Background/objectives: Magnesium (Mg)-based food supplements contribute to the maintenance of adequate levels of Mg that are essential for overall health and well-being. The aim of this double-blind, randomized, cross-over clinical study was to assess the plasma Mg levels in volunteers following the oral administration of a magnesium-based nutraceutical ingredient, MAGSHAPE microcapsules (Mg-MS), in comparison to other commonly used magnesium sources, including the following: Mg Oxide (MgO), Mg Citrate (Mg-C), and Mg bisglycinate (Mg-BG).
Methods: A total of 40 healthy women and men were put on a low-Mg diet for 7 days, and after 8 h of fasting, a blood sample was taken from a digital puncture before (0 h) and 1 h, 4 h, and 6 h after the oral intake of each product.

Background: Assessment of bone marrow infiltration (BMI) is part of the initial staging of mantle cell lymphoma (MCL), although BMI evaluated by biopsy (BMB) is not considered significant in the MIPI scales, and standardized recommendations remain lacking.
Objectives: To evaluate the accuracy and prognostic impact of BMI assessed by PET/CT and BMB in a large series of MCL patients.
Methods: We deconstructed the IPI-NCCN, MIPI, and MIPI-c indices and considered BMI as positive if indicated by a BMB, PET/CT scan, or a combination of both.

Abdominal wall repair in adults with bladder exstrophy is challenging. We present a case of a 46-year-old woman with bladder exstrophy presenting with a large midline incisional hernia associated with a 13-cm hypoplasia of both pubic rami that precluded fixation of any abdominal mesh. A two-stage approach was adopted.

Background: Patients with multiple sclerosis (MS) may remain in a relapsing-remitting (RRMS) course despite long-standing disease, while others will develop secondary progression (SPMS). Chronic inflammation and changes in the blood-brain barrier resulting in perturbed glucose metabolism may account for these differences. PET-MRI with kinetic analysis of 2-deoxy-2(18 F)fluoro-d-glucose (18 F-FDG) provides insight into glucose metabolism and has proven useful in several chronic inflammatory diseases.

Background: Liquid biopsy offers a potential alternative to decrease or eliminate endomyocardial biopsy for diagnosing allograft rejection. p-element-induced wimpy testis-interacting RNAs (piRNAs) are novel and promising disease biomarkers for their intrinsic characteristics such as stability in body fluids; however, their role in allograft rejection remains unexplored.
Methods: A training set based on small RNA sequencing technology was performed to identify piRNAs in endomyocardial tissue (n = 8) and serum samples (n = 40) from patients following heart transplantation.

Background And Aims: Alcohol-associated liver disease (ALD) is a leading cause of liver-related mortality worldwide, with limited treatment options beyond abstinence and liver transplantation. Chronic alcohol consumption has been linked to magnesium (Mg 2+ ) deficiency, which can influence liver disease progression. The mechanisms underlying Mg 2+ homeostasis dysregulation in ALD remain elusive.

Background: Kidney transplantation is the therapy of choice for patients with advanced chronic kidney disease; however, predicting graft outcomes remains a significant challenge. Early identification of reliable biomarkers could enhance post-transplant management and improve long-term outcomes. This study aimed to identify metabolomic biomarkers within the first week after kidney transplantation that predict renal function at six months.

Objective: Management of advanced type 2 diabetes (T2D) typically involves daily insulin therapy alongside frequent blood glucose monitoring, as treatments such as oral antidiabetic agents are therapeutically insufficient. Real-time continuous glucose monitoring (rt-CGM) has been shown to facilitate greater reductions in glycated hemoglobin (HbA1c) levels and improvements in patient satisfaction relative to self-monitoring of blood glucose (SMBG). This study aimed to investigate the cost-utility of rt-CGM versus SMBG in Spanish patients with insulin-treated T2D.
