Background: Blood always shows coagulation changes after spinal cord injury (SCI), and identifying these blood changes may be helpful for diagnosis and treatment of SCI. Nevertheless, studies to date on blood coagulation changes after SCI in humans are not comprehensive. Therefore, this study aims to identify blood coagulation diagnostic biomarkers and immune changes related to SCI and its severity levels.

January 2024

Ministry of Education Key Laboratory for Analytical Science of Food Safety and Biology, Fujian Provincial Key Laboratory of Analysis and Detection for Food Safety, Eel Farming and Processing, Fuzhou University, Fuzhou, Fujian, 350108, P. R. China.

The constrained enzymatic activity and aggregation challenges encountered by small-sized nanozymes pose obstacles to their practical utility, necessitating a strategy to mitigate aggregation and boost enzymatic catalytic efficiency. In this work, a negatively charged Eu MOF was utilized as the encapsulation matrix, encapsulating the small-sized nanozymes FeNCDs into the Eu MOF to synthesize an FeNCDs@Eu MOF. The dispersibility of the encapsulated FeNCDs was increased, and owing to the negative charge of the FeNCDs@Eu MOF, electrostatic pre-concentration of the positively charged target molecule tetracycline (TC) was facilitated, thereby amplifying the enzymatic catalytic efficiency of the FeNCDs.

3D printing of MOF-reinforced methacrylated gelatin scaffolds for bone regeneration.

J Biomater Sci Polym Ed

April 2024

Fujian Provincial Key Laboratory of Advanced Materials Oriented Chemical Engineering, Engineering Research Center of Industrial Biocatalysis, Fujian-Taiwan Science and Technology Cooperation Base of Biomedical Materials and Tissue Engineering, College of Chemistry and Materials Science, Fujian Normal University, Fuzhou, China.

Scaffolds based on gelatin (Gel) play a crucial role in bone tissue engineering. However, the low mechanical properties, rapid biodegradation rate, insufficient osteogenic activity and lacking anti-infective properties limit their applications in bone regeneration. Herein, the incorporation of ibuprofen (IBU)-loaded zeolitic imidazolate framework-8 (ZIF-8) in a methacrylated gelatin (GelMA) matrix was proposed as a simple and effective strategy to develop the IBU-ZIF-8@GelMA scaffolds for enhanced bone regeneration capacity.

Objective: To evaluate the validity of intraoperative evoked potential (EP) including motor evoked potential (MEP) and somatosensory evoked potentials (SEP) as a biomarker for predicting neural function changes after thoracic spinal decompression (TSD) surgery.

Method: A consecutive series of 336 TSD surgeries were reviewed between 2010 and 2021 from four spine center. All patients with TSD were divided into 3 groups according to different intraoperative EP results: group 1, EP alerts; group 2, no obvious EP deterioration; group 3, EP improvement compared with baselines.

Objective: To investigate whether the application of a curved rasp on the femoral side is effective in reducing the incidence of stem malalignment in total hip replacement with direct anterior approach (DAA-THA), followed by the analysis of the independent risk factors affecting stem malalignment.

Methods: Retrospective analysis was carried out covering 160 patients undergoing DAA-THA from January 2019 to December 2021, with Tri-Lock (BPS, Depuy) stem applied in all 113 patients were screened according to inclusion and exclusion criteria. The data of gender, age, body mass index, preoperative diagnoses, Dorr classification, FAR ratio, pelvic morphology ratio, WOMAC scores, were analyzed to explore the independent factors influencing the malalignment of the femoral prosthesis implantation.

Electronic address:

Background: Supracondylar humeral fractures are the most common type of pediatric elbow fractures, and are primarily treated using closed reduction and percutaneous pinning. For patients who are treated ≥14 days after the injury, after callus formation has occurred, closed reduction is usually not possible. The purpose of this study is to report the clinical outcomes of closed reduction with percutaneous Kirschner wire (K-wire) drill-and-pry for the delayed treatment of pediatric supracondylar humeral fractures with bony callus formation.
