Purpose: We intend to investigate the association between tacrolimus-induced new-onset diabetes after transplantation (NODAT) and polymorphisms of CYP3A4, CYP3A5, ATP-binding cassette transporter sub-family C member 8 (ABCC8), and glucokinase (GCK) in renal transplant recipients.
Methods: Polymorphisms of CYP3A4 *18B, CYP3A5 *3, ABCC8 T-3C, and GCK G-30A were genotyped in 169 renal transplant recipients. Trough concentrations of tacrolimus were detected by an ELISA kit.

Objective: This study aimed to evaluate the clinical efficacy of different target volumes in pelvic radiotherapy in postoperative treatment of cervical cancer based on the Sedlis criteria.
Methods: Patients who admitted to our department for post-operative radiotherapy of cervical cancer from December 2001 to December 2011 and met the Sedlis criteria were retrospectively analysed. The incidences of acute and late radiation injuries, and overall, disease-free and tumour-specific survival with reduced-volume pelvic and whole-pelvis radiotherapy were evaluated and compared.

Methane is reported to have antioxidant, anti-inflammatory and anti-apoptotic properties. We investigated the potential neuroprotective effects of methane-rich saline (MS) on spinal cord ischemia-reperfusion injury and determined that its therapeutic benefits are associated with the activation of nuclear factor erythroid 2-related factor 2 (Nrf2). Rats received 9min of spinal cord ischemia induced by occlusion of the descending thoracic aorta plus systemic hypotension followed by a single MS treatment (10ml/kg, ip) and 72h reperfusion.

Objective: To investigate the effect of peroxisome proliferator-activated receptor-γ (PPAR-γ) agonist 15d-PGJ2 on the expressions of CXCL9, CXCL10 and CXCL11 in renal tubular epithelial cells (HK-2) stimulated by interferon-γ (IFN-γ) plus tumor necrosis factor-α (TNF-α).
Methods: HK-2 cells were stimulated with IFN-γ plus TNF-α only, or incubated with 15d-PGJ2 for 48 hours. CXCL9, CXCL10 and CXCL11 expressions were determined by real-time quantitative PCR (qRT-PCR) and ELISA.

In order to investigate whether CD133-positive Hep-2 cells exhibit a radioresistant phenotype and to determine whether hypoxia promotes this phenotype, we performed a series of experiments. Objective: Muscle contraction may prompt glucose uptake through non-insulin-dependent ways, and it may be due to the enhanced activation of key proteins known to regulate glucose metabolism, like p38 and Akt. Our experiment focused on the impact of different contraction modes on the phosphorylation of the molecules, thus to explore effective ways to lower blood glucose.
Methods: Isolated muscle strips perfusion technique and Western blot analysis were employed to investigate the influence of different modes of contraction on the activation of the molecules.
