Expression of GPX4 by oncolytic vaccinia virus can significantly enhance CD8T cell function and its impact against pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma.

Oncoimmunology

March 2024

Key Laboratory of Integrated Oncology and Intelligent Medicine of Zhejiang Province, Department of Clinical Research Center, Affiliated Hangzhou First People's Hospital, Zhejiang University School of Medicine, Hangzhou, Zhejiang, China.

Pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma (PDAC) is currently difficult to treat, even when therapies are combined with immune checkpoint blockade (ICB). A novel strategy for immunotherapy would be to maximize the therapeutic potential of oncolytic viruses (OVs), which have been proven to engage the regulation of tumor microenvironment (TME) and cause-specific T-cell responses. To boost tumor sensitivity to ICB therapy, this study aimed to investigate how glutathione peroxide 4 (GPX4)-loaded OVs affect CD8 T cells and repair the immunosuppressive environment.

Objective: To investigate the surgical method and efficacy of percutaneous endoscopic transforaminal discectomy (PETD) for the treatment of lumbar disc herniation (LDH) with different migration levels by introducing the strategy of foramenoplasty with the "distal nucleus pulposus as the core".

Methods: Clinical data of LDH patients who underwent single-segment PETD surgery were retrospectively analyzed. Three groups were categorized according to the degree of nucleus pulposus migration in the sagittal position: no migration group, mild migration group, and high migration group.

Immunotherapy is less efficient for epithelial ovarian cancer and lacks ideal biomarkers to select the best beneficiaries for immunotherapy. CX3CR1 as chemokine receptor mainly expressed on immune cell membranes, and combined with its unique ligand CX3CL1, mediates tissue chemotaxis and adhesion of immune cells. However, the immune functional and prognostic value of CX3CR1 in epithelial ovarian cancer has not been clarified.

Objective: To evaluate the efficacy of hysteroscopic hysteroplasty in the treatment of uterine malformation complicated by primary reproductive disorders.

Methods: Women with unexplained primary infertility, repeated fertilization (IVF) failure or repeated spontaneous abortion, and uterine malformations unrelated to diethylstilbestrol who visited the obstetrics and gynecology department of our hospital from January 2019 to December 2022 were included in the prospective cohort study. Uterine malformation in the patients was confirmed by three-dimensional ultrasound and diagnostic hysteroscopy.

Background: Radical resection offers the only hope for the long-term survival of patients with gallbladder carcinoma (GBC) above the T1b stage. However, whether it should be performed under laparoscopy for GBC is still controversial.

Aim: To compare laparoscopic radical resection (LRR) with traditional open radical resection (ORR) in managing GBC.

Allisartan isoproxil (AI) is an angiotensin II type 1 receptor blocker and be converted into the active substance EXP3174 in vivo. We evaluated the drug-drug interactions of AI and an indapamide sustained-release (Ind SR) preparation, as well as the pharmacokinetic characteristics and safety of AI and Ind SR in healthy subjects. The trial was set up in 6 sequences and 3 cycles, and each cycle contained a 7-day washout period.

Rationale: Intraspinal tophaceous gout is relatively rare condition presenting with major clinical manifestations, such as spinal cord or nerve roots compressions (radiculopathy). It is usually difficult to differentiate intraspinal tophaceous gout, lumbar disc herniation, stenosis of spinal canal, ossification of ligamentum flavum, and other degenerative spinal disorders from each other.

Patient Concerns: A 64-year-old man was admitted with a history of progressive low back pain for 11 months.

Diabetic cardiovascular diseases are characterized by progressive hyperglycemia, which results in excessive production of oxidative stress and pro-inflammatory cytokines. Cystic fibrosis (CF) is characterized by chronic inflammation due to mutations in CF transmembrane conductance regulator (CFTR). However, little information is available about the role of CFTR in hyperglycemia‑induced endothelial cell oxidative stress and inflammation.
