Histogram of Apparent Diffusion Coefficient to Evaluate the Activity of Thyroid-Associated Ophthalmopathy.

Objective: This study aimed to evaluate the activity of extraocular muscles (EOMs) in patients with thyroid-associated ophthalmopathy (TAO) using turbo spin echo imaging. By analyzing tissue heterogeneity, apparent diffusion coefficient (ADC) histogram analysis offers enhanced insights into edema within the EOMs.

Methods: Eighty-eight patients with TAO were retrospectively evaluated and allocated into active (n = 24, clinical activity score [CAS] ≥ 3) and inactive (n = 64, CAS < 3) groups.

Association of blood urea nitrogen with 28-day mortality in critically ill patients: A multi-center retrospective study based on the eICU collaborative research database.

Objective: Blood urea nitrogen (BUN) is a commonly used biomarker for assessing kidney function and neuroendocrine activity. Previous studies have indicated that elevated BUN levels are associated with increased mortality in various critically ill patient populations. The focus of this study was to investigate the relationship between BUN and 28-day mortality in intensive care patients.

TdT combined with Cas14a for the electrochemical biosensing of NPC-derived exosomes.

In this work, the electrochemical biosensor based on the subtle combination of terminal deoxynucleotidyl transferase (TdT), CRISPR/Cas14a, and magnetic nanoparticles (MNPs) was developed for the detection of nasopharyngeal carcinoma (NPC)-derived exosomes. Due to the synergistic effect of the following factors: the powerful elongation capacity of TdT for single-stranded DNA (ssDNA) with 3-hydroxy terminus, the outstanding trans-cleavage ability of CRISPR/Cas14a specifcally activated by the crRNA binding to target DNA, and the excellent separation ability of MNPs, the developed electrochemical biosensor exhibited high sensitivity for the detection of NPC-derived exosome, with a linear range from 6.0 × 10 ∼ 1.

This study aims to investigate the mechanism of Re in high glucose (HG)-induced apoptosis of trophoblasts through endoplasmic reticulum stress (ERS)-related protein CHOP/GADD153.

Acceptance and the influencing factors towards intermittent self-catheterisation among patients with neurogenic lower urinary tract dysfunction in China: a multicentre cross-sectional study.

Objectives: The psychological acceptance of intermittent self-catheterisation (ISC) significantly impacts its initial adoption and long-term compliance among patients. However, our understanding of this acceptance remains limited. This study aims to investigate ISC's psychological acceptance and identify influencing factors among neurogenic lower urinary tract dysfunction (NLUTD) patients in China.

Background: The risks of obesity and epigenetic age acceleration (EAA) have drawn widespread attention. Lipid accumulation product (LAP) is a simple and reliable indicator of obesity; however, the relationship between LAP and EAA remains unclear.

Methods: Data from the National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey (NHANES) from 1999 to 2002 were used.

Background: The relationship between serum albumin and prognosis in critically ill patients has been studied, however, there is a paucity of exploration into non-linear relationships, particularly in critically ill patients undergoing dialysis. This study intends to investigate the association between serum albumin (ALB) and 28 day mortality in critically ill patients undergoing dialysis.

Methods: We conducted a multi-center retrospective cohort study of patients undergoing dialysis by utilising data from the eICU Collaborative Research Database from 208 distinct ICUs across the United States between 2014 and 2015.

Tumor-infiltrating lymphocytes (TILs) have been described in various malignancies and viewed as a sign of anti-tumor immunity, so they are frequently thought to be implicated in the prognosis of cancers. However, little information is available on the association of the distribution pattern of TILs with clinical outcomes in gastric cancer (GC). TIL densities at different regions were assessed immunohistochemically in 59 GC patients to analyze their relationship with clinicopathological characteristics.

Accuracy of subtraction fractional flow reserve with computed tomography in identifying early revascularization in patients with coronary artery disease.

Objectives: The diagnostic performance of fractional flow reserve with computed tomography (FFR-CT) is affected by the presence of calcified plaque. Subtraction can remove the influence of calcification in coronary computed tomography angiography (CCTA) to increase confidence in the diagnosis of coronary artery stenosis. Our purpose is to investigate the accuracy of post-subtraction FFR-CT in predicting early revascularization.

Circadian rhythm dysfunction and psychopathology in the offspring of parents with bipolar disorder: a high-risk study in the Chinese population.

Background: Understanding the evolution of circadian rhythm dysfunction and psychopathology in the high-risk population has important implications for the prevention of bipolar disorder. Nevertheless, some of the previous studies on the emergence of psychopathologies and circadian dysfunction among high-risk populations were inconsistent and limited.

Aims: To examine the prevalence rates of sleep and circadian dysfunctions, mental disorders and their symptoms in the offspring of parents with (O-BD) and without bipolar disorder (O-control).

Tongue feature recognition to monitor rehabilitation: deep neural network with visual attention mechanism.

Objective: We endeavor to develop a novel deep learning architecture tailored specifically for the analysis and classification of tongue features, including color, shape, and coating. Unlike conventional methods based on architectures like VGG or ResNet, our proposed method aims to address the challenges arising from their extensive size, thereby mitigating the overfitting problem. Through this research, we aim to contribute to the advancement of techniques in tongue feature recognition, ultimately leading to more precise diagnoses and better patient rehabilitation in Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM).

Enhancing Colonoscopy Preparation in Elderly Constipation Patients: A Personalized Approach with PEG and Exercise - A Case Study.

This study aimed to optimize bowel preparation efficacy for colonoscopy in elderly constipation patients. A 71-year-old patient with chronic constipation and a history of poor bowel preparation. To address these challenges, we implemented a personalized strategy combining of PEG administration and walking exercise.

T2 Relaxation Time in Extraocular Muscles of Patients with Mild Thyroid- Associated Ophthalmopathy: Comparing T2 Mapping With and Without Fat Suppression Using Different Measurement Methods.

Objective: This study aimed to compare the parametric value of T2 with and without fat suppression (FS) on T2 mapping for the evaluation of extraocular muscles (EOMs) in mild thyroid-associated ophthalmopathy (TAO).

Methods: We prospectively recruited 44 consecutive patients with mild TAO seen between May 2020 and October 2022 and 26 healthy controls with no history of eye- or thyroid-related or other autoimmune diseases. Patients with mild TAO were subdivided into active and inactive groups based on their clinical activity scores.

Purpose: This study aimed to explore the predictors of medical staff's Knowledge, Attitudes and Behavior of dysphagia assessment, to provide reference suggestions for constructing the training program and improving the rate of dysphagia assessment.

Methods: This study was a cross-sectional study. A total of 353 nurses and doctors from four provinces (Guangdong, Hunan, Guangxi, and Shaanxi) who were selected by convenience sampling and invited to complete the questionnaire through WeChat, DingTalk, and Tencent instant messenger from May 23 to 31, 2022.

Concentrated growth factor (CGF) is a novel blood extract that contains many growth factors, platelets and fibrin to promote an orderly healing process.

The Gene Expression Profiling Interactive Analysis (GEPIA) database and immunohistochemical scoring were used to analyze NDUFA8 expression in cervical cancer tissues and normal tissues.

Revolutionizing Fallopian Tube Evaluation in Infertility: Transvaginal Sonography Case Study.

Background: Transvaginal four-dimensional hysterosalpingo-contrast sonography (TVS 4D-HyCoSy) is a pivotal diagnostic tool in the assessment and management of infertility. Conventionally, a 20mL syringe is employed for contrast agent injection, either at a constant or pulsatile pressure. However, in cases of bilateral fallopian tube obstruction, continued injection can lead to discomfort and excessive pressure within the uterine cavity, necessitating discontinuation of the examination.

Investigating the effect of exercise on the expression of genes related to cardiac physiological hypertrophy.

Physiological hypertrophy of the heart is associated with an increase in the normal function of the heart, and it directly relates to regular exercise, especially among elite athletes. Researches about special signaling pathways that create physiological hypertrophy have recently received more attention. As a result, the present study was conducted to investigate the effect of aerobic exercise intensity on the expression of genes involved in heart physiological hypertrophy.

[Correlation between macrophage chemotaxis and disease severity in patients with knee osteoarthritis].

Objective: To investigate the enhancement of macrophage chemotaxis in patients with knee osteoarthritis (KOA) and its correlation with the disease severity.

Methods: Eighty patients with KOA admitted from July 2019 to June 2022 were enrolled as the observation group and divided into 29 cases of moderate group, 30 cases of severe group and 21 cases of extremely severe group. At the same time, 30 healthy subjects were included as the control group.

Association between neck circumference and diabetes mellitus: a systematic review and meta-analysis.

Background: Despite that several original researchers have investigated the association between neck circumference (NC) and the risk of diabetes mellitus (DM), their results remain controversial. This review aimed to quantitatively determine the risk of DM in relation to the NC.

Methods: We conducted a literature search of PubMed, Embase, and the Web of Science from these databases' inception through September 2022 to identify observational studies that examined the association between NC and the risk of DM.

Associated Behavioral Factors and Prevalence of the Common Anorectal Disease Among Uyghur Male Adults of China: A Population-Based Crosssectional Study.

We investigated the behavioral associated factors and prevalence of common anorectal disease (hemorrhoids, perianal pruritus, anal fistula, and others) among Uyghur male adults in southern Xinjiang. We conducted a cross-sectional study with a random sampling method from December 2020 to March 2021. Uyghur males aged 18 years and older were selected from Kashgar Prefecture in Xinjiang.

Fluorescent aptasensor based on the MNPs-CRISPR/Cas12a-TdT for the determination of nasopharyngeal carcinoma-derived exosomes.

A fluorescence aptasensor based on taking the advantage of the combination of magnetic nanoparticles (MNPs), terminal deoxynucleotidyl transferase (TdT), and CRISPR/Cas12a was developed for the determination of nasopharyngeal carcinoma (NPC)-derived exosomes. The MNPs can eliminate background interference due to their magnetic separation capability. TdT can form an ultra-long polynucleotide tail which can bind with multiple crRNA, generating a signal amplification effect.
