Background: The intricate relationship between swallowing and phonation, sharing anatomical and physiological substrates, underscores a clinical demand for integrated therapeutic approaches. Existing interventions often address these functions in isolation, overlooking their interconnected dynamics.
Objective: To design and validate a cross-therapy protocol incorporating dysphagia therapy techniques (maneuvers/exercises) into voice rehabilitation.

Introduction: Both the induction and inhibition of cytochrome P450 are associated with multiple pharmacological interactions, which can lead to loss of efficacy or increase the risk of adverse drug reactions.
Objective: The aim was to determine the prescription patterns of cytochrome P450-inducing and -inhibiting drugs and their contraindicated and major pharmacological interactions in a group of patients from Colombia.
Methods: This cross-sectional observational study included patients who received drugs that induce or inhibit metabolism and examined their contraindicated and major pharmacological interactions.

Introduction: Myofascial pain syndrome is a chronic pain condition prevalent in the general population. Muscular symptoms at the level of the trapezius and rhomboid muscles are frequent and the response to therapeutic interventions established so far is variable.
Methods: We present a case series of six patients who underwent a new technique of interfacial trapezius-rhomboid block (TRB) performed under ultrasonographic guidance by applying 10 cubic centimeters (cc) of analgesic solution (bupivacaine 0.

Background: Preterm birth contributes to adverse mental health outcomes of parents dealing with a premature neonate. The main objective of this study is to determine whether music therapy (MT) songwriting during the infants' stay in the neonatal intensive care unit (NICU) is superior to standard care in reducing the risk of postpartum depression in high-risk parents of preterm children throughout the hospital treatment. The secondary objectives include assessment of effectiveness of MT in other aspects of mental health (anxiety level, perceived stress, mental wellbeing, coping, resilience).

Cellular senescence in gliomas is a complex process that is induced by aging and replication, ionizing radiation, oncogenic stress, and the use of temozolomide. However, the escape routes that gliomas must evade senescence and achieve cellular immortality are much more complex, in which the expression of telomerase and the alternative lengthening of telomeres, as well as the mutation of some proto-oncogenes or tumor suppressor genes, are involved. In gliomas, these molecular mechanisms related to cellular senescence can have a tumor-suppressing or promoting effect and are directly involved in tumor recurrence and progression.

Background: The diagnosis and treatment of lung, colon, and gastric cancer through the histologic characteristics and genomic biomarkers have not had a strong impact on the mortality rates of the top three global causes of death by cancer.
Methods: Twenty-five transcriptomic analyses (10 lung cancer, 10 gastric cancer, and 5 colon cancer datasets) followed our own bioinformatic pipeline based on the utilization of specialized libraries from the R language and DAVID´s gene enrichment analyses to identify a regulatory metafirm network of transcription factors and target genes common in every type of cancer, with experimental evidence that supports its relationship with the unlocking of cell phenotypic plasticity for the acquisition of the hallmarks of cancer during the tumoral process. The network's regulatory functional and signaling pathways might depend on the constant crosstalk with the microbiome network established in the oral-gut-lung axis.

Pituitary adenomas are a type of of the most frequent intracranial tumors. These tumors can extend outside the sella, but very rarely originate ectopically to the sellar region. A 71-year-old patient presented to our institution, with prior clinical history of noncontrolled arterial hypertension and new-onset high-intensity pulsatile headache.

Background: Piezoelectric bone cutting has gained popularity in neurosurgical osteotomies due to perceived lower trauma compared to rotary instruments. However, histological confirmation of its decreased aggressiveness is lacking, hindering conclusive proof. This study compares the bony and neuro-meningeal invasiveness of piezoelectric craniotomy with high-speed drill techniques.

Objective: Cerebral amyloidomas (CA) are exceptionally rare tumor-like lesions composed of cerebral amyloid-beta, which is derived from the cleavage of the amyloid precursor protein.
Methods: We presented a case of recurrent CA and performed a systematic review, comparing their initial presentation, imaging features, neurosurgical treatment, and natural history of the disease.
Illustrative Case: A 65-year-old male with a history of right homonymous hemianopsia, who underwent subtotal resection of a CA 19 years before, presents to the emergency department with right hemiparesis, dysarthria, and a new onset of clonic seizures.

Purpose: Anterior plagiocephaly ( AP), secondary to isolated frontosphenoidal synostosis (IFS), represents one of the rarest forms of craniosynostosis documented in medical literature. Therefore, there is a lack of comprehensive understanding regarding the long-term (> 2 years) postoperative outcomes of this minor suture synostosis.
Methods: This study presents the long-term outcomes of two patients previously treated for IFS, detailing their clinical, imaging, and postoperative characteristics.

Introduction: Worldwide, because of the demographic transition, the proportion of older adults has increased, which has been reflected in an increase in the prevalence of major neurocognitive disorder (MND). This phenomenon is especially important in low- and middle-income countries such as Colombia, given the high economic and social costs it entails. The objective was to analyse the association between socioeconomic variables with the presence of cognitive impairment in Colombian older adults.

Cassava starch solid biopolymer electrolyte (SBPE) films were prepared by a thermochemical method with different concentrations of lithium triflate (LiTFT) as a dopant salt. The process began with dispersing cassava starch in water, followed by heating to facilitate gelatinization; subsequently, plasticizers and LiTFT were added at differing concentrations. The infrared spectroscopy analysis (FTIR-ATR) showed variations in the wavenumber of some characteristic bands of starch, thus evidencing the interaction between the LiTFT salt and biopolymeric matrix.

The fruit of the cashew, a tree belonging to the family Anacardiaceae, is composed of approximately 10% nut (cashew) and 90% stalk or pseudofruit, usually discarded in situ and fermented in the soil. This review identifies cashew pseudofruit's physicochemical characteristics and bioactive compounds and their possible relationship to health benefits. Different processing techniques have been used to preserve the pseudofruit, and the effect of these techniques on its nutrients is also reviewed in this work.

Background: Programmed cell death ligand 1 (PD-L1) expression in non-small cell lung carcinoma (NSCLC) is a crucial factor in predicting responses to immunotherapy. This systematic review and meta-analysis focuses on the prevalence of PD-L1 expression and clinicopathological features among Hispanic/Latino (H/L) populations.
Methods: Embase, LILACS, Medline, and Virtual Health Library were searched for studies that evaluated the prevalence of PD-L1 in H/L patients.
