Background: Admission of a patient in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) and the recovery process may be stressful for family members.

Objectives: This study aimed to explore the families' psychological symptoms and their evolution over the 1 week of patients' ICU stay. Additional objectives were the estimation of the families' need for support and the estimation of satisfaction regarding the information provided by ICU physicians.

Despite standardization of multimodal treatment and approval of several targeted drugs for resectable, non-metastatic cancer (M0 patients), intrinsic and acquired resistance and relapse rates remain high, even in early-stage aggressive tumors. Genome analysis could overcome these unmet needs. Our comprehensive review underlines the controversy on stable or spatiotemporally evolving clones as well as promising yet inconclusive data on genome-based biomarkers and drug development.

Introduction: The extent of lymph node dissection (LND) and its potential survival benefit are still a matter of debate. Aim of our review was to summarize the latest literature data regarding the surgical templates, the potential oncological benefits, the functional outcomes and the complications of extended lymph node dissection (eLND) during robot-assisted radical prostatectomy (RARP).

Evidence Acquisition: We systematically reviewed all relevant studies using PubMed, MEDLINE, Embase, American Urological Association (AUA), European Society of Medical Oncology (ESMO) and European Association of Urology (EAU) guidelines.

Natural disasters such as tsunami, hurricanes, and earthquakes may have a negative impact on cardiac health. The aim of our systematic review is to evaluate the impact of earthquakes on the incidence of acute coronary syndromes and cardiac mortality and to examine the impact of the time of earthquakes on the incidence of acute coronary syndromes. MEDLINE and Cochrane databases were searched for studies assessing the impact of earthquakes on acute coronary syndromes from inception until December 20, 2017.

The prognosis of primary liver cancer (PLC) remains poor and is explained by the slow progress in understanding the molecular pathways driving tumorigenesis, therapeutic resistance and relapse. For early PLCs, complete surgical resection is the only effective treatment, with sorafenib and, more recently, regorafenib prolonging overall survival by a few months. Areas covered: Application of next-generation sequencing (NGS), including targeted NGS (tNGS), whole-exome sequencing (WES), whole-genome sequencing (WGS) and RNA sequencing (RNAseq), on clinical samples from patients with hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) and intrahepatic cholangiocarcinoma (ICC) could aid in comprehending tumorigenesis, genetic and genomic heterogeneity, as well as developing molecular classifications for specialized targeted therapy.

Personalized medicine has made some major advances in colorectal cancer, but new biomarkers still remain a hot issue as an emerging tool with potential prognostic and therapeutic potential. We investigated for SLCO1B3 gene alterations and protein expression in colorectal cancer, using the novel high-resolution melting analysis technique and immunohistochemistry. Formalin-fixed paraffin-embedded tumor samples from 30 colorectal cancer patients were used.

Objective: We examined trans-radial approach (TRA) use in coronary angiographies (CAs) as well as in percutaneous coronary interventions (PCIs) in specific regions of Greece, its distribution in public and private catheterization laboratories (CLs) and its preference by operators. Reliable data regarding the use of TRA are not available in Greece.

Methods: The study was performed in northern and central Greece, which constitutes 35.

Hepatobiliary and pancreatic (HBP) cancers are associated with high cancer-related death rates. Surgery aiming for complete tumor resection (R0) remains the cornerstone of the treatment for HBP cancers. The current progress in the adjuvant treatment is quite slow, with gemcitabine chemotherapy available only for pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma (PDA).

Non-epithelial ovarian cancers (NEOC) are a group of fascinating but uncommon malignancies which can be extremely challenging to treat. Collectively, these tumours only represent 10-15% of all ovarian cancers and occur in all age groups from childhood to old age. This broad term includes diverse tumours of germ cell origin, sex cord-stromal cell origin, as well as extremely rare types of ovarian cancer, such as small-cell carcinomas and sarcomas, each of which require specialist management.

Penetrating abdominal trauma has been traditionally treated by exploratory laparotomy. Nowadays laparoscopy has become an accepted practice in hemodynamically stable patient without signs of peritonitis. We report a case of a lower anterior abdominal gunshot patient treated laparoscopically.
