BACKGROUND Renal ischemic-reperfusion (RIR) injury remains a major cause of acute kidney injury, with increased in-hospital mortality and risks for chronic kidney disease. Previous studies have proposed that oxidative stress, inflammation, and renal apoptosis are the most common causes of injury, whereas recent research proved that methane, the simplest alkane generated by an enteric microorganism or accompanying the production of reactive oxygen species (ROS), can alleviate inflammation and oxidative stress and reduce apoptosis in different organs. MATERIAL AND METHODS In the present study, we analyzed the possible effects of methane-rich saline in RIR injury in a mouse model and analyzed its possible protective effects on inflammation, oxidative stress, and apoptosis.

October 2012

Department of Otorhinolaryngology Head and Neck Surgery, Fuzhou General Hospital of People's Liberation Army, Fuzhou , China.

Objective: To study the metabolic changes of auditory cortex in patients with presbycusis by using proton magnetic resonance spectroscopy ((1)H-MRS).

Methods: Ten normal hearing volunteers (youth group), 10 normal hearing of elderly (aged group) and 8 patients with presbycusis (presbycusis group) were checked with proton magnetic resonance spectroscopy. N-acetylaspartic acid (NAA), creatine (Cr), choline (Cho), γ-aminobutyric acid (GABA), glutamic acid (Glu) compound were measured.

Objective: To investigate the practical value of hand-assisted laparoscopic hepatectomy for large liver cancer in peripheral segments.

Methods: From March 2004 to December 2007, 56 patients with large liver cancer underwent hand-assisted laparoscopic hepatectomy including 53 cases of hepatocellular carcinoma, 2 cases of cholangiocellular carcinoma, 1 case of hepatic metastatic squamous carcinoma.

Results: The operation procedures were completed safely in all patients including 27 left lateral segment hepatectomy, 6 left hemi-hepatectomy and 23 atypical right hepatectomy.

[Application of reversed pedicled submental island flap].

Zhonghua Er Bi Yan Hou Tou Jing Wai Ke Za Zhi

November 2007

Department of Otorhinolaryngology Head and Neck Surgery, Fuzhou General Hospital of People's Liberation Army, Fuzhou 350025, China.

Objective: To explore the clinical applications of reversed pedicled submental island flap in the face and oropharynx.

Methods: The clinical data of ten cases of reconstruction of defect in the area of face or oropharynx following resection of tumors with reversed pedicled submental island flaps between January of 2004 to December of 2006 were retrospectively studied. The cases included six males and four females, aged from 24 to 76 (median 55 years).

Objective: To fuse the genes of p53 tetramerization domain and anti-CD3/anti-prostate-cancer bispecific single-chain antibody (BsAb), and exploit a new way to improve the functional affinity and biological activity of antibody.

Methods: Genes of p53 tetramerization domain and anti-CD3/anti-prostate-cancer BsAb was fused by technique of DNA sub-cloning. The fusion gene confirmed by sequencing was subcloned into the pSectag2-B plasmid.

Objective: To construct a recombinant vector that expresses anti-CD 3/anti-prostate-cancer bispecific single-chain antibody (BsAb), and study its biological activities and clinical significance.

Methods: An anti-CD 3/anti-prostate-cancer BsAb was constructed by PCR and molecular biological technique of DNA cloning. The fusion gene, confirmed by sequencing, was subcloned into the pSectag2-B plasmid from the pUC18 vector by digestion with EcoR I and Hind III restriction endonucleases, whose sites exist in both the vectors.

[HLA-amino acid residue matching in organ transplantation].

Zhonghua Wai Ke Za Zhi

January 2000

Renal Transplant Center, Fuzhou General Hospital of People's Liberation Army, Fuzhou 350025, China.

Objective: To present a new matching policy-HLA amino acid residue matching (Res M) for Chinese population.

Methods: Based on the outcome of genotyping for HLA alleles in massive samples, we presented new Res M according to 10 groups of amino acid residue for class I and, groups of DR/DQ for class II and compared them with HLA six-antigen match program (Ag M). The influence of Res M on early renal function, acute rejection and 1-5 year graft survivals were retrospectively analyzed in 316 cases of first cadaver kidney transplantation.
