This study expands the original two-dimensional carbon footprint model into a three-dimensional model form. Introduce two indicators of carbon footprint depth (CF) and size (CF) to form a three-dimensional carbon footprint model (CF), which is used to respectively represent the occupation and consumption of natural capital reserves by human activities' carbon emissions. Based on the 3D carbon footprint model, this paper calculated the CF, CF, and CF for four different urban agglomerations of China (BTH, YRD, PRD, and CY) spanning from 2000 to 2017.

College of Physics, Qingdao University, National Demonstration Center for Experiment Applied Physics Education (Qingdao University), Qingdao Broadband Terahertz Spectroscopy Technology Engineering Research Center (Qingdao University), Qingdao 266071, China.

As promising optoelectronic functional materials in the short-wavelength spectral region, such as ultraviolet (UV) and deep UV, phosphates have recently received increased attention. However, phosphate materials commonly suffer from limited birefringence owing to the highly symmetrical PO tetrahedra. We herein report a layered tin(II) phosphate with improved birefringence.

With the increasing demand for improved food preservation, conventional waterproof food packaging has proven inadequate because of its limited functionality. Although incorporating features such as antibacterial and antioxidant properties into packaging enhances protection, it can compromise the hydrophobicity of the involved material, thereby increasing the risk of contamination from external sources. To address this challenge, a robust and reliable barrier capable of simultaneously integrating multiple protective functions is required.

Volatile organic compounds (VOCs) play a key role in plant communication with other organisms in the natural environment. However, the regulatory role of the phytohormone ethylene in volatile production in plants remains unclear. In this study, we demonstrated that the application of an ethylene precursor and amplification of ethylene signaling make rice plants more attractive to brown planthopper (BPH) females for feeding and oviposition.

The efficacy of immunotherapy in triple-negative breast cancer (TNBC) is significantly hindered by its low immunogenicity and immunosuppressive tumor microenvironment. Non-invasive photodynamic therapy (PDT) is increasingly recognized as a potential immunotherapeutic stimulant in the treatment of TNBC. However, photodynamic immunotherapy is constrained by tumor hypoxia and excessive inflammation suppression during the course of treatment.

Background: Apolipoprotein C3 (apo C3) is primarily secreted by the liver and is involved in promoting sterile inflammation and organ damage under pathological conditions. Previous studies have shown that apo C3 is abundant in the plasma exosomes of patients with aortic dissection (AD), but its specific role in AD remains unclear.

Methods And Results: In vivo, adeno-associated virus was used to knock down hepatic apo C3 expression in an AD mouse model to assess the impact of liver-derived apo C3 on the development of AD.

Objective: Type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) is a major cause of atherosclerosis, as well as an independent risk factor of cardiovascular adverse events. We aimed to evaluate the association of serum Meteorin-like protein (Metrnl) level with carotid atherosclerosis as determined by carotid intima-media thickness (CIMT) status in subjects with T2DM.

Methods: This cross-sectional study included 83 T2DM subjects without pre-existing cardiovascular diseases.

Acentric crystalline materials are the cornerstone of numerous cutting-edge technologies and have been highly sought-after, but they are difficult to construct controllably. Herein, by introducing a new p-block element to break the symmetrical environment of the d transition metal in the centric matrix TiTeO, a novel acentric tellurite sulfate, namely Ti(TeO)(SO), was successfully constructed. In its structure, two types of p-block element-centered oxo-anionic groups, [TeO] and [SO], endow [TiO] with an out-of-center distortion along the local C[111] direction, which is rare in titanium oxides containing a lone-pair cation.

January 2025

Xinjiang Key Laboratory of Desert Plant Roots Ecology and Vegetation Restoration, Xinjiang Institute of Ecology and Geography, Chinese Academy of Sciences, Urumqi, China.

Soil fungi are essential to ecosystem processes, yet their elevational distribution patterns and the ecological mechanisms shaping their communities remain poorly understood and actively debated, particularly in arid regions. Here, we investigated the diversity patterns and underlying mechanisms shaping soil fungal communities along an elevational gradient (1,707-3,548 m) on the northern slope of the Central Kunlun Mountains in northwest China. Results indicated that the dominant phyla identified across the seven elevational gradients were and , displaying a unimodal pattern and a U-shaped pattern in relative abundance, respectively.

Heat stress significantly impacts global rice production, highlighting the critical need to understand the genetic basis of heat resistance in rice. U2AF (U2 snRNP auxiliary factor) is an essential splicing complex with critical roles in recognizing the 3'-splice site of precursor messenger RNAs (pre-mRNAs). The U2AF small subunit (U2AF35) can bind to the 3'-AG intron border and promote U2 snRNP binding to the branch-point sequences of introns through interaction with the U2AF large subunit (U2AF65).
