Objective: This study aimed to analyze the antimicrobial resistance profiles, clinical characteristics and risk factors of bacteremia caused by complex (ECC) strains.
Methods: We retrospectively collected clinical data from patients diagnosed with ECC bacteremia between 2013 and 2022 in a tertiary hospital in Jiangsu. Subgroup analyses were performed based on multidrug resistance (MDR), nosocomial acquisition, polymicrobial bacteremia, and mortality.

Background: Magnetic resonance (MR) diffusion-derived 'vessel density' (DDVD) is calculated according to: DDVD = Sb0/ROI - S/ROI, where S and S refer to the tissue signal when -value is 0 or 2 s/mm. S and ROI can also be approximated by other low -values diffusion-weighted imaging (DWI). This study investigates the influence of the second motion probing gradient -value and T2 on DDVD calculations of the liver, spleen, and liver simple cyst.

Purpose: Colorectal cancer (CRC) is a leading cause of cancer-related mortality worldwide. The Fat mass and obesity-associated protein (FTO), a genetic variant associated with obesity, significantly impact the energetic metabolism of mechanical tumors. However, research on the function of FTO in CRC is scarce.

Background: Neuroblastoma stands as the most prevalent extracranial solid tumour in children, yet its epidemiological profile on global, regional, and national scales remains insufficiently explored.
Methods: Long-term trends in the incidence and mortality of paediatric neuroblastoma from 1990 to 2021 were analysed globally, regionally, and nationally using estimated annual percentage changes. Cross-national disparities in the burden of paediatric neuroblastoma were quantified through standard health equity methodologies, with projections of burden shifts extending to 2035.

Objectives: Previous studies have established a correlation between frailty and an increased risk of falls among middle-aged and elderly individuals within community settings. The frailty status of hospitalized and community-dwelling adults aged 60 or older with hip fractures is poorly investigated. This study aims to examine the relationship between frailty status and falls in China among community-dwelling and hospitalized individuals with hip fractures aged 60 and older.

Kidney stone disease is a major risk factor for impaired renal function, leading to renal fibrosis and end-stage renal disease. High global prevalence and recurrence rate pose a significant threat to human health and healthcare resources. Investigating the mechanisms of kidney stone-induced injury is crucial.

Background: Parkinson's disease (PD) ranks as the second most prevalent neurodegenerative disorder; however, its epidemiological characteristics among middle-aged and older adults at global, regional, and national levels remain inadequately documented.
Methods: This study assessed temporal trends in PD among middle-aged and older adults by extracting incidence rates, disability-adjusted life year (DALY) rates, and corresponding age-specific rates (ASRs) from the Global Burden of Disease (GBD) database spanning 1990 to 2021. Estimated annual percentage change (EAPC) was employed to analyze trends over the past 30 years.

The rising tide of bacterial drug resistance has sparked renewed interest in bacteriophages, the natural predators of bacteria. Our study highlights IME-EFm1, a Caudoviricetes bacteriophage specifically targeting Enterococcus faecium. Through our investigations, we identified that the gene IME-EFm1-ORF24 encodes an amidase, referred to as gp24, with promising lytic capabilities.

Background: Angiogenesis is essential for repairing critical-sized bone defects. Although adipose-derived stem cell (ADSC)-derived exosomes have been shown to enhance the angiogenesis of endothelial progenitor cells (EPCs), the underlying mechanisms remain unclear. This study aims to explore the effects and mechanisms of ADSC-derived exosomes in enhancing bone repair by promoting EPC angiogenesis.

Objectives: To evaluate the efficacy and safety of ZX-7101A: an inhibitor of influenza viral cap-dependent endonuclease, in adults with uncomplicated influenza and explore treatment-emergent resistance.
Methods: We conducted a randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled, adaptive-design phase 2 and phase 3 studies (ZX-7101A-202) in adults with uncomplicated influenza. Eligible patients were randomized 1:1:1 to receive a single dose of 40 or 80 mg ZX-7101A or placebo, stratified by body weight and baseline composite symptom score.

Background: Stroke ranks as the second leading cause of mortality and the third leading cause of disability worldwide. Nonetheless, the evolving burden of ischemic stroke attributable to various metabolic risk factors remains inadequately elucidated. A thorough grasp of these trends is crucial for a nuanced comprehension of stroke epidemiology and the formulation of effective preventive and interventional measures.

Extranodal Natural Killer/T Cell Lymphoma Nasal Type (EN-NK/T-CL-NT) is a rare type of non-Hodgkin lymphoma in which the lesion is usually located in the upper respiratory tract, such as nasal cavity, palate, and nasopharynx. In addition, the primary lesion of EN-NK/T-CL-NT can rarely originate in extranasal sites such as the skin, gastrointestinal tract, testicles, central nervous system, and lungs. We describe an 82-year-old male smoker was brought to the hospital with 8 months of fever, cough, sputum production, chest pain, and chest tightness.

MiR-105 exerts inhibitory effects on the development and progression of various cancers, including breast cancer, lung cancer, and gastric cancer. Through GEO data analysis, we observed decreased expression of miR-105 in liver cancer tissues compared to adjacent tissues. Furthermore, miR-105 downregulates KIFC1 expression levels by targeting its 3' UTR.

The current evidence for the use of nanoparticle albumin-bound paclitaxel (nab-PTX) for adjuvant breast cancer chemotherapy is insufficient. The present study aimed to assess the efficacy and toxicity of nab-PTX in comparison with solvent-based paclitaxel (sb-PTX) in postoperative adjuvant breast cancer treatment. A total of 345 patients were included in the study and separated into nab-PTX (n=289) and sb-PTX (n=56) groups based on the type of taxane used in the adjuvant chemotherapy regimen.

Background: Septic shock is a clinical syndrome characterized by the progression of sepsis to a severe stage. Elderly patients with urosepsis in the intensive care unit (ICU) are more likely to progress to septic shock. This study aimed to establish and validate a nomogram model for predicting the risk of progression to septic shock in elderly patients with urosepsis.

Disulfidptosis, a newly identified mode of programmed cell death, is yet to be comprehensively elucidated with respect to its multi-omics characteristics in tumors, specific pathogenic mechanisms, and antitumor functions in liver cancer. This study included 10,327 tumor and normal tissue samples from 33 cancer types. In-depth analyses using various bioinformatics tools revealed widespread dysregulation of disulfidptosis-related genes (DRGs) in pan-cancer and significant associations with prognosis, genetic variations, tumor stemness, methylation levels, and drug sensitivity.
