The purpose of this study was to elucidate anatomical features of perforating branch flaps based on the muscular branches of the medial vastus muscle and to seek a new, applicable technique that could be used in repairing soft tissue defects around human knees. In this study, the origin, the course, the branches, the distribution, and the distal anastomosis of the muscular branch of the medial vastus muscle were observed in 30 sides of adult cadaveric lower limb specimens with the adductor tubercle, the patella midpoint, and the inguinal ligament midpoint as the observation markers. The specimens had been perfused arterially with red gelatin before they were supplied.

The purpose of this study was to describe the anatomic basis for a distally based neurovenovascular pedicle compound flap, with nutrient vessels of the cutaneous nerves and superficial veins of the forearm. In this study, the origins, branches, and anastomoses of nutrient vessels of the cutaneous nerves and superficial veins of the forearm and their relationships with the blood supply of adjacent muscle, bone, and skin were assessed in 96 adult cadavers by perfusion of red gelatin into the superior limb arteries. The results showed that the nutrient vessels of cutaneous nerves and superficial veins of the forearm were found to have multiple origins, consisting of six longitudinal vascular plexuses and one transverse vascular plexus of the forearm, as follows: 1) the anterior-lateral vascular plexus from cutaneous branches of the radial artery; 2) the anterior-medialis vascular plexus from cutaneous branches of the ulnar artery; 3) the dorso-lateral vascular plexus from radial osteal and cutaneous branches; 4) the dorso-medialis vascular plexus from ulnar osteal and cutaneous branches; 5) the radial vascular plexus from osteal and cutaneous branches of the radial artery, cutaneous branches of the radial artery in the upper wrist, recurrent branches of the styloid process of the radius, and the radialis vascular plexus of cutaneous branches of the tabatière anatomique (anatomical snuffbox); and 6) the ulnar lateral vascular plexus from cutaneous branches of the ulnar artery in the upper wrist and osteal and cutaneous branches.

Objective: To investigate the possibility of the human bone marrow multipotent adult progenitor cells (hMAPCs) to differentiate into hepatocytes with hepatocyte growth factor (HGF)/ fibroblast growth factor-4 (FGF-4) in vitro.
Methods: (1) Obtaining the hMAPCs. Bone marrow was obtained from volunteers and then centrifuged through density gradient centrifugation methods.

Objective: To investigate the clinical and pathological characteristics of astrocytoma and the factors related to pathological gradings as well as recurrence in laryngeal papilloma in adult.
Method: Fifty samples from patients were selected and 10 cases of normal tissue or inflammation tissue were used as control group. The expression of Pgp, GST-pi, Topo II and Ki-67 and VEGF by immunohistochemical stain and the microvessel density by morphometry were studied.

Objective: To discuss the way of animal model building of hepaticocholedochostomy (HC) and hepaticojejunostomy (HJ) and to compare the short-term effect.
Methods: Twenty-nine dogs were divided randomly into control group (n=5) and the experimental group (stenosis of left hepatic duct, n=24). After 7 weeks of stenosis of left hepatic duct, 24 dogs in the experimental group were divided randomly into HC subgroup (n=12) and HJ subgroup (n=12).

Objective: To explore the action of platelet surface activity protein (platelet granule membrane protein CD63 and lysosome membrane protein CD62P), plasminogen activator inhibitor (PAI-1) and C-reactive protein (C-RP) in occurrence and development of unstable angina pectoris (UAP), and the effect of Puerarin on them.
Methods: Patients with UAP were randomly divided into the treated group (32 cases, treated with Puerarin) and the control group (27 cases, treated with Ticlid), the therapeutic course was 4 weeks for both groups. Changes of CD63, CD62P, PAI-1 and C-RP before and after treatment were observed.

The doses of linac convergent-beam irradiations to pineal region were measured in an anthropomorphic phantom. The feasibility of a linac accelerator as a radiosurgery tool to treat small sized intracranial masses was evaluated. The influences of some irradiation parameters on the dose distributions were discussed.

Objective: To investigate the role of nitric oxide (NO) in pathogenesis of pregnancy induced hypertension (PIH).
Methods: N(G)-nitro-L-arginine-methyl-ester (L-NAME) was used to inhibite the synthesizing of NO in the third trimester of pregnancy rats. Indices including HGB, PLT, HCT, protein uria, serum endothelin (ET), thromboxane B2(TXB2), 6-keto-PGF1 alpha and blood pressure in pregnant rats were measured.

An immunophenotypic lymphocyte analysis of 56 cases of orbital lymphadenosis was performed with a panel of 10 monoclonal antibodies against the lymphocyte differentiation antigen by the streptavidin-peroxidase conjugate method to reveal that (1) all 15 cases of inflammatory pseudotumor and 32 of 33 cases of reactive lymphocyte hyperplasia manifested polyclonality of the constituent cells; (2) the immunophenotype of cells was monoclonal in 2 of 3 cases of atypical lymphocyte hyperplasia and diagnosis of malignant lymphoma (ML) were established; and (3) among 5 cases of ML, the cells were shown to be B-cells in 4 cases and T-cells in 1 case. These results suggested that immunophenotyping could be useful in differentiating the benign from the malignant orbital lymphadenosis and the histologic types of ML. The relationship between pathologic and immunologic classifications of orbital lymphadenosis was also discussed.
