Blood flow velocity in the cerebral perforating arteries can be quantified in a two-dimensional plane with phase contrast magnetic imaging (2D PC-MRI). The velocity pulsatility index (PI) can inform on the stiffness of these perforating arteries, which is related to several cerebrovascular diseases. Currently, there is no open-source analysis tool for 2D PC-MRI data from these small vessels, impeding the usage of these measurements.

Processing pathways between sensory and default mode network (DMN) regions support recognition, navigation, and memory but their organisation is not well understood. We show that functional subdivisions of visual cortex and DMN sit at opposing ends of parallel streams of information processing that support visually mediated semantic and spatial cognition, providing convergent evidence from univariate and multivariate task responses, intrinsic functional and structural connectivity. Participants learned virtual environments consisting of buildings populated with objects, drawn from either a single semantic category or multiple categories.

Background: Medial meniscus ramp lesions (MMRLs) are commonly associated with anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) injuries and may increase the risk of graft failure after ACL reconstruction (ACLR) if undiagnosed or left untreated. Although MMRLs have been extensively reported in adults, there are limited studies describing them in pediatric patients undergoing ACLR. The purpose of this study was to perform a systematic review and meta-analysis to determine the pooled prevalence of and risk factors for MMRLs in pediatric patients with ACL injuries.

Infectious meningoencephalitides represent an important differential diagnosis for meningoencephalitis of unknown origin (MUO) in dogs. Treatment of the latter requires immunosuppression, but laboratory test results for infectious agents may take several days to return. This study investigated whether the presence of masticatory muscle changes on magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) of the head can be used to distinguish dogs with neosporosis from those with MUO at the time of diagnosis.

HIV-associated neurocognitive disorder (HAND) is a complex neurological complication resulting from human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) infection, affecting about 50% of individuals with HIV and significantly diminishing their quality of life. HAND includes a variety of cognitive, motor, and behavioral disorders, severely impacting patients' quality of life and social functioning. Although combination antiretroviral therapy (cART) has greatly improved the prognosis for HIV patients, the incidence of HAND remains high, underscoring the urgent need to better understand its pathological mechanisms and develop early diagnostic methods.

Introduction: Hemorrhagic transformation (HT) is a severe complication in patients with acute ischemic stroke due to large vessel occlusion (AIS-LVO) after endovascular treatment (EVT). We hypothesize that asymmetry of the internal cerebral veins (ICVs) on baseline CT angiogram (CTA) may serve as an adjunctive predictor of HT.
Methods: We conducted a study on consecutive AIS-LVO patients from November 2020 to April 2022.

Fibroblast activating protein (FAP) is up-regulated in cancer-associated fibroblasts (CAFs) of more than 90 % of tumor microenvironment and also highly expressed on the surface of multiple tumor cells like glioblastoma, which can be used as a specific target for tumor diagnosis and treatment. At present, small-molecule radiotracer targeting FAP with high specificity exhibit limited functionality, which hinders the integration of theranostics as well as multifunctionality. In this work, we have engineered a multifunctional nanoplatform utilizing organic melanin nanoparticles that specifically targets FAP, facilitating both multimodal imaging and synergistic therapeutic applications.

The large recruitment of tumor-associated macrophages and low exposure of tumor-associated antigens in tumor microenvironment have severely suppress the efficacy of anti-tumor immunotherapy. Herein, biosynthesized magnetosome (Mag) from bacteria was loaded with photothermal/photodynamic agent/near infrared (NIR) fluorescence dye (IR780) and further modified with lipid-PEG-c(RGDyK) through biomembrane, forming Mag for fluorescence imaging, magnetic resonance imaging, immunotherapy and photodynamic/photothermal therapy. After intravenous injection into B16F10 tumor-bearing mice, Mag could efficiently accumulate in tumor tissues based on near infrared (NIR) fluorescence and magnetic resonance dual-modality imaging, and repolarize tumor-associated macrophages (TAMs) from M2 phenotype to M1 phenotype, significantly improving the effect of tumor immunotherapy.

Background: Current multimodal neuroimaging plays a critical role in studying clinical conditions such as cardiovascular disease, major depression, and other disorders related to chronic stress. These conditions involve the brainstem-hypothalamic network, specifically the locus coeruleus (LC), dorsal vagal complex (DVC), and paraventricular nucleus (PVN) of the hypothalamus, collectively referred to as the "DVC-LC-PVN circuitry." This circuitry is strongly associated with the norepinephrine (NE) and epinephrine (E) neurotransmitter systems, which are implicated in the regulation of key autonomic functions, such as cardiovascular and respiratory control, stress response, and cognitive and emotional behaviors.

Background: Brain temperature signifies the thermal homeostasis of the tissue, and may serve as a marker for neuroprotective therapy. Currently, it remains challenging to map the human brain temperature with high spatial resolution. The thermal dependence of chemical exchange saturation transfer (CEST) effects of endogenous labile protons may provide a promising mechanism for the absolute brain temperature imaging.

Background: Cognitive decline may occur in patients with end-stage renal disease (ESRD), and is particularly severe in patients with ESRD undergoing hemodialysis; however, the mechanism of this relationship between cognitive decline and ESRD is unclear. Cortical-based structural and functional analysis can be used to understand these cortical changes and their relationship with cognitive decline in non-dialysis and maintenance dialysis ESRD patients. This study aimed to examine whether there was any correlation between alterations in cortical and resting-state function changes and cognitive decline in patients diagnosed with ESRD.

Fatty acid can potentially serve as biomarker for evaluating metabolic disorder and inflammation condition, and quantifying the double bonds is the key for revealing fatty acid information. This study presents an assessment of a deep learning approach utilizing deep image prior (DIP) for the quantification of double bonds and methylene-interrupted double bonds of triglyceride derived from chemical-shift encoded multi-echo gradient echo images, all achieved without the necessity for network training. The methodology implemented a cost function grounded in signal constraints to continually refine the neural network's parameters on a single slice of images through iterative processes.

Background: Although F-prostate-specific membrane antigen-1007 (F-PSMA-1007) positron emission tomography/computed tomography (PET/CT) and multiparametric magnetic resonance imaging (mpMRI) are good predictors of prostate cancer (PCa) prognosis, their combined ability to predict prostate-specific antigen (PSA) persistence has not been thoroughly evaluated. In this study, we assessed whether clinical, mpMRI, and F-PSMA-1007 PET/CT characteristics could predict PSA persistence in patients with PCa treated with radical prostatectomy (RP).
Methods: This retrospective study involved consecutive patients diagnosed with PCa who underwent both preoperative mpMRI and PSMA PET/CT scans between April 2019 and June 2022.
