Background: Anillin (ANLN) is an actin-binding protein that is essential for cell division and contributes to cell growth and migration. Although previous studies have shown that ANLN is related to carcinogenesis, no pan-cancer analyses of ANLN have been reported. Accordingly, in this study, we evaluated the carcinogenic roles of ANLN in various cancer types using online databases.

Vascular calcification, characterized by the accumulation of calcium-phosphate crystals in blood vessels, is a major cause of cardiovascular complications and chronic kidney disease (CKD)-related death. This work focuses on the molecules involved in high-phosphorus-mediated vascular calcification in CKD. A rat model of CKD was established by 5/6 nephrectomy, and the rats were given normal phosphorus diet (NPD) or high phosphorus diet (HPD).

Interleukin-21 (IL-21) has been shown to play an important role in the immune system. This study aimed to investigate the changes in the level of IL-21 in patients with anti-neutrophil cytoplasmic antibodies against myeloperoxidase (MPO-ANCA)-associated vasculitis (MPO-AAV), as well as explore its influence on disease activity and the potential mechanism. Flow cytometry was performed to detect the percentage of follicular helper T cells (Tfh) among CD4T cells (Tfh%); the percentage of Tfh-expressing inducible costimulator (ICOS) among Tfh cells (ICOSTfh%); the percentage of Tfh-expressing programmed cell death protein 1 (PD-1) among Tfh cells (PD-1Tfh%); and mean fluorescence intensity of Tfh-expressing ICOS or PD-1 in the peripheral blood.

Hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) is one of the most common types of cancer, and its treatment remains difficult. Since the early symptoms of HCC are not obvious, many HCC patients are already at an advanced stage of the disease at the time of diagnosis. Although current targeted therapy and immunotherapy have been initially effective in HCC patients, several patients have shown low response rates or developed drug resistance, which leads to tumor progression and even death.

Regulation of Semaphorin3A in the process of cutaneous wound healing.

Cell Death Differ

October 2022

Jiangsu Key Laboratory of Oral Diseases, Nanjing Medical University, Nanjing, Jiangsu, PR China.

Semaphorin 3A (Sema3A) has been recognized as a crucial regulator of morphogenesis and homeostasis over a wide range of organ systems. However, its function in cutaneous wound healing is poorly understood. In our study, we demonstrated that Sema3A adenovirus plasmids transfection limited keratinocyte proliferation and decreased migrative capacity as assessed by in vitro wound healing assay.

Exosomes participate in many physiological and pathological processes by regulating cell-to-cell communication. This affects the etiology and development of diseases, such as osteoarthritis (OA). Although exosomes in the OA tissue microenvironment are involved in the progression of OA, exosomes derived from therapeutic cells represent a new therapeutic strategy for OA treatment.

Exosomes derived from human mesenchymal stem cells (hMSCs) have the capacity to regulate various biological events associated with sepsis-induced acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS), including cellular immunometabolism, the production of proinflammatory cytokines, allowing them to exert therapeutic effects. However, little is known about which type of hMSC-derived exosomes (hMSC-exo) is more effective and suitable for the treatment of sepsis-induced ARDS. The purpose of this study is to compare the efficacy of hMSC-derived exosomes from human adipose tissue (hADMSC-exo), human bone marrow (hBMMSC-exo), and human umbilical cord (hUCMSC-exo) in the treatment of sepsis-induced ARDS.

The traditional systemic chemotherapy through intravenous infusion of doxorubicin (DOX) has many side effects. The aim of this study was to develop a PLGA-based DOX-loaded implant and to evaluate the efficacy and drug metabolism distribution of the implant in intratumoral chemotherapy for osteosarcoma (OS). In this study, implants containing DOX, poly(d,l-lactide-co-glycolide), and polyethylene glycol 4000 were prepared by melt-molding method.

The ROS/GRK2/HIF-1/NLRP3 Pathway Mediates Pyroptosis of Fibroblast-Like Synoviocytes and the Regulation of Monomer Derivatives of Paeoniflorin.

Oxid Med Cell Longev

March 2022

Institute of Clinical Pharmacology, Anhui Medical University, Key Laboratory of Anti-Inflammatory and Immune Medicine, Ministry of Education, Anhui Collaborative Innovation Centre of Anti-Inflammatory and Immune Medicine, Center of Rheumatoid Arthritis of Anhui Medical University, Hefei 230032, China.

Hypoxia is an important factor in the development of synovitis in rheumatoid arthritis (RA). The previous study of the research group found that monomeric derivatives of paeoniflorin (MDP) can alleviate joint inflammation in adjuvant-induced arthritis (AA) rats by inhibiting macrophage pyroptosis. This study revealed increased levels of hypoxia-inducible factor- (HIF-) 1 and N-terminal p30 fragment of GSDMD (GSDMD-N) in fibroblast-like synoviocytes (FLS) of RA patients and AA rats, while MDP significantly inhibited their expression.

Background: Colorectal cancer (CRC) is one of the most common malignancies worldwide and has a high mortality rate. With the development of tumor molecular biology, more and more attention is being paid to the mechanisms of cell pathways in colorectal carcinogenesis, such as the Hippo/Yes-associated protein 1 (YAP1) and Wnt/β-catenin signaling pathways. The abnormal expression of YAP1 and β-catenin have been reported in CRC, and can lead to excessive cell proliferation, and eventually, tumor formation.
