To explore the interaction between pediatric sleep-disordered breathing(SDB), the intestinal microbiota, and pediatric non-alcoholic fatty liver disease(NAFLD). A total of 63 non-obese children(47 children with SDB in the experimental group and 16 without SDB in the control group) were enrolled in this study. The liver function and degree of SDB were assessed in both groups.

Objectives: Experimental and acute exposure studies imply that manganese affects red blood cell production. Nevertheless, the association between environmental exposure and red blood cell distribution width (RDW) has yet to be explored. This research sought to assess the correlation between blood manganese levels and RDW within the general population of the United States.

Objective: To develop and evaluate the predictive value of a simplified lung ultrasound (LUS) method for forecasting respiratory support in term infants.

Methods: This observational, prospective, diagnostic accuracy study was conducted in a tertiary academic hospital between June and December 2023. A total of 361 neonates underwent LUS examination within 1 h of birth.

Article Synopsis
  • mRNA plays a crucial role in the development and growth of cells, but it's challenging to detect it in live cells.
  • A new strategy was created using split-aptamers and split fluorescent proteins to form dual-color "turn-on" probes that specifically target complementary mRNA sequences.
  • This approach, called sAPiFC, offers improved selectivity, stability, and the ability to target different types of mRNAs in live-cell imaging.

Department of Gynecology and Obstetrics, Maternity and Child Healthcare Hospital Affiliated to Anhui Medical University, Anhui Province Maternity and Child Healthcare Hospital, Hefei, 230001, China.

Article Synopsis
  • Scientists studied a type of breast cancer called invasive breast carcinoma (BRCA) because it's really serious and can be very deadly.
  • They looked at a special protein called PLK1 to see how it might help doctors predict how patients might do over time.
  • They found that high levels of PLK1 can help show which patients might be at a higher risk and used this information to create a helpful tool for doctors to estimate patient survival and treatment options.

To investigate the influencing factors of in-hospital acute heart failure (AHF) in patients with acute exacerbation of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (AECOPD), and to construct and validate a risk prediction nomogram model. Three Hundred Thirty patients with AECOPD admitted to our hospital from June 2020 to June 2023 were retrospectively analyzed as a training set for the construction of the model. Three Hundred Twenty-five AECOPD patients admitted to the Second People's Hospital of Hefei from 2006 to June 2023 were also collected as the validation set for the validation of the model.

Background: Atherosclerotic dyslipidemia (AD) is associated with an increased risk of cardiovascular diseases and stroke events, but the effect of AD among acute ischemic stroke (AIS) patients undergoing intravenous thrombolysis is unclear. This study aimed to investigate the relationship between AD and long-term stroke recurrence in AIS patients undergoing intravenous thrombolysis.

Methods: This prospective cohort study included 499 AIS patients treated with intravenous thrombolysis.

Background: Hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) is a major human health concern. Increasing evidence has demonstrated that ubiquitin ligase E4B (UBE4B) may be involved in the occurrence and development of various human cancers and may affect prognosis. However, the specific role and mechanism of UBE4B in HCC is unclear.

Objective: To evaluate the effect of the VFQ-25 scale on the efficacy of Nd : YAG laser ablation in patients with different severity of vitreous opacities.

Methods: From January 2020 to March 2021, data of patients who presented to our department and were diagnosed with vitreous opacity were collected, and the severity of vitreous opacity was divided into four grades: I, II, III, and IV. Preoperative visual acuity, intraocular pressure, dilated fundus, B ultrasound, and other examinations were performed, and the patients were scored using the VFQ-25 scale.

Associations of single and multiple perfluoroalkyl substances exposure with folate among adolescents in NHANES 2007-2010.

November 2022

School of Public Health and Institute of Chronic Disease Prevention and Control, Wannan Medical College, Wuhu, 241002, China.

Background: The accumulation of perfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) in human body has raised concerns about the potential health impacts on children and adolescents. However, no study has evaluated the associations of PFAS exposure with folate concentrations among adolescents.

Methods: In the present study, we mainly used three statistical approaches, namely multiple linear regression, Bayesian Kernel Machine Regression (BKMR), and quantile-based g-computation (Q-gcomp) models, to evaluate associations of individual PFAS and their mixtures with serum and red blood cell (RBC) folate concentrations in a sample of 721 adolescents from the NHANES 2007-2010.

Stress urinary incontinence (SUI) is a common gynecological urinary system disease, and globally, 200 million or more people suffer from it. However, the existing literature mostly focuses on postpartum urinary incontinence (UI) or UI in middle-aged and elderly people, with little focus on primiparas. To analyse urinary incontinence prevalence and its risk factors in primiparas and establish a nomogram prediction model, 360 parturients were recruited from three hospitals between April and September 2021.

[Speckle-type POZ protein up-regulates c-Jun protein expression and promotes proliferation and invasion of renal carcinoma cells].

Nan Fang Yi Ke Da Xue Xue Bao

March 2021

Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology, School of Laboratory Medicine, Bengbu Medical College, Bengbu 233030, China.

Objective: To investigate the effect of speckle-type POZ protein (SPOP) on proliferation, apoptosis, migration and invasion of renal cell carcinoma (RCC) and explore the potential mechanisms.

Objective: Renal carcinoma cell lines (786-O, A704, and Caki-2) cultured in vitro were transfected with a SPOP-overexpressing plasmid, and the changes in proliferation of the cells were detected using colony formation and MTT assay; TUNEL assay was used to assess apoptosis of the cells. The changes in migration and invasion abilities of the cells were examined using wound healing assay and Transwell assay.
