moderate COVID-19, we previously showed that a 1000 mg twice daily treatment for 5 days reduced the median time to viral clearance from 11 to 7 days, and a 500 mg twice daily treatment for 5 days reduced the time to viral clearance from 11 to 9 days more than the placebo.

An adult male castrated French bulldog mix was presented for suspected caval syndrome and bilateral pelvic limb paresis. After emergency transjugular heartworm extraction, abdominal ultrasound revealed occlusive adult heartworms in the abdominal aorta extending into the pelvic limb arteries. Hybrid interventional and surgical extraction was pursued, and heartworms were removed via bilateral femoral arteriotomy and caudal abdominal aortotomy.

Combining breeding populations that have diverged at some point is a conventional practice, particularly in the poultry industry, where generation intervals are short and genetic evaluations should be frequently available. Nitric oxide (NO) is an endogenous antimicrobial molecule that is released through the degradation of synthetic donor molecules such as S-nitroso-N-acetylpenicillamine (SNAP) embedded into polymer membranes. Trypanosoma cruzi is an important cause of disease and death in humans and dogs, and although wildlife infections are common, less is known about disease manifestations. A 12-week-old male American black bear (Ursus americanus) cub with mild lethargy and anorexia presented to a wildlife rehabilitation center in Lake Tahoe, California.
