Background: Dual antiplatelet therapy (DAPT) is necessary to prevent thromboembolic complications after stent-assisted coiling (SAC) or flow-diversion (FD) for cerebral aneurysms, but the optimal antiplatelet regimen remains unclear.
Objective: To determine the optimal DAPT duration in patients with SAC/FD.
Methods: This multicenter cohort study enrolled patients who received SAC/FD for cerebral aneurysms at seven Japanese institutions between January 2010 and December 2020.

Introduction: Cancer constitutes a major source of morbidity and mortality among people undergoing hemodialysis (HD). A systemic inflammatory response is associated with the incidence and prognosis of cancer in the general population. However, the effect of systemic inflammation on cancer-related mortality in patients undergoing HD remains unclear.

Pleuroparenchymal fibroelastosis is a recently recognized clinical entity characterized by interstitial pneumonia with proliferating elastin in the upper lung regions. Pleuroparenchymal fibroelastosis is categorized as idiopathic or reported depending on the coexistent initiating factors; however, congenital contractural arachnodactyly, which is caused by abnormal production of elastin based on a mutation in the gene, is rarely reported with lung lesion resembling pleuroparenchymal fibroelastosis. We present a case of pleuroparenchymal fibroelastosis in a patient with a novel mutation in the gene, which encodes the prenatal fibrillin-2 protein as a scaffold for elastin.

Background: The excess risk of cardiovascular diseases associated with diabetes is greater in women than in men. The present study aimed to examine sex differences in the control of cardiovascular risk factors, as well as lifestyle and psychological factors, in patients with type 2 diabetes.
Methods: A total of 4923 Japanese patients with type 2 diabetes were included in this cross-sectional study.

Objectives: Oral cenesthopathy is an uncomfortable and bizarre oral sensation without corresponding organic findings. Although some treatment options, including antidepressants and antipsychotic drugs, have been reported to be effective, the condition remains refractory. Here, we report a case of oral cenesthopathy treated with brexpiprazole, a recently approved D2 partial agonist.

Three-dimensional (3D) cell culture models such as spheroids and organoids are widely used in the field of experimental biology. To analyze these 3D experimental models, formalin-fixed paraffin-embedded (FFPE) sections are superior to whole-mount imaging for some experimental purposes, such as exploring samples with a depth limitation of primary antibody penetration immunohistochemically. However, tiny 3D cell culture samples are difficult to embed in paraffin and acquire appropriate sections.

Background: There are no standardised criteria for the 'regional' pericolic node in colon cancer, which represents a major cause of the international uncertainty regarding the optimal bowel resection margin. This study aimed to determine 'regional' pericolic nodes based on prospective lymph node (LN) mapping.
Methods: According to preplanned measurements of the bowel, the anatomical distributions of the feeding artery and LNs were determined in 2996 stages I-III colon cancer patients who underwent colectomy with resection margin >10 cm at 25 institutions in Japan.

Spindle cell lipoma (SCL) is a benign adipocytic tumor that primarily occurs in the subcutis of the posterior neck, upper back, and shoulder, particularly of middle-aged males. SCL and pleomorphic lipoma (PL) represent a morphological spectrum of one disease process. The lesion typically presents as a relatively small (<5 cm), mobile, slow-growing, painless mass.

Background And Objectives: Suspended respirable airborne particles are associated with human health risks and especially particles within the range of ultrafine (< 0.1 μm) or fine (< 2.5 μm) have a high possibility of penetrating the lung region, which is concerned to be closely related to the bronchial or alveoli tissue dosimetry.

Background: A molecular budding signature (MBS), which consists of seven tumor budding-related genes, was recently presented as a prominent prognostic indicator in colon cancer (CC) using microarray data acquired from frozen specimens. This study aimed to confirm the predictive power of MBS for recurrence risk based on formalin-fixed, paraffin-embedded (FFPE) materials.
Methods: This research utilized the same microarray data from a prior multicenter study using FFPE whole tissue sections, which retrospectively reviewed 232 stage II CC patients without adjuvant chemotherapy and 302 stage III CC patients with adjuvant chemotherapy.

To improve the cytocompatibility of mineral trioxide aggregate (MTA) cement and its ability for reparative dentin formation, the effect of adding choline dihydrogen phosphate (CDHP), which is reported to be biocompatible, to MTA cement was investigated. The L929 cell proliferation showed that the addition of CDHP improved cell viability. The addition of CDHP shortened the setting time of MTA cement, with a significant decrease in consistency above 0.

Unlabelled: Myelin oligodendrocyte glycoprotein antibody (MOG-Ab) is an autoantibody associated with acquired demyelinating syndrome (ADS) in childhood and adults. The pathogenic roles of MOG-Ab and long-term outcomes of children with MOG-Ab-associated disease (MOGAD) remain elusive. We investigated the clinical features of children with ADS during follow-up in our institute.

Background: This randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled study aimed to investigate the effects of γ-tocopherol (Toc) supplementation on premenstrual symptoms and natriuresis.
Methods: We enrolled 51 Japanese women with premenstrual symptoms, particularly those who showed increased symptoms induced by water retention during the luteal phase compared with the follicular phase. Premenstrual symptoms were recorded in the first cycle's postmenstrual follicular phase; physical measurements and urine collection were conducted during the 48-h run-in period.

Radioulnar synostosis with amegakaryocytic thrombocytopenia (RUSAT) is an inherited bone marrow failure syndrome characterized by the congenital fusion of the forearm bones. RUSAT is largely caused by missense mutations that are clustered in a specific region of the MDS1 and EVI1 complex locus (MECOM). EVI1, a transcript variant encoded by MECOM, is a zinc finger transcription factor involved in hematopoietic stem cell maintenance that induce leukemic transformation when overexpressed.

Objective: Asymptomatic craniocervical junction arteriovenous fistulas (CCJ AVFs) are rare and, thus, a consensus has not yet been reached regarding the indication of surgical interventions. This retrospective multicenter cohort study investigated the risks associated with surgery for asymptomatic CCJ AVFs and discussed the indication of surgical interventions.
Methods: Using data from 111 consecutive patients with CCJ AVFs registered with the Neurospinal Society of Japan between 2009 and 2019, we analyzed the treatment, complications, and outcomes of 18 patients with asymptomatic CCJ AVF.

Introduction: Drug-induced open bite is one of the extrapyramidal symptoms with abnormal tonus of muscles and is rarely recognized in dentistry. This is a retrospective case study to investigate clinical characteristics including detailed complaints in patients with drug-induced open bite.
Methods: Of the outpatients who first visited the psychosomatic dental clinic at the Tokyo Medical and Dental University Hospital between September 2013 and September 2022, the patients diagnosed with drug-induced open bite were involved in this study.

An acidic environment in bone is essential for bone metabolism and the production of decarboxylated osteocalcin, which functions as a regulatory hormone of glucose metabolism. Here, we describe the high-resolution X-ray crystal structure of decarboxylated osteocalcin under acidic conditions. Decarboxylated osteocalcin at pH 2.

Herein, the mechanical properties of an auto-polymerizing resin incorporated with a surface pre-reacted glass ionomer (S-PRG) filler were evaluated. For this, S-PRG fillers with particle sizes of 1 μm (S-PRG-1) and 3 μm (S-PRG-3) were mixed at 10, 20, 30, and 40 wt% to prepare experimental resin powders. The powders and a liquid (powder/liquid ratio = 1.
